Remove the fire from the packaging, checking that neither the fire nor the power cable has been damaged during transport. Do not operate the fire if damaged. The pebbles can be found in one of the two long brown boxes that fit down either side of the fire, so ensure that the accessories are removed before discarding the boxes.
INSTALLATION OF THE FIRE
Your fire is designed for use against a flat wall surface, and a spacer frame is supplied to enable it to fit flush. Alternatively you can use within an existing chimney or as part of a fireplace mantel and surround suite. The rebate depth is standard at 2

/4 inches (7cm) which should fit perfectly.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTION (UK Only)
Your appliance comes fitted with a plug and will incorporate a 13 amp fuse. If it does not fit your socket, the plug should be cut off from the mains lead and an appropriate one fitted as below. WARNING: Very carefully dispose of the cut off plug after removing the fuse: do not insert in a 13 amp socket elsewhere in the house as this could cause a shock hazard. With alternative plugs not incorporating a fuse the circuit must be protected by a 15 amp fuse. If the plug is a moulded-on type, the fuse cover must be refitted when changing the fuse using a 13amp Astra approved fuse to BS1362. In the event of losing the fuse cover, the plug must not be used until a replacement fuse cover can be obtained from your nearest electrical dealer. The colour of the correct replacement fuse cover is that marked on the base of the plug.
WARNING- THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
IMPORTANT
The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code;
Green and yellow: EARTH Blue: NEUTRAL Brown: LIVE
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: The green and yellow wire must be connected to the terminal in the plug marked with the letter E or
the earth symbol and yellow. The blue wire must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter N or coloured black. The brown wire must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter L or coloured red.
or coloured green or green
Should you wish to connect the fire to a fused spur, this must be carried out by a competent electrician in accordance with the IEE wiring regulations.
Where the inset fire is being used in an existing chimney, it is important that the chimney is blocked off to prevent airflow problems within the fire. Where a chimney is not blocked off sufficiently the heater may cut out and the flame effect stop, or work poorly.
