Subject: Informing you of new part number of the Traverse Mechanism, and
Symptom: Regarding the DVD Mechanism (RL-S871 and 874) that is used to
the subject models, we will use the following new Traverse Mechanism due to the change of the Pick-up of the DVD Mechanism. Also, the Front-end Firmware has to be updated according to the change in the Pick-up.
Solution:
Record the file onto a blank CD-R, and update the Front-end Firmware on the above models after replacement of the Traverse Mechanism.
Note: When replacing the Traverse Mechanism, please order the following new Traverse Mechanism.
• New Part Number of the Traverse Mechanism:
MODIFICATION: (Upon repair and/or refurbishment of the unit)
• Program File to be supplied: File Name: 99ak.bin Version: AK24 / 050303a0
• The dummy file to be recorded together with the program file: File Name: aadummy.zip

CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE:
• The Volume Label of CD-R must be "RMC_LDR_DOWN". Caution:
• When recording the file(s) on a blank CD-R, the format shall be "ISO9660" and the session shall be "CLOSE".
• When recording the program file on the CD-R, please record it at the 4-times speed of the normal speed.
• When the 4-times speed is not available, please record it at the minimum speed that is available in your machine.
• If the file was recorded at a high speed, such as 32 or 48 times speed of the normal speed, the upgrading may fail due to the data incorrectly recorded on the CD-R.
Rewriting procedures of the Front-end Firmware: (1) Turn the Power of the unit on, and open the Disc Tray. (2) Set the CD-R disc for updating the Front-end Firmware to the Tray and close the Disc Tray. (3) Several seconds later, the Disc Tray opens automatically. Take out the disc from the Tray. (4) Wait until the Disc Tray closes automatically since the unit is performing the rewriting operation. (5) The Disc Tray closes automatically. After confirming the indication of "NO DISC" or "0:00:00" turn the Power of the unit off.
Note: Please do not turn the Power of the unit off or change the function during the rewriting operation, by any means. Also, the unit is capable of receiving Remote Control signals even though you are in the rewriting operation. Therefore, please pay special attention so that the Remote Control is not operated during the operation.
Confirmation and Initialization: (1) According to the specified procedures for each model, confirm that the Version of the Front-end Firmware is "AK24" or "050303a0". (2) Initialize the unit according to the specified procedures for each model.
Serial Number Range:
Please apply the above modification to all the models in the field upon repair and/or refurbishment of the unit.
