Read and understand this manual and
all labels on the ash vacuum before
operating. Safety is a combination
of common sense, staying alert and
knowing how your vacuum works. Use
this ash vacuum only as described in this
manual. To reduce the risk of personal
injury or damage to your ash vacuum,
use only recommended accessories.

When using an electrical appliance,
basic precautions should always be
followed including the following:

• Do not vacuum, or use this ash vacuum
near flammable liquids, gases, or
explosive vapors like gasoline or
other fuels, lighter fluids, cleaners, oil-

based paints, natural gas, hydrogen,
or explosive dusts like coal dust,
magnesium dust, grain dust, or gun
power. Sparks inside the motor can
ignite flammable vapors or dust.

• Do not vacuum anything that is burning
or smoking, such as cigarettes,
matches, or hot ashes.

• Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

• Do not expose to rain. Store indoors.

• Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To
unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.

• Do not use with damaged cord, plug or
other parts.

• If the appliance is not working as it
should, has missing parts, has been
dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or
dropped into water, return it to a service
center.

• Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord
as handle, close a door on cord, or pull
cord around sharp edges or corners.

• Do not run over the cord.

• Do not handle plug or the ash vacuum
with wet hands.

• To reduce the risk of health hazards
from vapors or dusts, do not vacuum
toxic materials.

• Do not use or store near hazardous
materials.

• Do not use this vacuum with a torn filter

outlet and remove the filter. Remove the
vacuumed material from the ash filter.

CAUTION: In case of excessive
temperatures, the tubes, the ash filter, or
the vacuum cleaner may be damaged.
Completely empty the vacuum cleaner
and the ash filter in a safe area after the
vacuum cleaning. Let both appliances
(vacuum cleaner and ash filter) cool down
under supervision.

Polarized Plug

To reduce the risk of electrical shock,
this appliance has a polarized plug (one
with one blade wider than the other).
This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only
one way. If the plug does not fit fully in
the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does
not fit, contact a qualified electrician to
install the proper outlet. Do not change
the plug in any way. Double insulation
eliminates the need for the three wire
grounded power cord and grounded
power supply system.

• The use of the vacuum can result in
foreign objects being blown into the
eyes. Always wear safety goggles
complying with ANSI Z87.1 (or in
Canada CSAZ94.3) when operating
vacuum.

• Turn off the ash vacuum before
unplugging.

• Do not put any object into ventilation
openings. Do not vacuum with any
ventilation openings blocked; keep free
of dust, lint, hair or anything that may
reduce air flow.

• Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and
all parts of body away from openings
and moving parts.

• To reduce the risk of electric shock­unplug before cleaning or servicing.

• Do not use without filters in place.

ATTENTION: Vacuuming materials, which
appear to have cooled down, may still
be very hot inside. Hot ash particles
may ignite again with airflow. Wait until
the fire is extinguished and the ashes
have cooled down before you begin with
the cleaning. It is not recommended to
quickly extinguish the fire with water.
Please make sure that ovens are cold
before you vacuum to clean ovens.
Temperature exceeding 100°F (40°C)
may damage the vacuum cleaner and
the components included. Continuously
check tubes, ash filter, and vacuum
cleaner for excessive temperatures
during the vacuum cleaning. If you
notice a temperature rise, switch off the
vacuum cleaner immediately. Disconnect
the vacuum cleaner from the power

Extension Cords

When using an extension cord with your ash vacuum refer to the following table to
determine the required A.W.G. (American Wire Gauge) wire size. Before using the
ash vacuum, make sure it is in good working condition, including power cord.
Also, make sure extension cord is in good working condition prior to use. Make
repairs or replacements before using the ash vacuum. Only use extension cords
that are rated for outdoor use.

• This vacuum is intended for removing loose, cool ash from the ash collection
areas of stoves and fi replaces. Do not vacuum soot. Soot is a combustible
material generally found in deposits along exhaust areas and chimneys.

• Do not vacuum up hot, burning, or red hot objects (e.g. cigarettes, charcoal,
ashes)

• The temperature of the vacuuming material must be below 100°F (40°C).
If it exceeds 100°F (40°C), there is a risk of fi re.

• Never use this product for vacuuming liquids. Only use this unit to vacuum
dry dust material.

1. Remove the ash vacuum from the
package.

2. Unlock the latches and remove the
power head lid. (Fig. 1)

3. Remove the contents from inside
the collection tank (Fig. 2) and make
sure you have all the parts listed on
page 6.

4. Place the pre-fi lter and power head
lid on the collection tank and secure
with the latches. (Fig. 3)

5. Insert the locking end of the hose
onto the vacuum port. (Fig. 4)

6. Insert the aluminum wand into the
other end of the hose. (Fig. 5) Insert
the crevice tool onto the hose for
vacuuming narrow spaces.

7. Connect the power cord to the outlet
(Fig. 6) and turn the vacuum cleaner
power switch on.

8. Run the unit for 30 seconds after you
have fi nished cleaning your stove
or fi replace to ensure all materials
are safely captured in the collection
tank.

CAUTION: Never use ash vacuum
without the aluminum wand, crevice
tool, or mini hose in place.

WARNING: Do not plug in power cord to power outlet, make sure plug is
disconnected before assembling the ash vacuum.

WARNING: Be sure to read, understand and apply all the information in the
Important Safety Instructions section at the beginning of this operator's manual.
Do not vacuum in areas with fl ammable gases, vapors, or explosive dusts in the
air. Flammable gases or vapors include but are not limited to: lighter fl uid,
solvent type cleaners, oil-base paints, gasoline, alcohol, or aerosol sprays.
Explosive dusts include but are not limited to: coal, magnesium, grain, or gun
powder. To reduce the risk of health hazards from vapors or dust, do not
vacuum toxic materials.

1. Verify that the power cord is
disconnected from the outlet. (Fig. 1)

2. Remove lid and power head and
place in upside down position.
(Fig. 2)

3. Unlock and remove the fi lter cage
from the cage lock-clamps by turning
cage counter-clockwise. (Fig. 3 & 4)

4. Carefully remove the cartridge fi lter.
(Fig. 5)

5. Clean the cartridge fi lter by gently
tapping or brushing dirt off. (Fig. 6)

Removing and Cleaning the Filter

6. Carefully remove the pre-fi lter from
the tank and clean the ash or dirt
from the fi lter by gently tapping
or brushing the ash or dirt off.
(Fig. 7 & 8)

IMPORTANT! Cleaning should not
be done indoors in living areas. For
optimal performance a new fi lter is
recommended. To purchase the fi lter,
call 1-888-331-4569 or visit a Sears
store.

Maintenance

WARNING: Always disconnect the plug from the power outlet before removing

the power head from collection tank.

1. Install the cartridge fi lter so that it is
fl ush with the vacuum power head
lid. Make sure that the cartridge fi lter
is pushed in until it stops against the
power head and presses the switch
down. (Fig. 1 & 2) Ensure that the

cartridge fi lter is pressed against the
switch.

2. Place fi lter cage on the top of
cartridge fi lter and lock into place by
turning the cage clockwise. Do not
overtighten. (Fig. 3 & 4)

To keep your ash vacuum looking
its best, clean the outside with a
dampened cloth, then dry with a clean
towel.

To clean the inside of the collection
tank:

1. Empty debris out.

2. Wash collection tank thoroughly with
warm water and mild soap.

3. Wipe out with dry cloth.

Before prolonged storage or as needed
the collection tank should be disinfected.

To disinfect the collection tank:

1. Pour 1 gallon (3.7 L) of water and 1
teaspoon chlorine bleach into the
collection tank.

2. Let solution stand for 20 minutes,
carefully swishing every few minutes,
making sure to wet all inside
surfaces of the collection tank.

3. Empty collection tank after 20
minutes. Rinse with water until
bleach smell is gone. Allow collection
tank to dry completely before placing
the power head back onto the
collection tank.

Cleaning and Disinfecting the
Ash Vacuum

Storage

Before storing your ash vacuum, the
collection tank should be emptied
and cleaned. The hose, cord and
accessories should be stored as
illustrated above so they can be readily
available when needed.
Store vac indoors.

Troubleshooting

WARNING: Servicing of double-insulated vacuum

With a double-insulated vacuum, two systems of insulation are provided
instead of grounding. No grounding means is provided on a double-insulated
vacuum, nor should a means for grounding be added. Servicing a double
insulated vacuum requires extreme care and knowledge of the system, and
should be done only by qualifi ed service personnel. Replacement parts for
a double-insulated vacuum must be identical to the parts they replace. Your
double-insulated vacuum is marked with the words ‘double insulated’ and the
symbol (square within a square) may also be marked on the vacuum.

• No ponga objetos sobre las aberturas

ATENCIÓN: Los materiales aspirados
que parecieran haberse enfriado podrían

Las partículas de cenizas calientes
pueden encenderse nuevamente con
el flujo de aire. Antes de limpiar, espere
hasta que se apague el fuego y que
se hayan enfriado las cenizas. No se
recomienda extinguir apresuradamente
el fuego con agua. Asegúrese de que los
hornos estén fríos antes de aspirarlos.
Una temperatura mayor a los 40 °C (100
°F) puede dañar la aspiradora y sus
componentes. Revise los tubos, filtro
de cenizas y aspiradora continuamente
para verificar que no haya temperaturas
excesivas durante el proceso de
aspirado. Si observa un aumento de
temperatura, apague inmediatamente
la aspiradora. Desconecte la aspiradora
del tomacorriente y saque el filtro. Saque

• No jale o transporte utilizando el cable
como manija, no apriete el cable al
cerrar puertas ni lo jale cerca de bordes

• No utilice el producto sobre el cable.

• No manipule el enchufe o la herramienta
con las manos mojadas.

• No aspire materiales tóxicos, a fin de
reducir el riesgo de peligros provocados
por vapores o polvo.

• No usar o almacenar cerca de
materiales peligrosos.

• No utilice esta aspiradora con un filtro
roto o sin el filtro instalado.

• No permita que se utilice como un
juguete. Se debe prestar estricta
atención cuando el aparato lo usen
niños o cuando se use cerca de ellos.

• Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones
provocadas por un encendido
accidental, desconecte el cable antes
de cambiar o limpiar el filtro.

• No encienda la aspiradora para luego

Enchufe Polarizado

Para reducir el riesgo de descargas
eléctricas, este producto posee un
enchufe polarizado (con un conector más
ancho que el otro). Este enchufe calzará
en el tomacorriente de pared polarizado
solo en una posición. Si el enchufe no
entra completamente en el tomacorriente,
póngalo al revés. Si aún no calza,
contacte a un técnico electricista
calificado que pueda ayudarle a instalar
el tomacorriente indicado. No modifique
el cable de ningún modo. El aislamiento
doble elimina la necesidad del cable
con sistema de conexión a tierra de tres
conectores.

sobrepasa los 40 °C (100 °F), puede producirse un incendio.

• Jamás use este producto para aspirar líquidos. Utilice este aparato solo para
aspirar material en polvo seco.

Cables De Extensión

Al utilizar un cable de extensión con su aspiradora, utilice la siguiente tabla para
determinar el tamaño A.W.G. (American Wire Gauge) necesario. Antes de usar
la aspiradora, asegúrese de que esté en buena condición operativa, incluyendo
al cable de alimentación. Además, asegúrese de que el cable esté en buenas
condiciones antes de usarlo. Realice las reparaciones o cambios de piezas antes de
usar la aspiradora de cenizas. Utilice solo cables de extensión califi cados para uso
en exteriores.

1. Saque la aspiradora de cenizas del
empaque.

2. Abra los cerrojos y saque la tapa del
cabezal de alimentación. (Fig. 1)

3. Saque el contenido del tanque
colector (Fig. 2) y asegúrese de tener
todas las piezas que se indican en la
página 19.

4. Coloque el pre-fi ltro y tapa del
cabezal de alimentación; asegúrelo
con los cerrojos. (Fig. 3)

5. Inserte el extremo de fi jación de la
manguera en el puerto de aspirado.
(Fig. 4)

6. Inserte la vara de aluminio en el otro
extremo de la manguera. (Fig. 5)
Inserte la herramienta para grietas

en la manguera para aspirar en
espacios pequeños.

7. Conecte el cable de alimentación al
tomacorriente (Fig. 6) y encienda la
aspiradora.

8. Mantenga la aspiradora encendida
durante 30 segundos después de
haber terminado de limpiar su estufa
o chimenea para asegurarse de
que todos los materiales se queden
dentro del tanque colector.

PRECAUCIÓN: nunca utiliza la
aspiradora sin la vara de aluminio,
la herramienta para grietas o la mini
manguera.

ADVERTENCIA: No conecte el cable al tomacorriente y asegúrese de que el
cable esté desconectado antes de armar la aspiradora.

ADVERTENCIA: Asegúrese de comprender y aplicar toda la información de la
sección Instrucciones importantes de seguridad al comienzo de este manual
del usuario. No aspire en zonas con gases, vapores o polvos infl amables y
explosivos en el aire. Los gases o vapores infl amables incluyen, pero no se

1. Compruebe que el cable de
alimentación esté desconectado del

alimentación, colocándolos en
posición boca abajo. (Fig. 2)

3. Libere y saque la carcasa del fi ltro
desde las pinzas de fi jación, girando
hacia la izquierda. (Fig. 3 y 4)

5. Limpie el fi ltro de cartucho
sacudiendo o barriendo suavemente

IMPORTANTE La limpieza no debe
realizarse en interiores ni zonas
habitadas. Se recomienda usar un fi ltro
nuevo, a fi n de obtener un rendimiento
óptimo. Para adquirir el fi ltro, llame

1. Instale el fi ltro de cartucho de
manera tal que esté nivelado con la
tapa del cabezal de alimentación.
Asegúrese de que el fi ltro de
cartucho se empuje hacia adentro
hasta que se detenga contra el
cabezal de alimentación y presione

el interruptor. (Fig. 1 & 2) Asegúrese
de que el fi ltro de cartucho esté
presionado contra el interruptor.

2. Coloque la carcasa del fi ltro en la
parte superior del fi ltro de cartucho y
fíjela girándola hacia la derecha. No
apriete más de la cuenta. (Fig. 3 y 4)

Para mantener a su aspiradora
funcionando de la mejor manera
posible, limpie el exterior con un paño
húmedo y luego séquela con una toalla
limpia.

Para limpiar el interior del tanque
colector:

1. Vacíe los sedimentos internos.

2. Lave exhaustivamente el tanque
colector con agua tibia y un jabón
suave.

3. Limpie con un paño seco.

El tanque colector debe desinfectarse
antes de almacenar la aspiradora por
un periodo prolongado, o según sea
necesario.

Para desinfectar el tanque colector:

1. Vierta 3.7 litros (1 galón) de agua y
1 cucharadita de blanqueador con
cloro en el tanque colector.

2. Deje actuar la solución durante
20 minutos, revolviendo de vez en
cuando, asegurándose de mojar
todo el interior del tanque colector.

3. Vacíe el tanque después de 20
minutos. Enjuague con agua hasta
que ya no haya olor a blanqueador.
Deje secar el tanque por completo
antes de volver a colocar el cabezal
de alimentación en el tanque.

Almacenamiento

Antes de almacenar su aspiradora, se
debe vaciar y limpiar el tanque colector.
La manguera, cable y accesorios
deben guardarse según se indica
anteriormente, de manera tal que estén
listos para cuando sean necesarios.
Almacene la aspiradora en interiores.

Ordene siempre utilizando el número de pieza, no el número clave. Al ordenar
piezas, mencione siempre el numero del modelo. El numero del modelo se

ADVERTENCIA: Mantenimiento de aspiradoras con doble aislación

En un aparato con aislación doble, se incluyen dos sistemas de aislación en
vez de una conexión a tierra. No se incluyen conexiones a tierra en un aparto
con aislación doble, por lo que tampoco debiera agregarse una conexión
a tierra a dicho aparato. El mantenimiento de una aspiradora con doble
aislación requiere extremo cuidado y conocimiento del sistema, por lo que
debiera realizarlo personal de servicio califi cado. Las piezas de repuesto
utilizadas en una aspiradora de aislación doble deben ser iguales a las
originales. Su aspiradora con doble aislación está marcada con las palabras
"doble aislación" (double insulated) y el símbolo (cuadrado dentro de un
cuadrado) también podría estar presente en la aspiradora.
