2 Do not leave appliance when plugged in_ Unplug from electrical outlet when not
in use and before servicing.
3 Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces or to vacuum water or other liquids -
electric shock and personal iniury could occur.
4 Do not allow to be used as a toy_Close attention is necessary when used by

7 Check to ensure your electricity supply corresponds to that shown on the rating
plate, which can be found behind the bin. The machine must only be used as rated_

outdoors, or immersed in liquid, contact the Dyson Helpline at 1-866-693-9766.
9 Do not use with a damaged cord or plug. Do not pull or carry by the cord; do not
usethe cord as a handle; do not dose a door on the cord or pull the cord around
sharp edges or corners. Do not run the machine over the cord_ Keep the cord
away from heated surfaces and open flames.
10 Do not unplug by pulling on the cord_ To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord_
11 Do not handle the plug or appliance with wet hands_
12 Do not use the appliance without the dear bin and filters in place_
13 Do not put any object into openings in the machine_ Do not use with any opening
blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair and anything that may reduce air flow_
14 Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings
in the machine and moving parts, such as the brushbar.
15 Do not use the machine to pick up sharp hard objects, small toys, pins, paper
dips etc, because they may damage the rnachine_
16 The use of an extension cord is not recornrnended_
17 Store the machine indoors_ Put the machine away after usewith the cord coiled
safely, to prevent tripping accidents.
18 Turn off all controls before unplugging.
19 Use extra care when cleaning on stairs; always work with the rnachine at the
bottorn of the stairs_Keep vacuum on the floon Do not put the machine on chairs,
tables etc.
20 Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes,
matches or hot ashes.
21 Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline,
or use in areas where they rnay be present
22 When vacuuming, certain carpets rnay generate small static charges in the dear
bin or wand. These are not associated with the electricity supply To minimize any
effect frorn this, do not put your hand or insert any object into the dear bin unless
you have first emptied it and rinsed it out with cold waten
23 Do not carry out any maintenance or repair work other than that shown in this
manual or advised by the Dyson Helpline_
24 Consult your flooring manufacturer% recommended instructions before vacuuming
and caring for your flooring, rugs, and carpets_ Some carpets wiN fuzz if a rotating
brushbar is used when vacuuming. If this happens, we recommend vacuuming in
bare floors mode and consulting with your flooring manufacturen
PoLarization instructions
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (one blade
is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the
plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug_ If it still does not fit, contact a
qualified electrician to install the proper outlet Do not change the plug in any way.
AssembLy
Ensure hose is straight when inserting wand.
Usage and carrying
Caution
This machine is intended for domestic use only_ Fine dust such as piaster dust
or flour should only be vacuumed in very small amounts_
Use the carry handle to lift the rnachine_
Do not press the cyclone release button while carrying the machine or it could
fall and cause injury.
Ensure the cydone is secured to the machine_
Do not shake the machine while carrying or it could fall and cause iniury_
Keep hair and loose fabrics away from wand cap when rnachine is on.
When finished cleaning, push machine into an upright position to drop stabilizers_
Ensure wheels are fully locked in place before releasing the cleanen
Brushbar controls
The brushbar will re-set to "ON" each time you start the machine and put it
in the cleaning position.
To turn the brushbar off, put the machine in the cleaning position and press
the brushbar on/off button.
Ensure the machine is in an upright position before adiusting the setting.
Turn the brushbar off when vacuuming bare or delicate flooring, rugs, and carpets.
Consult your flooring manufacturer% recommended instructions before vacuuming
and caring for your flooring, rugs, and carpets_ Some carpets will fuzz if a
rotating brushbar is used when vacuuming_ If this happens, we recommend
vacuuming in bare floors mode and consulting with your flooring manufacturen
The brushbar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed_
If the brushbar stops during use, please refer to the blockages section_
TIP:The brushbar will not turn until you tilt the handle backwards to begin vacuuming.
Wand release / Using tools
Ensure machine is in upright position before using tools.
To protect your floors, the brushbar will not rotate when the machine is in an
upright position.
Ensure hair and loose clothing are kept dear of wand cap when machine is
switched on.
Ensure wand cap is dosed, unless using with tools.
Powerful suction can cause the hose to "pull back' - please take care when
cleaning stairs_
To avoid personal injury and to prevent the machine from falling when cleaning
stairs, always place it at the bottom of the stairs_
Do not use your vacuum deaner outdoors or on wet surfaces. Vacuum may
be used inside a garage only with the Model 08909 Dyson Car Cleaning Kit
accessories. If used in a garage, care should be taken to wipe the soleplate
and wheels with a dry cloth after vacuuming to dean off any sand, dirt,
or pebbles which could damage delicate floors_

Do not use detergents, polishes or air fresheners to dean the Clear Bin_2
Do not immerse the whole cyclone in waten
Do not put bin in a dishwasher.
Ensure bin is completely dry before replacing.
To dean the shroud (if necessary), be sure the bin has been emptied and bin base
is open. Separate the dear bin and dean shroud with a doth or small brush to
remove lint and dust
Washing your filter
Check your filter regularly and wash at least every 3-6 months according to
instructions to maintain performance.
The filter may require more frequent washing based on individual vacuuming
habits. Check regularly.
Turn power off and unplug before washing the filten Failure to do so could result
in electric shock or personal injury.
The filter may require more frequent washing if vacuuming fine dust
Do not use detergent to dean filten
Do not put the filter in the dishwasher, washing machine, clothes dryer, microwave
or near an open flame.
Air dry for at least ] 2 hours and ensure filter and case are completely dry before
refitting onto the machine.
Clearing blockages/brushbar
Please note: clearing blockages is not covered by your machine's limited warranty.
Turn power off and unplug before checking for blockages. Failure to do so could
result in electric shock or personal iniury.
If any part of your machine becomes blocked, it may overheat and then
automatically shut off. Unplug machine and leave to cool down. Clear blockage
before restarting.
If brushbar becomes obstructed, turn power off and unplug before checking for
blockages. Remove the blockage and press the RESETbutton located on the top
of the cleaner head before restarting vacuum.
Pleaseensure machine is upright before removing hose or airway inspection ports.
Beware of sharp objects when clearing blockages.
Refitall parts of the machine securely before using it

con la md_quina. Mantenga el cane aleiado de superficies calientes y llamas vivas.
] 0 No desenchufe la md_quina tirando del cable. Para desenchufarla, suiete el
enchufe, no el cable.
11 No toque el enchufe ni la mc_quina con las manos mojadas.
12 No use la rnd_quina sin el cubo transparente y los filtros en su sitio.
] 3 No tape las aberturas de la rnd_quina con obietos. No la utilice si las aberturas
estd_n bloqueadas; mant_ngala libre de polvo, hilos, cabellos y obietos capaces
de redudr el fluio de aire.
]4 Mantenga el cabello, la ropa, los dedos y el cuerpo aleiados de las aberturas
y piezas rn6viles de la mc_quina como pot eiemplo, el cepillo rotatorio.
] 5 No utilice la rnd_quina para recoger obietos duros cortantes, iuguetes pequeBos,
alfileres, suietapapeles, etc, ya que podrfan daFtar la mc_quina.
16 No se recomienda el uso de un cable de extensi6n.
] 7 Guarde la rnd_quina en interiores. Despu_s de usar la md_quina d4iela con el
cane enrollado de forrna segura para evitar accidentes.
18 Apague todos los rnandos antes de desenchufarla.
] 9 Preste especial atenci6n al limpiar las escaleras y trabaje siempre con la md_quina
colocada al pie de las escaleras. Mantenga la aspiradora en el piso. No la
coloque sobre sillas, mesas, etc.

22 AI aspirar, algunas alfombras pueden generar pequefias descargas de est@ica
en el cubo transparente o en el tubo. Estas no estdm asociadas al suministro de
corriente el_ctrica. Para minimizar sus efectos, no coloque su mano ni introduzca
ning0n obieto en el cubo transparente, a menos que primero Io haya vaciado
y lavado con agua fria.
23 No Ileve a cabo trabajos de rnantenimiento o reparaci6n aparte de los mostrados
en este rnanual o los aconseiados por la L_nea Directa de Asistencia al Cliente
de Dyson.
24 Consulte las instrucciones recomendadas por el fabricante de su piso antes de
aspirar y cuidar sus pisos y alfornbras. AIgunas alfornbras forrnardm pelusa si
utiliza el cepillo rotatorio mientras aspira. Si esto sucede, recornendarnos aspirar
en el modo de pisos expuestos y consultar con el fabricante de su piso.
