Stealth PA-1
Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the new Emotiva Stealth PA-1 Class-D Monoblock Power Amplier.
The Stealth PA-1 is a high performance monoblock power amplier featuring the highly acclaimed ICEpower 300ASC Class-D amplier module. The PA-1 combines compact size, high eciency, and excellent sound quality in a single convenient package.
The Stealth PA-1 is the ideal solution anywhere a small great sounding power amplier is needed. Use one to power a center channel speaker, use a full set to power your entire home theater system, or use several of them to add extra channels to your current audio system. Each PA-1 delivers 140 watts RMS into 8 Ohms, or 300 watts RMS into 4 Ohms, and runs cool, so it only requires minimal ventilation. Because it’s so small, the PA-1 ts conveniently on any shelf, and rack mount kits are available to mount a single PA-1, or a pair of them side by side, in a single 1U rack space.
Not only does the Stealth PA-1 sound great, but it’s also simple to congure and use. The PA-1 runs on any line voltage between 100 VAC and 264 VAC, accepts a balanced input using either an XLR or balanced 1/4” connector, and can be congured to remain on continuously or to automatically switch itself on when it detects an incoming audio signal. Comprehensive protection circuitry protects the PA-1 from a variety of faults, without intruding on the quality of your music during normal operation, and automatically resets itself once the fault is removed.
Happy listening!

Stealth PA-1
Connections
WARNING: THE AMPLIFIER CIRCUITRY USED IN THE STEALTH PA-1 UTILIZES A FULLY
BALANCED BRIDGE TOPOLOGY. BOTH OF THE SPEAKER OUTPUTS ON THE PA-1 CARRY AN
!
ACTIVE SIGNAL AND A SMALL COMMON DC OFFSET.
Both speaker output terminals on the PA-1 rest at a DC potential of approximately +27 VDC. This DC potential is carefully controlled and balanced by the servo-control circuitry in the PA-1, and is NOT applied across your loudspeakers.
- Always make speaker and input connections to the Stealth PA-1 with the amplier turned O.
- ONLY connect the speaker outputs on the PA-1 to the teminals on a PASSIVE loudspeaker.
- DO NOT connect the outputs of the PA-1 to any device with a common ground.
- DO NOT connect either output terminal on the PA-1 to another amplier.
- DO NOT connect the black (-) OUTPUT terminal on the PA-1 to ground.
- DO NOT connect the minus (-) terminal on your loudspeaker to ground.
Failure to heed these warnings will result in improper operation of your Stealth PA-1 and may damage the PA-1 or your other equipment.
Connecting speakers to your Stealth PA-1
The Stealth PA-1 provides audiophile grade ve-way binding posts for connecting your loudspeakers. Because the PA-1 utilizes a fully balanced bridge topology, there are a few extra things to consider when connecting the PA-1 to a loudspeaker.
• Always turn o the amplier before connecting or disconnecting speaker cables.
• Always verify that your speaker cables are rmly attached, and not shorted to each other or
to any other cables, before powering up your PA-1.
• DO NOT connect either of the speaker outputs on the PA-1 to any device, including speaker switches or powered loudspeakers, that utilizes a common ground.
• DO NOT allow either terminal on your speaker cable to come into contact with ground while the speaker is connected to the PA-1.
• Always use high-quality speaker wire; 16-gauge or heavier.
• Be careful to wire all speakers “in phase”
(the plus/red terminal on each speaker to the plus/red terminal on your amp).
• Try to use wires of equal length and gauge for both speakers in each pair (use the same gauge and length for both fronts, or for both surrounds; don’t use a long 16-gauge wire for one speaker and a short 10-gauge wire for the other).
• If you use stranded cables, use care to avoid short circuits (from stray strands touching).
• If you are planning to bi-amp your speakers, make sure to remove the bi-amp jumpers on the
input panel of each speaker. Failure to remove the jumpers will damage your amplier.

1. Power LED
There is a single LED located in the center of the front panel.
This LED is o when the PA-1 is O or in Standby Mode and blue when the PA-1 is On.
Note: Under most fault conditions, such as a shorted speaker cable, the PA-1 speaker output is muted BUT THE BLUE LED REMAINS LIT. Once the fault has been removed, the PA-1 will typically return to normal operation after three to ve seconds, with no user reset required.

BALANCED INPUT
AUTO ON
1. AC Power Switch
Switches the main AC power to the Stealth PA-1 On and O. When this switch is O, the PA-1 will not operate; when this switch is On, the PA-1 will either be continuously on, or will turn on when it senses an input signal, depending on the position of the Auto/On Switch.
2. AC Power Fuse
The Stealth PA-1 is protected by a 20 mm 3.15A Time Delay (Slo-Blo) fuse. If the fuse blows, replace it with a new fuse of the same value; be sure to use a time delay type fuse. The same fuse value is used for both 115 VAC and 230 VAC operation.
To change the fuse, turn o the main AC power, and remove the AC power cord from the PA-1. The fuse holder slides towards you out of the PA-1 like a drawer. To release the fuse holder, reach across the opening in the power cord receptacle with a small bladed screwdriver and pry the small tab on that side of the fuse holder cover straight out towards you. Replace the fuse and then replace the fuse holder; pressing it rmly in until it snaps into place.
3. IEC Power Cable Receptacle
The Stealth PA-1 uses a standard IEC power cable. A good quality commercial power cable is provided, but you can substitute any power cable that ts a standard IEC receptacle.
The Stealth PA-1 will operate on any AC line voltage between 100 VAC and 264 VAC.
Page 10
Stealth PA-1
4. Balanced Input
The Stealth PA-1 oers a fully balanced audio input. The universal input connector on the PA-1 accepts a standard balanced XLR connector, a stereo 1/4” phone connector wired for a balanced connection, or a monaural 1/4” phone connector wired for an unbalanced connection.
If your source device only oers an RCA unbalanced output, you can easily nd low cost adapters and adapter cables that go from an RCA connector to an XLR connector or a 1/4” phone connector.
5. Auto/On Switch
When the Auto/On Switch is on the On position, operation of the Stealth PA-1 will be controlled solely by the AC Power Switch. The PA-1 will turn on immediately when the AC Power Switch is turned On, and will turn o immediately when the AC Power Switch is turned O.
When the AC Power Switch is in the On position, and the Auto/On Switch is on the Auto position, the PA-1 will switch on automatically when it detects an audio signal at its input, and switch o after a short delay when signal is no longer detected.
6. Speaker Terminals
High quality gold plated ve-way binding posts accept banana plugs, spade lugs, or bare wires.

Care and Maintenance
Periodic Maintenance
Your Stealth PA-1 requires no periodic maintenance or calibration.
Cleaning your Stealth PA-1
• If necessary, the Stealth PA-1 should be cleaned gently with a soft rag.
• If something sticky gets on the front panel or case of the PA-1, it should be cleaned with a
mild cleaning solution applied to a soft rag, followed by wiping with a clean rag dampened with plain water, and drying with a soft dry rag or cloth.
Note: DO NOT spray water or cleaning solution directly onto the PA-1 or into the vents.
Troubleshooting
Operation of the Stealth PA-1 is simple and straightforward.
If the blue LED on the front panel of the PA-1 is not illuminated:
• check to make sure you have AC power.
• check to make sure the AC Power Switch on the rear panel of the PA-1 is set to On.
• check to make sure the Auto/On Switch is set to its proper position.
• check the AC line fuse (see page 10 for fuse location).
Note: When the Auto/On Switch is in the Auto position, the PA-1 may fail to switch on with extremely low level audio signals. If this happens, then set the Auto/On Switch to the On position.
If the blue LED is illuminated, but you have no audio:
• check your source signal.
• check your speaker cables.
Note: If you nd and correct a shorted cable or other fault, the PA-1 should reset and return to normal operation within a few seconds.
If the PA-1 is On and you have distorted audio:
• check your source signal.
• contact Emotiva Technical Support.
