specific MP3 discs.
Symptom: When playing back MP3 or JPEG file that has been recorded by
means of Windows XP, the operation noise (Track Jump) in the standby mode during the MP3 folder indication is too high. This occurs when recording the data on a disc by means of Windows XP. The data is always arranged near the Lead­out area, and the number of Track jump operations to the Lead-out area is increased. As a result, the operation noise has become audible.
Solution:
of Track Jumps is optimized. Please upgrade your customer's unit to "AK20 [Dr V040407A0]" upon claim.
The F/E (Front-end) firmware has been improved so that the number
1) Preparation of the CD-R for rewriting.
(1) Create the following folder on your PC and store the supplied program files for rewriting into the newly created folder. 99AK.bin (The FE firmware) aadummy.xxx (Dummy file)
• The Volume Label of the disc for upgrading shall be "RMC_LDR_DOWN". Please Note (about recording the Disc):
• When recording the supplied file on the blank CD-R, the format shall be "ISO9660" and the session shall be "CLOSE".
• When recording the supplied file on the disc, please use the lowest recording speed that is available on your PC. If the file is recorded at a higher speed, the rewriting operation may fail due to improperly recorded data on the disc.

2) The Upgrading Procedure of the F/E Firmware:
(1) Turn ON the Power of the unit, and open the Disc Tray. (2) Set the disc for upgrading F/E firmware into the Tray and close the Tray. (3) Several seconds later, the Disc Tray opens automatically. Take out the disc from the Tray. (4) Rewriting of the Firmware is executed. The rewriting operation completes when the Disc Tray automatically closes. (5) Turn off the Power of the unit once.
Note: Please do not turn off the Power of the unit or do not change the function of the unit during the rewriting operation. Also, the unit is capable of receiving control signal of the Remote Control. Therefore, please do not use the Remote Control Unit during the rewriting operation.
3) Confirmation and Initialization:
(1) Unplug the AC Cord of the unit from the AC Outlet. (2) While holding the "ON/STANDBY" and "SET/MENU" buttons down simultaneously, plug the AC Cord in the AC Outlet and release the buttons. (3) Press "ON/STANDBY" button to turn ON the Power of the unit. Then, select the "DVD" function by means of Function button. (4) Push "SET/MENU" button twice so that FL Display indicates "STATUS". Then, have the Versions of each MICON indicated by means of the "SURROUND/SELECT" Knob. Confirm that the version of the F/E is indicated as "Dr V040407A0". (5) Unplug the AC Cord of the unit from the AC Outlet. While holding the "PLAY/PAUSE" and "STOP" buttons down simultaneously, plug the AC Cord in the AC Outlet. Release the buttons when the LED of the "ON/STANDBY" button lit in orange. (6) The Power of the unit turns on automatically. Confirm that "INITIALIZE" is indicated on the FL Display.

If the version of the F/E could not be confirmed, the rewriting has failed. In this case, please replace the IC on the RL-S871 Mechanism Unit Ass'y with the IC outlined in the PARTS section.
