SUBJECT: SAFETY BAR FOR 6-
Bolt on the new tray with knee bar using the hardware 2. removed from the old tray. Adjust the tray by lifting it up in the closed position. Make sure it locks in place when it is in the upright position.

WARNING
Before inspecting or servicing any part of this machine, shut off power source, remove key, disconnect the battery cables and make sure all moving parts have come to a complete stop.
NOTE
Paying attention to the order when removing the old parts will aid in installing the new parts in the correct order.
These instructions will describe how to install the safety bar kit on 6 Inch Chippers.
NOTE
When installing the coated clamp, run the wire harness from the kneebar switch through the clamp.
COATED CLAMP
REMOVE EXISTING TRAY
Remove the existing tray by taking off the 3/8" bolts that hold the tray onto the chipper chute.
INSTALL SAFETY BAR
Put the coated clamp in the center bolt hole of the 1. hinge and pivot bar. The coated clamp must be placed behind the hinge and pivot bar.

CONNECTING THE WIRES
The wire harness is connected to the new tray. Find the red/black and red wires coming from this wire harness. 1. Connect these wires to the back of the Momentary Push Button Switch.
To attach the Momentary Push Button Switch to the Switch Box, start by knocking out the knock-out plug. The 2. Switch Box is located on the hopper.

WHERE THE MOMENTARY PUSH BUTTON SWITCH WILL GO ON THE SWITCH BOX
Take apart the Momentary Push Button Switch before installing it in the knock-out plug opening. To take the switch 3. apart, loosen the small screw that holds the silver-colored button to the Push Button Switch base (gold colored).

TAKE OFF THIS NUT WHEN PUTTING THE SWITCH ON THE CONTROL BOX
Position the button and the base in the cutout on the Switch Box. One nut will be placed on either side of the black 4. box. After you have positioned the button and the base, make sure the pieces are tightened with the small screw.

CONNECTING THE WIRES—RESET AND SAFETY CONTROLS
In the engine compartment, locate the wires (they are fixed together by tape). 1.
Locate the weather proof connectors on the wire harness attached to the new tray (see figure 1). The wires are red/2. black for the Reset Control and red/light green for the Safety Control.

Match the colored wires from the harness on the new tray to the wires found in the engine compartment (described 3. in step 1) and connect the connectors making sure they are locked.
