Installing the refrigeratorRM122, RM123
7Installing the refrigerator
7.1Preparing the installation
Observe the following instructions when installing the refrigerator:
•The refrigerator should not exceed an angle of inclination of 3° so that the refrig-
erant can be circulated properly. Make sure that the ice tray is level in the refrigerator and the vehicle is level.
•The refrigerator must be installed in a recess so that it remains fixed in place dur-
ing movement of the vehicle. The following are the recess dimensions of the
device (with lip seals fixed to both side walls at the back of the refrigerator):
(H x W x D in mm): 662 x 390 x 415.
•All surfaces around exhaust pipe and burner housing must be of or covered by
metal or other non-flammable material.
•In the outer wall an air inlet (fig. 3 1, page 3) and vent hole (fig. 3 2, page 3)
with ventilation grille has to be provided so that emerging heat can be properly
dissipated to the outside:
–air inlet: ventilation grille as flush as possible to the floor of the fitted niche with
a cross-section of at least 250 cm²
–vent hole: preferably above the device. Here a ventilation grille with inte-
grated exhaust gases duct can be used instead.
•If the air inlet's ventilation grille cannot be mounted flush to the floor, an
additional air inlet (fig. 3 4, page 3) must be provided in the floor to discharge
leaking gas.
•The air inlet and the vent hole must not be covered by vehicle components
(e.g. bumper or open door) during operation.
•At the back of the refrigerator there must be enough space so that air can
circulate around the cooling element. Ensure a 15 – 20 mm gap from cooling
pipe to wall.
•Provide a heat conducting plate (fig. 3 3, page 3) so that heat cannot build up
inside the vehicle.
•The refrigerator must be installed draught-proof according to EN 1949, see
chapter “Installing the refrigerator draught-proof” on page 15.
14
Page 15
EN
RM122, RM123Installing the refrigerator
7.2Installing the refrigerator draught-proof
Gas powered cooling devices in caravans and motorhomes must be as draughtproof installed according to EN 1949. This means that the combustion air won‘t be
taken from the living space and that the exhaust gases are prevented from direct
entry to the living space.
A suitable sealing between the back of the refrigerator and the interior of the vehicle
must be installed to room seal the back of this device.
WARNING! Fire hazards!
!
The manufacturer recommends using a flexible seal to simplify the assembly and disassembly for maintenance.
➤ Fix the lip seals (fig. 5 1, page 4) to both side walls at the back of the refrigera-
tor.
Do not use easily inflammable materials such as silicone sealants, installation foam, etc. for the draught-proof installation.
➤ Stick the inflammable foam tape on the top of the refrigerator and on the bottom
of the extension cover plate (fig. 5 2, page 4).
7.3Making air inlet and vent hole
NOTE
I
➤ Produce an air inlet and a vent hole in the outer wall. Observe the following
instructions, see chapter “Preparing the installation” on page 14.
If the air inlet's ventilation grille cannot be mounted flush to the floor of the fitted
niche, you must install a gas drop hole in the floor:
➤ Make a vent opening of a diameter of at least 40 mm on the ground behind the
refrigerator in the area of the gas burner (fig. 3 1, page 3). The vent pipe must
be routed directly to the outside, so any leaking unburnt gas can escape to the
outside.
At high ambient temperatures the refrigerator can only generate its
maximum cooling capacity if optimal ventilation and de-aeration are provided.
➤ Shield the end of the opening with a deflector to protect it from mud or dirt while
driving (fig. 6, page 4).
15
Page 16
EN
Installing the refrigeratorRM122, RM123
7.4Fixing the refrigerator

the particular installation) to the rear of the refrigerator by means of the two existing cooling unit fixing screws and to the rear wall of the caravan.
7.5Installing exhaust duct system
The flue gas is vented directly through the upper grille. Do not use any kind of aluminium flue pipe to lead the flue gas out.
➤ Align the T-piece (fig. g, page 8) at 45° with the exterior wall and fix it with
screws to the chimney tube.
7.6Installing the cover plate above the refrigerator door
➤ Screw a block of wood on each side with the dimensions 25 x 66 mm to both
sides of the recess.
➤ Mount the blocks 16 mm offset inwards, so that the cover plate is flush to the front
of the kitchen cabinet (fig. 8 2, page 5).
➤ Screw the cover plate on the blocks.
