Having established a loyal following during a 12 year period for high quality
amplifiers and tuners, Creek Audio announced the release of a CD player
resembling the 4240 Integrated amplifier and Pre-Power combination. Over a
period of a year, research and development resulted in a product combining
specialist parts from a range of different suppliers. A rugged laser transport
and digital control circuitry has been matched to the highest quality 1 bit, 64
times oversampled delta-sigma D to A converter. It features digital deemphasis and low residual noise, requiring no analogue output filtering. This
results in a fast operating CD player with sound quality, matching much
higher priced players, in the true Creek mould.
Front panel controls which include Play, Stop, Pause, Skip Forward, Skip
Back and Open/Close functions, are supplemented by a modest sized full
feature remote control handset. Track position and other useful information
is displayed on a liquid crystal, back-lit display.
To provide a useful upgrade path, the 1 bit D to A converter, a high quality
master clock generator and AES-EBU digital output are sighted on a separate
printed circuit board that can be easily removed and replaced by new or
emerging technologies in the future.
A high grade grain-oriented steel transformer with separate windings, feeding
separate stabilised power supplies for digital and analogue sections, provides
the highest degree of isolation and low noise performance possible.
