Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Dynex DX-FMRDS Mobile FM Transmitter and Charger for the Apple iPod®. This product features patented wireless technology and is engineered to provide easy listening to your favorite tunes while on the road. The mobile FM transmitter sends high-fidelity stereo signals from any iPod to your FM car radio or stereo within 15 feet.
Simple and convenient, the mobile FM transmitter and charger transmits all FM frequencies and simultaneously charges your iPod.

Important safety instructions

Read these instructions thoroughly before using your mobile FM transmitter and charger.
Do not attempt to set up or tune your mobile FM transmitter while your vehicle is in motion.
Do not attempt to open the casing of the mobile FM transmitter. Doing so voids your warranty. Do not allow moisture of any kind to come in contact with the mobile FM transmitter. Keep away from humidity and never immerse in water.
Do not drop the mobile FM transmitter. A severe jolt may cause permanent damage and is not covered by your warranty.
Follow this User Guide carefully and keep it for future reference. Follow the correct procedures when setting up the mobile FM transmitter.

Have the mobile FM transmitter checked by a service technician if any the following conditions are true:
•The mobile FM transmitter has been exposed to moisture.
•The mobile FM transmitter has been dropped and damaged.
•The mobile FM transmitter has obvious signs of breakage.
•The mobile FM transmitter is not working correctly or you can’t get it to work according to this User Guide.

Using the mobile FM transmitter and charger

To set up and use your mobile FM transmitter and charger:

1 Insert the mobile FM transmitter firmly into your car’s
cigarette lighter or power socket.
2 Tune your car's FM stereo to an unused FM frequency. 3 Plug the connector on the end of the cable into your
iPod.
Note: To disconnect, unplug it from your iPod.
4 Start your iPod player. Your mobile FM transmitter
turns on when an audio signal is detected.
5 Select the frequency from Step two above using the
up and down arrows on the front of your mobile FM transmitter.
Tip: The mobile FM transmitter works best
when the iPod volume is set be tween 50% to 75% of maximum. After you have tuned to the frequency and begun transmitting, adjust the volume to a comfortable level.
Tip: Your iPod may not automatically turn
off. Be sure to unplug it to stop playback and to deactivate charging before exiting your car.
Tip: The best station for transmitting is one
that may not be perfectly clear but also has clear or weak stations to either side of it in the FM band.

Using the mobile FM transmitter presets

To use the mobile FM transmitter presets:

1 Tune the transmitter to the desired FM frequency
using the tune up and tune down buttons.
Firmly press and hold one of the three preset buttons on
the front of the mobile FM transmitter for two seconds. This stores the station in memory. The display will blink briefly. A small indicator bar appears on the display opposite the newly programmed preset button.
Caution: Do not watch the display while
driving.
2 Repeat steps one and two to store two additional
stations with the two remaining buttons.
Tip: When the mobile FM transmitter is
turned off and restarted, it tunes to the last frequency used and the preset stations are in memory.

Using your mobile FM transmitter with an RDS-enabled radio receiver

To set up and use your mobile FM transmitter with an RDS-enabled radio receiver:
1 Tune your rece iver to the sa me frequenc y displayed o n
the face of the transmitter (or vice-versa).If your FM receiver is RDS enabled, the radio automatically shows 'Dynex' in its display (if no song is playing).
2 Enable "AF" mode in your receiver for advanced
functionality. (See your RDS-enabled receiver instruction manual for directions. Methods may vary.)
3 Plug the connector on the end of the cable into your
iPod.
4 Start your iPod player. Your mobile FM transmitter
turns on whenever an audio signal is detected.
5 The song title is automatically displayed on the FM
receiver after a few seconds.

Using advanced features of your mobile FM transmitter

To use advanced features of your mobile FM transmitter:

Autoseek: To automatically find the best
available station for use in your area, press BOTH tune up and tune down buttons together. The frequency numbers advance while the unit searches for clear stations.
Precision Auto-Off : The transmitter turns itself
off 60 seconds after the iPod stops playing or the last button press. If you are pressing buttons to find a clear station or program presets, the Auto-Off period will not commence until after the last button press.
Auto-On: When the transm itter is off, start your
iPod and the transmitter turns back on automatically.
Tip: A button press will also turn the
transmitter back on. The button press won't alter the frequency settings while turning on.

Warranty

One-Year Limited Warranty

Dynex Products (“Dynex”) warrants to you, the original purchaser
of this new DX-FMRDS (“Product”), that the Product shall be free of defects in the original manufacture of the material or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of your purchase of the Product (“Warranty Period”). This Product must be purchased from an authorized dealer of Dynex brand products and packaged with this warranty statement. This warranty does not cover refurbished Product. If you notify Dynex during the Warranty Period of a defect covered by this warranty that requires service, terms of this warranty apply.

How long does the coverage last?

The Warranty Period lasts for one year (365 days) from the date you
purchased the Product. The purchase date is printed on the receipt you received with the product.

What does this warranty cover?

During the Warranty Period, if the original manufacture of the
material or workmanship of the Product is determined to be defective by an authorized Dynex repair center or store personnel, Dynex will (at its sole option): (1) repair the Product with new or rebuilt parts; or (2) replace the Product at no charge with new or rebuilt comparable products or parts. Products and parts replaced under this warranty become the property of Dynex and are not returned to you. If service of Products and parts are required after the Warranty Period expires, you must pay all labor and parts charges. This warranty lasts as long as you own your Dynex Product during the Warranty Period. Warranty coverage terminates if you sell or otherwise transfer the Product.

How to obtain warranty service?

If you purchased the Product at a retail store location, take your
original receipt and the Product to the store you purchased it from. Make sure that you place the Product in its original packaging or packaging that provides the same amount of protection as the original packaging. If you purchased the Product from an online web site, mail your original receipt and the Product to the address listed on the web site. Make sure that you put the Product in its original packaging or packaging that provides the same amount of protection as the original packaging.

Where is the warranty valid?

This warranty is valid only to the original purchaser of the Product
in the United States and Canada.

What does the warranty not cover?

This warranty does not cover:
•Customer instruction
•Installation
•Set up adjustments
•Cosmetic damage
•Damage due to acts of God, such as lightning strikes
•Accident
•Misuse
•Abuse
•Negligence
•Commercial use
•Modification of any part of the Product
•This warranty also does not cover:
•Damage due to incorrect operation or maintenance
•Connection to an incorrect voltage supply
•Attempted repair by anyone other than a facility authorized by Dynex to service the Product
•Products sold as is or with all faults
•Consumables, such as fuses or batteries
•Products where the factory applied serial number has been altered or removed
