This product is factory equipped with a power supply cord that has a three-pronged grounded plug. It must be plugged into a mating grounding type receptacle in accordance with the National Electrical Code and applicable local codes and ordinances. If the circuit does not have a grounding type receptacle, it is the responsibility and obligation of the customer to exchange the existing receptacle in accordance with the National Electrical Code and applicable local codes and ordinances. The third ground prong should not, under any circumstances, be cut or removed. Never use the cord, the plug or the appliance when they show any sign of damage. For your safety the information in this manual must be followed to minimize the risk of ﬁ re or explosion or to prevent property damage, personal injury or loss of life. Do not attempt to operate this oven with the door open since open-door operation can result in harmful exposure to microwave energy. It is important not to defeat or tamper with the safety interlocks. Do not place any object between the oven front face and the door, or allow soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces. Do not operate the oven if it is damaged. It is particularly important that the oven door close properly and that there is no damage to the:

1. door (bent),

2. hinges and latches (broken or loosened),

IMPORTANT WARNING

To reduce the risk of ﬁ re, electric shock or injury to persons or exposure of excessive microwave energy when using your appliance, please adhere to the following instructions:

1. Read all instructions before using the appliance.

2. Read and follow the speciﬁ c “PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY.”

3. This appliance must be grounded. Connect only to properly grounded outlet. See “GROUNDING INSTRUC-

TIONS.”

4. Install or locate this appliance only in accordance with the provided installation instructions.

5. Some products such as whole eggs and sealed containers -for example, closed glass jars- are able to explode and should not be heated in this oven.

6. Use this appliance only for its intended use as described in this manual. Do not use corrosive chemicals or vapors in this appliance. This type of oven is speciﬁ cally designed to heat, cook, or dry food. It is not designed for industrial or laboratory use.

7. As with any appliance, close supervision is necessary when used by children.

8. To reduce the risk of ﬁ re in the oven cavity:

• Do not overcook food. Carefully attend appliance when paper, plastic, or other combustible materials are placed inside the oven to facilitate cooking.

• Remove wire twist-ties from paper or plastic bags before placing bag in oven.

• If materials inside the oven should ignite, keep oven door closed, turn oven off, and disconnect the power cord or shut off power at the fuse or circuit breaker panel.

• Do not use the cavity for storage purposes. Do not leave paper products, cooking utensils or food in the cavity when not in use.

9. Liquids, such as water, coffee, or tea are able to be

overheated beyond the boiling point without appearing to be boiling due to the surface tension of the liquid. Visible bubbling or boiling when the container is removed from the microwave oven is not always present. THIS COULD RESULT IN VERY HOT LIQUIDS SUDDENLY BOILING OVER WHEN A SPOON OR OTHER UTENSIL IS INSERTED INTO THE LIQUID. To reduce the risk of injury to persons:

• Do not overheat the liquid.

• Stir the liquid both before and halfway through heating it.

• Do not use straight-sided containers with narrow

necks.

• After heating, allow the container to stand in the microwave oven for a short time before removing the container.

• Use extreme care when inserting a spoon or other utensil into the container.

10. Do not heat oil or fat for deep-frying. It is difﬁ cult to

control the temperature of oil in a microwave oven.

11. Pierce foods with heavy skins such as potatoes,

whole squash, apples and chestnuts before cooking.

12. The contents of feeding bottles and baby jars should

be stirred or shaken and the temperature should be checked before serving in order to avoid burns.

13. Cooking utensils may become hot because of heat

transferred from the heated food. Oven mitts may be needed to handle the utensil.

14. Do not cover or block any openings on the appli-

ance.

15. Do not store or use this appliance outdoors. Do not

use this product near water, for example, near a kitchen sink, in a wet basement, near a swimming pool, or similar locations.

16. Do not operate this appliance if it has a damaged

cord or a plug, if it is not working properly or if it has been damaged or dropped.

17. Do not immerse the cord or plug in water. Keep the

cord away from heated surfaces. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter.

18. Use only thermometers, which are speciﬁ cally de-

signed for use in microwave ovens.

19. Do not operate any heating or cooking appliance

beneath this appliance.

20. Be certain that the glass tray and roller rings are in

place when you operate the oven.

21. This appliance should be serviced only by qualiﬁ ed

service personnel. Contact the nearest authorized service facility for examinations, repair, or adjustment.

22. When cleaning surfaces of the door and the oven

that come together when the door is closed, use only mild, non-abrasive soaps or detergents, applied with a sponge or soft cloth.

SAFETY FACT

If you see arcing, press the “STOP” button and correct the problem. Arcing is the microwave term for sparks in the oven.

Arcing is caused by:

• Metal or foil touching the side of the oven.

• Foil not molded to food (upturned edges act like antennae).

• Metal, such as twist-ties, poultry pins, or gold-rimmed dishes, in the microwave.

• Recycled paper towels containing small metal pieces being used in the microwave.

• Only cook popcorn in your microwave oven using a special microwave popcorn accessory dish, unless you use popcorn labeled for use in microwave ovens.

• Some products- such as whole eggs (with shell), sealed containers, and closed jars - will explode and should not be heated in this microwave oven. Heating these products in the microwave oven could result in injury.

• Do not boil eggs in a microwave oven. Pressure will build up inside egg yolk and will cause it to burst, possibly resulting in injury.

• Operating the microwave with no food inside may cause damage to the oven and could start a ﬁ re. It increases the heat around the magnetron and can shorten the life of the oven.

• Foods with unbroken outer “skin” such as potatoes, hot dogs, sausages, tomatoes, apples, chicken livers and other giblets, and egg yolks should be pierced to allow steam to escape before cooking.

• Microwaved water and other liquids do not always bubble when they reach the boiling point; they can actually get superheated and not bubble at all. Superheated liquid can bubble up when it is moved or when something like a spoon or tea bag is put into it. To prevent this from happening and causing injury, do not heat any liquid for more than 2 minutes per cup. After heating, let the cup stand in the microwave for 30 seconds before moving it or putting anything into it.

• Avoid heating baby food in glass jars, even with the lid off. Make sure all infant food is thoroughly cooked. Stir food to distribute the heat evenly. Be careful to prevent scalding when warming formula. The container may feel cooler than the milk really is. Always test the milk before feeding the baby.

• Spontaneous boiling- Under certain circumstances, liquids may start to boil during or shortly after removal from the microwave oven. To prevent burns from splashing liquid, we recommend the following:

Before removing the container from the oven, allow the container to stand in the oven for 30 to 40 seconds. Do not boil liquids in narrow-necked containers such as soft drink bottles and especially narrow-necked coffee cups. Even if the container is opened, excessive steam can build up and cause it to burst or overﬂ ow.

• Don’t defrost frozen beverages in narrow-necked bottles (especially carbonated beverages). Even if the container is opened, pressure can build up. This can cause the container to burst, possibly resulting in injury.

• Hot foods and steam can cause burns. Be careful when opening any containers of hot food, including popcorn bags, cooking pouches and boxes. To prevent possible injury, direct steam away from hands and face.

• Do not overcook potatoes. They could dehydrate and catch ﬁ re, causing dam- age to your oven.

• Cook meat and poultry thoroughly- meat to at least an INTERNAL temperature of 160°F (71.1°C), and poultry to at least an INTERNAL temperature of 180°F (82.2°C). Cooking to these temperatures usually protects against food borne illness.

PERMISSIBLE MATERIALS

Tightly-closed containers could explode. Closed containers should be opened and plastic pouches should be pierced

before cooking.

This section lists which utensils can be used in the microwave, which ones have limited use for short periods, and which ones should not be used in the microwave.

RECOMMENDED

Microwave browning dish — Use to brown the exterior of small items such as steaks, chops, or pancakes. Follow the

directions provided with your browning dish. Microwaveable plastic wrap — Use to retain steam. Leave a small opening for some steam to escape and avoid placing

it directly on the food. Paper towels and napkins — Use for short-term heating and covering; these absorb excess moisture and prevent spat-

tering. Do not use recycled paper towels, which may contain metal and could ignite.

Glass and glass-ceramic bowls and dishes — Use for heating or cooking. Paper plates and cups — Use for short-term heating at low temperatures. Do not use recycled paper, which may contain

metal and could ignite.

Wax paper — Use as a cover to prevent spattering. Thermometers — Use only those labeled “Microwave Safe” and follow all directions. Check the food in several places.

Conventional thermometers may be used on microwave food once the food has been removed from the oven.

LIMITED USE

Aluminum foil — Use narrow strips of foil to prevent overcooking of exposed areas. Using too much foil can damage

your oven, so be careful. You should keep a distance of 1 inch (2.54 cm) between the aluminum foil and the microwave cavity.

Ceramic, porcelain, and stoneware— Use these if they are labeled “Microwave Safe.” If they are not labeled, test them to make sure they can be used safely.

Plastic — Use only if labeled “Microwave Safe”. Other plastics can melt.

NOT RECOMMENDED

Glass jars and bottles — Regular glass is too thin to be used in a microwave. It can shatter and cause damage and

injury.

Paper bags — These are a ﬁ re hazard, except for popcorn bags that are designed for microwave use. Styrofoam plates and cups — These can melt and leave an unhealthy residue on food. Plastic storage and food containers — Containers such as margarine tubs can melt in the microwave. Metal utensils — These can damage your oven. Remove all metal before cooking. Note:

Should you wish to check if a dish is safe for microwaving, place the empty dish in the oven and microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds. A dish which becomes very hot should not be used.

Touching some of the internal components can cause serious injury or death. DO NOT disassemble this appliance.

WARNING: ELECTRIC SHOCK HAZARD

Improper grounding can result in electric shock. Do not plug unit into an outlet until the appliance is properly grounded.

This appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electric shock by providing an escape wire for the electric current. This appliance comes with a cord that is equipped with a grounding wire and grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded.

Consult a qualiﬁ ed electrician or serviceperson if the grounding instructions are not completely understood or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded. If it is necessary to use an extension cord, use only a 3-wire extension cord that has a 3-pronged grounding plug, and a 3-slot receptacle that will accept the plug on the appliance. The marked rating of the extension cord shall be equal to or greater than the electrical rating of the appliance.

A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.

Longer cord sets or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If a long cord set or extension cord is used:

1. The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance

2. The extension cord must be a grounding type 3 wire cord, and;

3. The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it could be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

COUNTERTOP INSTALLATION

1. Make sure that all the packing materials are removed from the inside of the door or on cabinet surface. Do not remove

the light brown mica sheet that is attached to the oven cavity to protect the magnetron.

2. Check the oven for any damage, such as a misaligned or bent door, damaged door seals and sealing surface, broken

or loose door hinges and latches and dents inside the cavity or on the door. If there is any damage, do not operate the oven but contact qualiﬁ ed service personnel

3. This microwave oven must be placed on a ﬂ at, stable surface to hold its weight and the heaviest food likely to be

cooked in the oven.

4. Do not place the oven where heat, moisture, or high humidity are generated, or near combustible materials.

5. For correct operation, the oven must have sufﬁ cient airﬂ ow. Allow 30cm of space above the oven, 10 cm at back and

10 cm at both sides (see diagram). Do not cover or block any openings on the appliance. Do not remove feet on which oven stands.

6. Do not operate the oven without glass tray, roller support, and shaft in their proper positions.

7. Make sure that the power supply cord is undamaged and does not run under the oven or over any hot or sharp surface.

8. The socket must be readily accessible so that it can be easily unplugged in an emergency. The socket must have the

same voltage and frequency as the rating label of the appliance.

9. Place the microwave oven away from radios and tvs to avoid interference.

1. Touch CLOCK pad once to display a 12 hour clock, press CLOCK twice to display a 24 hour clock.

2. Use the number pads to enter the correct time.

3. Touch CLOCK pad again or START.

1. Enter the amount of cooking time, in minutes and seconds, by touching the number pads. (The maximum time that can be set is 99 minutes and 99 seconds).

2. Press “POWER” once, the display will show “P100.” The default power level is 100%. You can adjust the power level pressing the Power button multiple times.

3. Press “START” to start cooking.

1. Touch KITCHEN TIMER.

2. Enter the amount of time by touching the number pads (the maximum time is 99 minutes 99 seconds).

3. Touch START.

ECO

To use the ECO function:

1. Press the ECO button once, the display will darken. When you press any button or open the microwave door the ECO mode will be disabled and the display will return to the default setting.

2. Press and hold the ECO button for 5 seconds, the unit will beep, this will activate the ECO button and the default setting will be ECO mode, meaning when you press a button or open the door, after 1-2 minutes of no activity, the unit will default to ECO mode again. To turn off ECO mode, press and hold the ECO button for another 5 seconds, the unit will beep.

CHILD LOCK

The Child Lock prevents children from operating the microwave without supervision.

• To set the lock, while the unit is in standby mode, press and hold the Stop/Clear button for 3 seconds, the unit will beep. The clock will display, but the microwave will not operate.

• To cancel the lock, press and hold the Stop/Clear button for 3 seconds, the unit will beep. The microwave will now operate.

Note: When the child lock is active, after pressing any button, the display will show “LOC” and the unit will beep.

COOKING TECHNIQUES

Your microwave makes cooking easier than conventional cooking, provided you keep these considerations in mind:

STIRRING - Stir foods such as casseroles and vegetables while cooking to distribute heat evenly. Food at the outside

of the dish absorbs more energy and heats more quickly, so stir from the outside to the centre. The oven will turn off when you open the door to stir your food.

ARRANGEMENT - Arrange unevenly shaped foods, such as chicken pieces or chops, with the thicker, meatier parts

toward the outside of the turntable where they receive more microwave energy. To prevent overcooking, place delicate items, such as asparagus tips, toward the centre of the turntable.

SHIELDING - Shield food with narrow strips of aluminum foil to prevent overcooking. Areas that need shielding include

poultry wing tips, the ends of poultry legs, and corners of square baking dishes. Use only small amounts of aluminum foil. Larger amounts can damage your oven.

TURNING - Turn foods over midway through cooking to expose all parts to microwave energy. This is especially impor-

tant with large foods such as roasts.

STANDING - Foods cooked in the microwave build up internal heat and continue to cook for a few minutes after heat-

ing stops. Let foods stand to complete cooking, especially foods such as cakes and whole vegetables. Roasts need this time to complete cooking in the centre without overcooking the outer areas. All liquids, such as soup or hot chocolate, should be shaken or stirred when cooking is complete. Let liquids stand a moment before serving. When heating baby food, stir well at removal and test the temperature before serving.

ADDING MOISTURE - Microwave energy is attracted to water molecules. Food that is uneven in moisture content

should be covered or allowed to stand so that the heat disperses evenly. Add a small amount of water to dry food to help it cook.
