1. IMPORTANT REMARK
Congratulations! You are the owner of a carefully designed and manufactured equipment.
We thank you for trusting in us and choosing our DACORD Series loudspeaker cabinets.
In order to get the optimum operation and efficiency from this unit, it is VERY
IMPORTANT - before you plug anything - to read this manual very carefully and bear in mind all
considerations specified within it. We strongly recommend that its maintenance be carried out by
our Authorised Technical services.
2. WARNINGS
No user serviceable parts exist inside these units.
Never use this unit in the proximity of water. Do not expose the unit to water splashing, nor
place liquid containers on top of it.
Avoid placing the unit next to heat sources.
Use only the accessories specified by the manufacturer, employing the correct
accessories for each application.
3. INTRODUCTION
With an approach based on the permanent tracking and contact with installers and interior
design and system integration professionals, DACORD line of loudspeakers has been designed for
fixed installation especially in surroundings needing a compact loudspeaker with high efficiency,
easy installation, and an excellent sound quality.
This subwoofer has been specially designed to complete the range of DACORD speakers.
High quality 15 mm plywood has been used for manufacturing. The box contains a two 8"
woofer with ceramic magnet and 52mm coil.
4. CONNECTIONS
The DACORD SB208 unit only allows operation with low impedance of 4. To connect
this unit, it wears an easy accessible Speakon® connector. There is also the possibility of
connecting a second DACORD SB208 using the available STACK output jack (Speakon®
connector). In this case, the final impedance of the overall unit as seen from the amplifier will be 2.
The connection cables which connect the amplifiers output and the speaker should be of
good quality, have sufficient conductor area and be as short as possible. The latter fact is specially
important when the distance is long and the load impedance low. Always respect polarity.
To feed the DACORD SB208, a 300W to 600W RMS power amplifier is recommended.
The DACORD SB208 includes a 12dB/Oct. slope passive low pass filter with a 120Hz
crossover frequency. You can use the switch on the lower part of the unit to deactivate the built-in
passive filter, allowing you to use external filters. ECLER has a number of options available for this
purpose.
5. PLACEMENT AND INSTALLATION
Please observe the following general rules:
The DACORD SB208 has been designed to be installed in discrete places. Low
frequencies are considered to be non-directional so the DACORD SB208 can be perfectly placed in
corners, under a table, behind curtains... that will not notably affect its output. Generally, it should be
known that placing it close to various surfaces will increase its efficiency. Consequently, the sound
pressure level will be higher if you place the speaker on the ground in a corner rather that just
beside a wall and even more that in the centre of a room.
Also, the unit features 4 M8 flying points with embedded nut on its upper face, 4 on each
of its sides and 4 others on the underside, allowing it to be installed in suspension by means of the
use of threaded hooks and steel cables or chains.
The ECLER front logo can be rotated 180° to match the final orientation of the speaker.
There is no rule governing the number of mid/high speakers per subwoofer. It mainly
depends on the subwoofer location and on the room acoustics. Thus in a highly reflective room, a
subwoofer may even damage intelligibility while several subwoofers could be necessary in a room
with highly absorptive surfaces.
Always place the speakers on solid and firm surfaces.
Although the speakers can operate outdoor, they should not be subjected to climatic
stress like sunshine or rain.
Adapt the sound pressure levels to the diffusion needs.
