District cooling substations for commercial, industrial and residential buildings
Designed for cooling application
District cooling substation is designed for industrial, commercial and residential building applications connected to a district cooling network. Building owners save space by using pre-fabricated skids compared to build-on-site solutions, and experience proves a lot lower investment costs. Further there is a complexity reduction as mechanically and electrically installations reduces the requirement to skills of workforce. Danfoss has more than 40 years of experience in production of substations, which guarantees great functionality.
High ΔT guaranteed
Smaller substations are designed with MicroPlate® brazed – and the larger equipped with gasket heat exchangers from the Danfoss XGF range. Both heat exchanger types ensure that substations will have high eciency, reduced service cost and longer life time in compare with traditional cooling systems. The combination of Danfoss` ECL controller with differential pressure, temperature and ow control valves oers an excellent temperature control and hydronic balancing of the network. As result of using pressure independent control valves “low ΔT syndrome” is avoided, when Danfoss` guidance for the HVAC installations is followed.
Remote controlling and monitoring
Danfoss automatic controller ECL oers more possibilities for external communication. Traditional SCADA solutions can communicate with the controller via a Modbus protocol. Further Danfoss oers a web-based SCADA solution called ECL portal (ecl. portal.danfoss.com), which enables remote controlling, monitoring and alarming functionalities from the substation. Visualization of the ECL portal gives you easiness of use, and access via PC or Smartphone improves the level of service and reduce costs due to 24/7 access.
Prefabricated substations enable top quality and shorten installation work on the building site
District cooling substations are produced based on a 3D model prepared by our design department. Based on customer requirements all components like: heat exchangers, control valves, pumps and measuring equipment are virtually placed inside the technical room and connected with piping. Based on 3D-drawings pipes are bent, cut and welded with support of automated machines ensuring supreme quality and short delivery time. Large substations are designed as modular constructions,
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
• Substations with high quality components designed for cooling applications fully customized by use of 3D-tools to t individual needs
• All control components in the substation are high quality Danfoss components like: heat exchanger, control valves, shut-o valves, energy meter, shuto valves and automatic controls
• Danfoss prefabricated substations reduces space demand approximately 30% compared to build-on-site solutions
• Easy to install and use with remote access via Internet or via other communication protocols like MODBUS or Danfoss free cloud based ECL Portal
• All Danfoss products are manufactured according PED 97/23/ EC European Pressure Directive, and Danfoss is compliant to ISO9001/ISO14001/ TS16949 automotive standards to ensure error free products
which makes transportation and assembly easier. Substation includes an electrical wired panel, which is functionally tested and ready to use after connecting power supply to the cooling substation on site. Special pipe clamps prevent thermal bridges and condensation at support points. Danfoss substation is a complete product: designed, produced and tested – ready for use.
