INTRODUCTION

The TH0471 central heating programmer can automatically
switch your central heating and hot water ON and OFF
independently three times a day at whatever times you
choose.

During the installation the installer will select either 24 hour or
5-day/2-day or 7-day programming options via the 3 position
switch on the back of the unit, (please see the installation
instructions).

24 hour programmer option runs the same
programme every day.

5-day/2-day programmer option allows d
ON/OFF times at the weekend.

7-day programmer option allows different
ON/OFF times for every day of the week.

BUILT IN PROGRAMME

For convenience, the programmer has a built in programme
which, for many people, is perfectly satisfactory but it can be
changed easily, (see section CHANGING PRGRAMME
TIMES).

The built in programme, (the same for both central heating and
hot water), is loaded by pressing the button, (using a non­metallic pointed tool), and is as follows:

The TH0471 allows five options for both the CH and HW
programme period:

• OFF - off all the time

• 1 - on for one period each day

• 2 - on for two periods each day

• 3 - on for three periods each day

• ON - on all the time

SETTING TIME AND DAY

Move the slider switch to , the “SET” icon will appear
and be flashing.

Press the . button to select the current day of the week.

Press the / buttons to adjust the time. The time
will change faster if the button is held down continuously.

Move the slider switch to “RUN” or “PROG SET” if you wish to
change the programme ON/OFF times.

REVIEW BUILT IN PROGRAMME PERIOD

The slider switch is in the “RUN” position.

Press the / buttons to review each period of
Central Heating/Hot Water.

After waiting 10 seconds the display will return to normal.

SELECT PROGRAMME PERIOD

Press the / buttons to select programmed periods
to be OFF, 1, 2, 3, or ON.

CHANGING PROGRAMME TIMES

Central Heating and Hot Water can have independent
programmes which can easily be changed to suit your lifestyle.

To change the Central Heating programme:

• move the slider switch to “PROG SET”

• the first ON time will appear and the “SET” icon will

flash.

• press / to change the ON time, (10
minutes/step).

• press , the first OFF time appears and the “SET”
icon flashes. Press / to change the OFF
time.

• press again, the second ON time appears and the
“SET” icon flashes.

• press / to change the second on time.

• repeat the above steps to make all the desired changes

to the Central Heating programme.

To change the Hot Water programme repeat the above steps
using the button for Hot Water changes.

Please do not forget to move the slider switch, , to
“RUN” to return to normal operation.

If the unit is installed as a 7-day programmer the initial
programme displayed will be for Monday in Central Heating.

Any day of the week may be reached by pressing the
button repeatedly. The ON/OFF times can be changed for
each day as described previously.

If the unit is installed as a 5-day/2-day programmer the initial
programme displayed will be for the Monday to Friday.

Pressing the button will change the programme to
Saturday and Sunday. The ON/OFF times can be changed for
each day as described previously.

USING ADVANCE

This function is only applicable when your programmer is set
with at least 1 ON/OFF period.

The normal switching times can be temporarily overridden by
pushing the button marked ADVANCE.

This switches ON to OFF or OFF to ON as required, but the
normal programme switching times will not be permanently
affected.

Cancel ADVANCE by pushing the ADVANCE button again.

An “ADV” icon will be shown on the display pointing to the
appropriate function, either or

USING +1…3HR (ALSO KNOWN AS “BOOST”)

The button marked +1--3HR will bring the unit on one hour to
three hours in the OFF mode, or extend by one hour to three
hours while ON.

To cancel, just press the button again.

When +1--3HR is in operation a countdown clock will appear.
The normal display and the countdown clock will appear on the
display alternately.

When the +1--3HR brings the unit on one hour to three hours
while in OFF mode, the clock will count down immediately.

When the +1--3HR extends operation by one hour to three
hours while in ON mode, the clock will count down after the
programmed ON is finished.

Please note the +1--3HR will also work when the unit is in any
OFF position.

5°C FROST PROTECTION OPTION

There is a frost protection jumper switch marked “5°C” on the
back of the unit. This will switch the unit on automatically, in
OFF, while the unit is in the OFF position, if the room

temperature falls below 4.5°C. Once the room temperature

rises to 5.5°C the unit will switch off.

This function is cancelled by removing the jumper then
resetting the unit.

TEMPERATURE CONTROL OPTION

There is a jumper switch, at the position marked “TEMP”, on
the back of the unit. This allows the Central Heating on or off
according to the room temperature in any programmed on
periods and the ON position.

To use this function press both and and hold.
The initial temperature is 21°C and the “SET” icon will be

displayed on the LCD.

If you wish to keep this temperature wait for 5 seconds and
allow the display to return to normal.

To adjust the temperature setting:

• press to increase the temperature

• press to decrease the temperature.

To cancel this function remove the jumper then reset the unit.

N.B. It is important, if you intend to use the TEMPERATURE
CONTROL OPTION, that the unit is installed where the
temperature setting and control is of most use.

BACK LIGHT OPTION

The programmer has a back light to illuminate the display.

There are two available settings, “AUTO” or “ON”.

The “AUTO” setting leaves the back light on for 30 seconds
after any button as been pushed.

The “ON” setting has the back light always lit.

Press the button and hold for 5 seconds to review the
current setting.

The LCD will show bL:A, (AUTO) and bL:ON, (always ON).

Press the button again to select “AUTO” or “ON”.

There are two LEDs to indicate Hot Water on and Central
Heating on.

Please note that the “SET” icon appears and flashes during
any changes to settings. After the changes are complete the
“SET” icon will disappear. This confirms that the new data has
been stored and the unit will perform as per the revised
instructions.

POWER INTERRUPTION

In the event of a mains supply failure the back up battery
ensures the programmer continues to keep time and retain the
programmed information. The battery will continue to function
for a period of 30 days. In these circumstances it will be
necessary to re-enter the data.
