Information Update—Dell OpenManage Server Support Kit Version 4.3

This document is to inform you about the updated Dell OpenManage™ version 4.3 server support kit and provides the following information:

Dell OpenManage Version 4.3 Features and Enhancements

The Dell OpenManage server support kit version 4.3 implements native operating system installation tools to install systems management software on your Dell PowerEdge™ systems (for example, Microsoft The new installation procedure provides faster software installations and smaller package sizes, as well as dependency checking and native operating system installation features. Dell Server Update Utility Overview

The Dell Server Update Utility (SUU) identifies and applies driver and firmware updates to your PowerEdge system. SUU compares the drivers and firmware versions on your system with the components installed on the SUU CD repository and allows you to apply the necessary updates to your system, if required.

Before you install Dell OpenManage 4.3 on your PowerEdge system, run the SUU to ensure that your system is running the latest drivers and firmware. See the

NOTE: The Dell OpenManage Subscription Service CD Kit includes the Dell PowerEdge Updates CD.

This utility is not included with the Dell OpenManage server support kit version 4.3 that ships with PowerEdge systems, but is available from the Dell Support website at support.dell.com.

Upgrading Your Systems Management Software with the Dell OpenManage Server Support Kit Version 4.3

All future Dell OpenManage updates will be based on Dell OpenManage 4.3 technologies. Because version 4.4 and later will not upgrade Dell OpenManage versions prior to version 4.3, Dell highly recommends upgrading your Dell OpenManage products to version 4.3. The installation procedure saves your current system settings and upgrades your PowerEdge systems to Dell OpenManage 4.3. This process ensures that your PowerEdge systems are running the latest software and firmware updates.

Dell OpenManage Server Support Kit Version 4.3 Contents

To simplify and improve software installation and server management, the Dell OpenManage products are organized onto four separate CDs. Each CD contains the appropriate software products for a particular task, simplifying software installation and systems management.

Table 1 provides a description of each Dell OpenManage customer kit CD and its contents. Use Figure 1 to locate the appropriate Dell OpenManage products that are referenced in your Dell documentation.
