1.4 Paper Roll Supply Device

1) Supply method: Drop-in paper roll
2) Roll paper end sensor: Detects whether paper is present or not.
When the sensor detects a paper-end, t he pr inter stops printing.
Printing resumes when paper is installed and the printer cover is closed.
a) Detecti on method: Microswitch
NOTE: If paper other than the speci fied one is used, the paper roll end sensor may
not work correctly.
3) Roll paper near-end sensor: Detec ts a near-end of a paper r oll.
If t he sensor i s enabl ed by ESC c 4, t he pr inter stops printing.
a) Detecti on method: Microswitch b) Near-end adjustment: Can be adjusted by changing the posit ion of t he adjusting screw. Fix ed position #1 (approximately 23 mm { 0.9"})
#2 (approximately 27 mm {1.06"})
NOTE: If r oll paper whose paper spool is out of the specified r ange is used, the roll
paper near-end detect ion may not work correctly.

NOTES: 1. Notes on using the Epson PS-180 power supply unit
If the printing is continuously performed with the high print ratio, the overcurrent limitation might be operated. Therefore, the printing length must not exceed the following values when printi ng with high pri nt ration.

Print length 30 mm or less 20 mm or less
If t he overcurrent l imitati on is operated when printing i s continuously performed wit h a high print ratio, uneven print density or a low voltage error may occur.
2. Notes on using the power supply uni t other than t he E pson specified one ( P S - 180)
The current consumption of this printer is as shown in Figure 1.9.1. User must consider these values when the user provides the power supply unit other than the Epson specified one. Note that the current consumption may increase if the printer is used in a low temperature or the pri nt density i s set t o “ dar k ” .
The power supply unit with a small power capacity may not operate the printer correctly.
