USEFUL TIPS
• The original appearance and softness of fabrics such as velvet or wool, or gloves, bags etc. can be restored by passing the iron a short distance away with the steam jet in operation (vertical ironing programme).
• To remove the marks left by furniture and restore carpets to new, allow the steam to penetrate into the flattened pile and brush lightly.
• Do not rest or use the iron on zips, hooks, rings etc to avoid scratching the sole plate.
• Keep the surface of the sole plate clean. To clean, wipe the cold surface with a damp cloth. The iron must never be treated with descaling products.
• After use, always wait for the iron to cool down before putting away. When the iron is hot, take care not to touch the tank.
• Store the iron in a dry place.
• After ironing, the water remaining in the tank need not be drained. However, the appliance should be drained of water if left unused for long periods.
• Separate clothes according to the recommended
11
ironing temperature and begin ironing with items requiring the lowest temperatures.
• Silk may be dry-pressed on the reverse.
• Wool, cotton and fine linen can either be steamironed on the reverse or on the right side, interposing a thin cloth between the iron and the fabric to avoid “shine”. Starched fabrics require greater moisture. Iron whites and light colours on the right side and dark colours on the reverse. Embroidery should also be ironed on the reverse to make it stand out.
• Each time the iron is used (including for the first time) or if you have not used steam for several minutes, press the steam delivery button a number of times away from the ironing board. This will eliminate cold water from the steam circuit.
• During use, the iron can be rested in a "vertical" position (see figure below). However, make sure the surface is even to avoid the iron falling over.
• In models with domestic iron, the iron can be secured in position to put it away safely (see fig.
8)
Important: never move the appliance using the iron as a carrying handle.
PREPARATIONS FOR USE
The appliance works with normal tap water. Never
use other types of water, chemical substances or detergents (e.g. perfumed water, essences, water softener, etc).
Filling the tank and connecting to the mains
Make sure the cable is unplugged from the mains socket.
• The first time you use the iron, insert the limescale filter provided (fig. 1). The appliance does
not operate without the limescale filter: use of the appliance when the limescale filter is
exhausted invalidates the guarantee. NB: the filter does not need to be removed after
each ironing session, but only when it needs replacing or regenerating (see "LIMESCALE FILTER").
• Open the door of the tank and fill (fig. 2).
• Insert the tank (fig. 3).
• Plug the appliance into a mains socket (fig. 4).
OPERATION
•To steam iron, press the (iron on) and (steam generator on) switches (fig. 5). The lights on both buttons come on.
N.B: When used for the first time, the appliance may give off smoke and an odour for several minutes. This is caused by heating and subsequent drying of the sealers used in assembling the steam generator and iron. The room should be ventilated. It is also normal to hear the noise of the pump conveying water to the steam generator.
• Position the thermostat regulation knob (E) in the area indicated in the figure according to the type of fabric to be ironed (THERMOSTAT REGULATION TABLE). Before ironing, wait until the "steam ready" (I) and "iron at temperature" (C) lights go off (fig.
7).
N.B: both lights will go on and off during ironing, according to the temperature reached by the steam generator and iron. It is part of normal operation and not a cause for concern. While ironing, it is normal to hear the water fill pump come on and go off. This is caused by transfer of water from the tank to the steam generator.

The steam regulation knob (G) enables the quantity of steam to be increased or decreased. N.B: When you turn the iron on, you are recommended to turn the steam regulation knob to the maximum steam position. To steam iron, the temperature must be equal to or greater than .
Steam discharge in models with professional iron NB: For convenience, in models with both the but-
ton (A) and trigger (D), you can choose to use either the top button or the bottom trigger as you prefer. In certain models with professional iron, a slide (B) allows a continuous output of steam to be obtained by keeping the steam button pressed down mechanically, avoiding the need to do so manually. To use, simply press the button (B) and slide the lock backwards. To release the button, slide the lock forwards.
Steam discharge in models with domestic iron
To deliver steam, rotate the wheel forwards. The wheel can be rotated from the bottom of the handgrip (fig. 7). To obtain continuous steam rotate the wheel for- wards until it locks into place. In models with domestic iron, the iron can be secured for safe transport (see fig. 8).
Never move or lift the appliance using the iron as a carrying handle.
Topping up the tank with water
When the water in the tank has run out, steam discharge stops and the pump becomes noisier. This is part of normal operation and is not a cause for concern. However, you should immediately top up the water in the tank, proceeding as described in the paragraph "Filling the tank".
DRY IRONING
• Plug the appliance into the mains.
•Press the switch to turn power to the appliance on. The lights (H) and (C) come on.
• Position the thermostat regulation knob (E), according to the type of fabric to be ironed (see Thermostat Regulation table).
N.B: When the iron has reached the selected temperature, the light (C) goes out.
REGENERATE THE LIMESCALE FILTER
The iron is fitted with a resin limescale filter in the tank, enabling normal tap water to be used. The resins reduce water hardness and therefore prolong the working life of the iron. The filter must be regenerated or replaced when it loses efficiency. The frequency with which it should be regenerated depends on the water hardness and time of use. A water hardness indicator paper is included in the packaging.
• dip the paper in the water for 1 second,
• shake it to remove excess water;
• wait for 1 minute;
• check the result in the "filter regeneration or replacement table" to verify water hardness.
Once the type of water has been identified, check in the "filter regeneration or replacement table" how often the limescale filter should be regenerated or replaced, bearing in mind that the times indicated are calculated on the basis of three ironing sessions a week. If the ironing system is used for longer, the filter should be replaced more often. The life of the filter halves as the ironing hours double.

Regenerate the filter
Proceed as follows:
•Turn the appliance off by pressing the and buttons and unplug from the mains socket.
• Remove the water tank (N).
• Remove the limescale filter (P).
• Place the limescale filter in the filter holder (fig.
9). (You are recommended to do this over the kitchen sink).
• Attach the tank to the limescale filter.
• Dissolve the contents of the sachet of citric acid
supplied (T) in a litre jug of tap water.
• Pour the resulting solution into the tank and
allow all the contents to pass through the filter (about 20 minutes), then wait for a minimum of 40 minutes to regenerate the limescale filter.
•To rinse the limescale filter, fill the water tank
with 1 litre of tap water and allow all the contents to pass through the filter.
•When the operation is completed, put the filter
and tank back in place.
• The appliance is ready for use.
NB: Regeneration of the limescale filter extends the efficient working life of the iron. After five years use, the filter should be replaced. Sachets of
citric acid and the limescale filter are available from authorised service centres.
AFTER IRONING
After finishing ironing, you should put the ironing system away with the door tightly closed to avoid dust and foreign bodies falling into the tank and possibly jeopardising operation of the pump. Place
the iron on the iron rest (in the secured position for models with domestic iron (B)) and wait for the system to cool down before putting it away.
PLUSES OF THE IRONING SYSTEM
High pressure for drier more constant steam
Water softener system to reduce the build up of lime scale in the steam generator
The constant fill system enables you to iron without interruption.
Provides vertical steam to iron jackets and curtains.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION (UK ONLY)
A) If your appliance comes fitted with a plug, it will incorporate a 13
Amp fuse. If it does not fit your socket, the plug should be cut off from the mains lead, and an appropriate plug fitted, as below. WARNING: Very carefully dispose of the cut off plug after removing the fuse: do not insert in a 13 Amp socket elsewhere in the house as this could cause a shock hazard. With alternative plugs not incorporating a fuse, the circuit must be protected by a 15 Amp fuse.
If the plug is a moulded-on type, the fuse cover must be re-fitted
when changing the fuse using a 13 Amp Asta approved fuse to BS
1362. In the event of losing the fuse cover, the plug must NOT be used until a replacement fuse cover can be obtained from your nearest electrical dealer. The colour of the correct replacement fuse cover is that as marked on the base of the plug.
B) If your appliance is not fitted with a plug, please follow the instruc-
tions provided below:
WARNING - THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
IMPORTANT
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code:
Green and yellow: Earth Blue: Neutral Brown: Live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: The green and yellow wire must be connected to the terminal in the plug marked with the letter E or the earth symbol or coloured green or green and yellow. The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter N or coloured black. The brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter L or coloured red.
