WARNING: To guard against electrical shock, always unplug your computer from the
electrical outlet before removing and replacing parts on the computer.
The hard-drive cable kit prevents the hard-drive cable from getting bent or damaged, while replacing the the bottom base cover. The kit consists of:
•hard-drive flex cable
rubber bumper
To install the hard-drive cable kit:

Remove the bottom base cover and the battery.

Disconnect the ends of the existing hard-drive flex cable from the system board and hard-drive connectors.

Peel the hard-drive flex cable away from the system board.

Arrange the hard-drive flex cable to allow space for the rubber bumper.

Peel the double sided tape to attach the rubber bumper to the computer.
NOTE: Paste the rubber bumper as shown in the image below to protect the
replacement cable from being cut by the edge of the card-reader board.

6 Re-assemble the cable on adding the rubber bumper.
NOTE: The cable should be pressed between the board and the hard drive.
7 Fix the double-sided tape over the cable and the rubber bumper to ensure
the cable is secured.

Gently peel the double-sided tape on the replacement hard-drive flex cable.

Connect the hard-drive flex cable end labeled
HDD
to the connector on the
hard-drive.

Connect the other end of the hard-drive flex cable to the connector on the system board.

Press the hard-drive flex cable to ensure that the double-sided tape sticks to the edge of the card-reader board.

Replace the bottom base cover and the battery.

Removing the Hard-Drive Cable Kit

To remove the hard-drive cable kit follow the steps in reverse order.
CAUTION: While replacing the bottom base cover, do not exert pressure to avoid
damaging the hard-drive flex cable.
