APPLICATIONS & PRICING FOR
MOTORCYCLES
All our shock absorbers come standard
with a threaded preload adjustment that
allows you to fine-tune the initial force
applied on the spring and precisely
balance the weight distribution across
the front and rear wheels. This
height (ground or chassis clearance) and
to lower or raise the vehicle, allowing you
to adapt to various situations or to suit
your personal preferences.
You can easily adjust the preload by
turning the red anodized ring located on
top of the springs using the provided tool.
A locking set-screw (3 mm Allen key
provided) tightly secures the ring to
prevent it from coming out of adjustment
when riding. Although the preload
adjustment procedure is easier to
achieve when the bike is lifted on a
stand, it can also be done at the track.
THREADED SPRING
PRELOAD ADJUSTMENT
The rebound adjustment controls the
speed at which the shock absorbers
return to their fully extended position
after being compressed from an impact.
Although the rebound valving is
customized for your riding type,
sometimes you might need to further
adjust the rebound.
Since not all riding conditions or tracks
are the same, the rider will want to adapt
the rebound damping to match them. By
adjusting the rebound properly, the wheel
can stay on the ground as much as
possible to get maximum traction and
reduce the bucking effect of the spring
pressure pushing back after an impact.
Elka Suspension offers two types of
rebound adjusters (depending on vehicle
model): an easy to use twisting knob and
a compact adjuster that can be set with
a flat screwdriver, both of which have
detented clicks.
REBOUND DAMPING
ADJUSTMENT
The compression adjustment allows
riders to fine-tune the suspension to their
personal preference and make it softer or
stiffer by simply turning a knob. This can
be done quickly and easily on the side of
the street or track to adapt to various
riding situations or track conditions. The
compression adjustment is is a must for
riders who need more versatility from
their shock absorbers.
The compression adjustment provides
fine-tuning of the hydraulic damping by
controlling an additional restriction of the
oil flow. Our needle-type compression
adjuster operates on a dedicated oil
passage in the shock’s head, allowing
very precise incremental adjustments to
be made. Adjustments of the
compression are quick, and easily made
by turning a conveniently located knob
that has positive detented clicks.
COMPRESSION
DAMPING ADJUSTMENT
Elka Suspension’s High- & Low-Speed Compression adjustment is an internal
cartridge with two distinct circuits that control the hydraulic resistance for both high-
velocity and low-velocity oil displacement. This enables very advanced fine-tuning for
different types of impacts that would otherwise require the rider to make a
compromise between a more comfortable softer suspension and a high-performance
harder suspension.
With this dual adjustment, the rider can have the suspension set to react differently
for high-speed situations and low-speed situations at the same time. Learning and
understanding how to dial-in this adjustment might require a little time and effort,
but it will reward the rider with a suspension that work wonders under all riding
conditions.
With this adjustment, the rider can fine-tune the shock absorbers to react differently
for riding situations that would otherwise require a compromise to be made between
opposed optimal settings. Elite compression adjustment is for riders who demand the
highest performance and adjustability.

• Squatting under hard acceleration
• Front-end diving when braking
• Undulations and elevation changes in
the terrain

• Harsh or sudden square-edged impacts
• Road debris and obstacles
• Vibration when riding at very high
speed or when riding over choppy
tracks
On some motorcycles, the preload
adjustment ring of the rear shock
absorber is somewhat hard to reach or
require strong body english to properly
adjust. Our hydraulic preload adjuster
can make this task much easier by
providing an easy way to adjust the
preload without any tools or efforts with
up to 10mm of range. This option allows
the rider to easily modify the preload
setting without any tools. It’s also a
required option for some bike models
with hard-to-reach shock absorbers.
This feature is only available for select
motorcycle models due to clearance
issues on the others and is only available
with when purchasing a new Elka
Suspension shock absorber as it needs to
be installed during the fabrication of the
shock.
