Stones and other debris can be ejected by thetrimmer.

Do not permit anyone else to come close to thetrimmer when it is in use. Children, pets and bystanders should keep adistance of at least 15 metres away from thetrimmer while it is in use.

Only accessories approved for speeds up to 8,500 rpm should be used.

Fire hazard. Never use thegrass trimmer or handle fuel in theproximity of open ﬂames or in areas where sparks may occur. Never smoke while refuelling, mixing fuel or when handling fuel in any other way.

Never expose thetrimmer to moisture or rain.

Move thechoke lever upwards during cold starts. Once theengine is warm, push thechoke lever back downwards.

On/start

Indicates danger, warning or that caution should be exercised. Can be used in conjunction with other symbols or diagrams.

Stones and other debris can be ejected by thetrimmer. Small objects can be ejected at extreme speeds and cause serious personal injury. Keep yourself asafe distance away from therotating trimmer head.

Foot injuries may result by coming too close to therotating trimmer head.

The operational noise level complies with EC Directive 97/98EC and 2004/26EC, Annex IV.

Before start, press theprimer 6 times until fuel begins ﬂowing through thereturn hose situated between thecarburettor and fuel tank.

Only use trimmer heads recommended by themanufacturer or retailer. Only use trimmer line which has adiameter of 2 mm (0.0079″) Never use abrush cutter blade on this model. The trimmer head will continue to rotate even after theengine has been turned off.

Emergency stop.

Warning: Hot surface. Do not touch.

General safety instructions

Note: Switch off theengine before all servicing, adjusting and cleaning thegrass trimmer.

1. Wear protective footwear, tight-ﬁtting clothes and safety glasses/visor, ear defenders and ahelmet.

2. Never use thegrass trimmer if you are tired, sick, upset or under theinﬂuence of alcohol or medication which may cause drowsiness.

3. Always be careful when handling fuel. Open thefuel tank carefully and release any pressure which might have built up in thetank. Wipe off any spilt fuel and move thegrass trimmer to asafe location, at least 3 metres away from therefuelling location, before starting.

4. Remove any sources of ignition, sparks, open ﬂames, lit cigarettes, etc. from thearea where thefuel is mixed, used or stored.

Keep children, pets and bystanders at asafe distance of at least 15 m from thearea where thegrass trimmer is intended to be used. Switch thegrass trimmer off immediately if anyone comes within the15 m safety zone.

A noise level of 108 dB is reached during use.

5. Do not smoke while refuelling or using thegrass trimmer.

6. Follow all ﬁre safety regulations. It is theuser’s responsibility to inform themselves of all local and national ﬁre safety regulations.

7. Always hold thegrass trimmer’s handles with aﬁrm grip once started, with your ﬁngers

gripping one side and your thumbs gripping theopposing side of thehandles.

8. Do not touch thetrimmer line whilst it is rotating.

9. Keep all body parts and clothing away from thetrimmer line when theengine is running. Make sure that thetrimmer line is not in contact with any object before starting.

10. Only transport thetrimmer with theengine switched off.

11. Always inspect thegrass trimmer before starting, do not start it if there are worn, damaged or missing parts. Never use thebrush cutter/grass trimmer if it is damaged, incorrectly adjusted or incorrectly assembled.

12. All service other than that mentioned in this instruction manual should be carried out by qualiﬁed personnel.

13. Always turn off thegrass trimmer whenever setting it onto theground or during transport.

14. Be extra vigilant when cutting small bushes or thick grass, as these can get stuck in thetrimmer head.

15. Keep thehandles clean, dry and free from oil and fuel.

16. Only use thetrimmer outdoors or in well ventilated areas. Never start thetrimmer in closed rooms or buildings. Exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide and are dangerous to inhale.

17. Avoid moving thetrimmer head close to small objects which can be violently propelled outwards. Check that there are no small stones, glass shards, etc. in thetrim area before starting work.

18. Always stand below thelevel of thetrimmer if you are using it on aslope. NEVER use thetrimmer on aslope if there is theslightest risk of you losing your footing, falling or sliding. Always keep hold of both handles.

19. Keep thegrass trimmer free from grass cuttings and other deposits, particularly theguard, trimmer head and engine.

20. Only use two-stroke engine fuel with amixture of 3% good quality two-stroke oil (32:1) intended for air-cooled two-stroke engines. Using petrol without oil mixed in will cause engine damage that is not covered by theguarantee.

21. Do not use thegrass trimmer without thesilencer and silencer cover.

22. Hold both handles of thegrass trimmer ﬁrmly, with your ﬁngers on one side of each handle and thumb on theother.

23. The silencer can become very hot, do not touch it with your hands or other parts of your body.

24. The trimmer head must not be raised during use as it can injure theoperator. Work as close to theground as possible.

25. The grass trimmer must not be used for any other purpose than for clearing undergrowth, trimming lawns and garden work.

26. The grass trimmer may only be used when it is completely assembled and with all its parts properly and securely attached.

27. The product must not be disassembled or used in any other manner than as described in this instruction manual.

28. Do not use thegrass trimmer close to ﬂammable gases and liquids, since this could lead to ﬁres or explosions.

29. The trimmer should only be repaired by qualiﬁed service technicians using authorised parts.

30. Ensure that thecable insulation on thespark plug cable is undamaged before use.

31. Touching any uninsulated part of thespark plug cable while theengine is running will expose you to ahigh risk for electrical shock.

The grass trimmer can unexpectedly jerk backwards or to thesides when making contact with objects that are too large for it to cut.

Note:

1. Never use any other type of fuel than that described in this instruction manual. Always follow theinstructions in this instruction manual in regards to fuelling and lubrication procedures. Only use afuel mixture consisting of pure petrol and 3 % two-stroke (cycle) engine oil. The engine could be damaged if these instructions are not followed.

2. Never smoke while refuelling or when in thevicinity of thegrass trimmer when it is not in use.

3. Never use thegrass trimmer without thesilencer and its protective cover correctly mounted.

4. Do not touch thesilencer. Hold both handles of thegrass trimmer ﬁrmly, with your ﬁngers on one side of each handle and thumbs on theother.

5. Always stand in awell-balanced stable stance. Never over-reach or work using only one hand.

6. Never lift thetrimmer head from theground once thetrimmer has started.

7. Never use thegrass trimmer in any other manner than that described in this instruction manual.

8. Do not overwork yourself. Take regularly timed breaks.

9. Never use thegrass trimmer without thetrimmer head guard attached.

10. Never remove, add or modify any of thegrass trimmer’s parts. Doing so could result in considerable danger to theuser or damage to themachine.

11. Never use thetrimmer in locations where ﬂammable liquids or gases are present. High risk for ﬁre and explosion.

High risk for ﬁre and explosion

1. Always be careful when handling petrol as it is extremely ﬂammable.

2. Never attempt to refuel if any part of thefuel system is damaged in any way.

3. Never ﬁll thefuel tank when theengine is warm. Let it cool down properly before refuelling.

4. Never smoke or ignite ﬂames in thevicinity of thegrass trimmer or in areas where fuel is stored.

5. Only transport and store fuel in approved containers designed for that purpose.

6. Never place ﬂammable materials close to thegrass trimmer’s silencer.

7. Never use thetrimmer if thesilencer has been damaged in any way.

8. Never use fuel blended with ethanol or methanol. These fuel blends can cause damage to theengine and fuel system.

9. When mixing fuel yourself, only mix theamount you need for themoment. Never store fuel for any extended period of time. Using old fuel can lead to starting problems.

Operational precautions

1. Always work alone. Ensure that no bystanders are in thenear vicinity. Keep children, pets and bystanders at adistance of at least 15 m from thearea where thegrass trimmer is intended to be used.

2. If several grass trimmers are used, keep asafe 15 m distance between users.

3. Try to avoid hitting foreign objects with trimmer line. In theevent that this should occur, shut off thegrass trimmer and check thetrimmer line.

4. Always make sure you have good footing. Never work in therain or on wet grass.

5. Ensure that thetrimmer head is correctly mounted and it is in thecorrect operational position while in use.

6. Do not trim too close to fences, stones or any other hard objects. Doing so may damage thetrimmer line or cause it to ﬂy off.

7. Turn off thegrass trimmer and set it on theground before cleaning thetrimmer head. Never attempt to clean thetrimmer head with theengine running. Even when thegrass trimmer is in idle, there is still apotential that thetrimmer head can inadvertently be engaged and cause bodily injury.

Assembly

Assembling the trimmer guard

Warning! The trimmer guard must be mounted correctly in order to protect theuser and

so that thetrimmer line will be thecorrect length. The guard contains ablade which automatically cuts off theline to anappropriate length when thetrimmer head begins rotating.

1. The trimmer head must be taken off before thetrimmer guard is mounted.

2. Hold thetrimmer head and use your hand or theenclosed spanner to undo thetrimmer head nut. Remove thetrimmer head from thespindle.

4. Push in thebolt through thetrimmer guard from theside with thehexagonal countersink. Tighten thebolt using the washer and nut.

3. Slide thetrimmer guard over theshaft and align theholes in theguard with holes in thebracket.

5. Reassemble thetrimmer head onto thespindle.

Mounting the lower shaft

Insert thelower shaft into theupper shaft and ensure that theball lock slots securely into its hole. Fasten theshaft securely by tightening its retaining screw.

Mounting the D-handle to the upper shaft

Fuel and Lubrication

Caution! Petrol is highly ﬂammable. Avoid smoking near any area where fuel will be handled. Do not introduce open ﬁres, embers or sparks into thearea.

Switch off thegrass trimmer and let it cool before refuelling it. Refuel outdoors and always move at least 3 metres away from therefuelling site before starting thetrimmer.

Mix petrol (unleaded 95 octane without added ethanol) with agood quality 2-stroke oil intended for air-cooled 2-stroke engines.

Recommended mixture: Petrol/oil 32:1 (3 %).

• The engine is designed to be used with unleaded fuel.

• Use at least an87 octane rated fuel.

• Use unleaded fuel to protect theenvironment and your health.

• Bad quality fuel or oil can damage seals, fuel pipes or thefuel tank.

Mixing the fuel

Note: Be precise with themixture.

1. Measure out thepetrol and oil precisely before mixing.

2. Pour asmall amount of thepetrol into aclean approved fuel container.

3. Pour in all of theoil and agitate thefuel can.

4. Pour in therest of thepetrol and agitate thefuel can for at least aminute. Some oils are difﬁcult to mix. It is therefore important to agitate thecontainer in order for theoil and petrol to mix thoroughly. The engine will last longer if thefuel is well mixed, if thefuel is not mixed properly themixture will be too lean and theengine may be damaged.

5. Label thefuel can clearly to avoid therisk of misidentiﬁcation. Fuel containing oil is only intended for 2-stroke engines. Pure petrol is for 4-stroke engines. It is therefore very important to label fuel containers clearly.

Note: Do not mix too much fuel; it should be used within 90 days. Caution! Only use fuel containing oil for 2-stroke engines, using pure petrol without the

addition of oil will inevitably cause engine damage which is not covered by theguarantee.

Fueling the trimmer

1. Let thetrimmer cool before refuelling it.

2. Unscrew and remove thefuel cap.

3. Fill with fuel until thetank is roughly 80% full.

4. Replace and tighten thefuel cap and wipe up any spilt fuel on or around the grass trimmer.

Starting the Engine

Note: Pull thestarter handle straight out. If you pull at anangle thestarter cord will rub on thesleeve and wear out prematurely. Keep hold of thestarting handle after pulling it and allow it to return slowly. Never release thestarter handle completely at full length since it can become entangled and thebacklash can break something on thetrimmer.

Note: See theTroubleshooting section if thetrimmer doesn’t start after several attempts.

Starting a cold engine

Cut thetrimmer line to alength of 13 cm before starting to reduce theload while thetrimmer warms up.

1. Place thegrass trimmer on alevel surface.

2. Set theon/off switch to position 1.

3. Set thechoke lever (14) to cold start mode (upwards).

4. Press theprimer pump (16) 6 times.

5. Hold theupper handle ﬁrmly.

6. Pull thestarter handle until you feel some resistance (approx. 100 mm). Pull thestarter handle quickly and smoothly until theengine starts or up to 4 times.

7. Set thechoke lever to theopen position (downwards) as soon as theengine starts.

Starting a warm engine

1. Place thegrass trimmer on alevel surface.

2. Set theon/off switch to position 1.

3. Hold theupper handle ﬁrmly.

4. Pull thestarter handle until you feel some resistance (approx. 100 mm). Pull thestarter handle quickly and smoothly until theengine starts or up to 4 times.

5. If theengine doesn’t start repeat all steps in theStarting acold engine section.

Shutting off the engine

Release thethrottle and let theengine idle. Set theon/off switch to the0 position.

Operation

Helpful Suggestions

• Caution! Remove all objects like cans, bottles, stones, etc. from theground before using thetrimmer. They can be thrown about by thetrimmer and cause injury or damage thetrimmer.

• Caution! Never raise thetrimmer head above knee-height while it is spinning.

• Caution! Never use metal or plastic coated metal trimmer line, this could cause serious accidents.

• Switch off thegrass trimmer at once and check it for damage if you notice that something is ejected or if thegrass trimmer starts vibrating. Inspect thetrimmer for any damage. Do not use thegrass trimmer if it has been damaged.

• Allow theengine to come up to full speed before starting to cut thegrass. Never attempt to trim grass at low speed.

• Hold thegrass trimmer with both hands.

• Hold thetrimmer head parallel to theground and sweep

thegrass trimmer from side to side whilst slowly walking forwards. Reduce your forward movement if thegoing gets heavy.

• Do not move thetrimmer head towards you, always work away from yourself.

Trimming round trees and bushes

• Lean thetrimmer head forward slightly and start trimming from left to right whilst slowly walking around thetree.

• Be careful, so thetrimmer line doesn’t cut thebark of thetree or theplants that you want to keep!

• If you trim grass close to fences, foundations, rocks, etc; thetrimmer line will soon wear out.

Preparing the ground (removing all vegetation)

• Angle thetrimmer head approx. 30 degrees to theleft (it is easier if you loosen theloop handle and adjust it) See ﬁgure.

• Do not do this if there is theslightest risk of something being ﬂung up and injuring people or animals standing within a30-metre radius.

Feeding out the line

Feed out thetrimmer line like this:

1. Let theengine come up to top speed. Tap thetrimmer

head on theground and lift it up again. The line will feed automatically.

2. The line will be cut to thecorrect length by thecutter blade under thetrimmer guard.

3. Turn off theengine and use e.g. ascrewdriver to remove any grass or other deposits that may have built up between theguard and trimmer head. Debris caught between theguard and trimmer head can reduce theability of thedriveshaft to cool properly.

Care and Maintenance

Warning! Disconnect thesparkplug lead before carrying out any maintenance.

Changing the line

1. Turn thelocking cap (A) anti-clockwise and remove it either by hand or using thesupplied spanner.

2. Remove thespool (B) and thespring (C) from thespindle (D).

3. Remove theexisting trimmer line (H).

4. First measure then cut an8.6-metre length of trimmer line (Ø 2 mm). Fold it in themiddle so that you have two ends measuring 4.3 metres; place themiddle of thefold in one of theslots in thedisc dividing thespool.

5. Wind both ends of theline around thespool clockwise. Hold theline with your ﬁngers while winding, keeping theline taut. Stop when about 15 cm of theline remains.

6. Press theends of theline into theslots (F) on opposite sides of thespool.

7. Push in thespring (C) on thebottom of thespool (if not already secure), pull theends of theline through theholes (G) in theside of thehousing (E).

8. Push thespool (B) into thehousing whilst feeding theends of theline through theholes (G).

9. Press thespool (B) inwards so that thespring becomes compressed. Tug theline, freeing them from theline slots (F) in thespool.

10. Push theassembled trimmer head securely onto thespindle and hold it in position. Tighten thelocking cap (A) clockwise (only ﬁnger-tight).

11. Cut theends of theline so they are no longer than 13 cm.

Air ﬁlter, inspection/cleaning

Never use thegrass trimmer without anair ﬁlter. Clean or replace theﬁlter if it is damaged or dirty.

Cleaning theair ﬁlter:

1. Remove theair ﬁlter cover by pressing thesnap locks on thesides to remove.

2. Remove thefoam ﬁlter from thecover.

3. Wash theﬁlter with soap and water. Do not use petrol!

4. Squeeze theﬁlter and let it dry naturally.

5. Reﬁt theﬁlter, mount thecover and ensure that thesnap locks are attached securely.

Carburettor settings

The carburettor has been factory adjusted for optimum power.

Spark plug

Spark plug: TORCH L8RTC, Champion CJ7Y, NGK BPMR7A. Recommended spark plug gap: 0.635 mm. Tightening torque: 12–15 Nm.

Sharpening the cutter blade (on the guard)

1. Remove thecutter (E) from thetrimmer guard (F).

2. Hold thecutter in avice. Sharpen theblade using aﬂat ﬁle, sharpening in one direction only and making sure to maintain theoriginal grinding angle.

Storage

1. Clean theexterior of thegrass trimmer.

2. Transfer any fuel remaining in thefuel tank to apetrol container.

3. Start theengine when thefuel tank has been emptied.

4. Allow theengine to idle until it cuts out to empty thecarburettor of fuel.

5. Allow theengine to cool for 5 minutes.

6. Use aspark plug socket to remove thespark plug.

7. Pour one teaspoon of pure 2-stroke oil into thecylinder via thespark plug hole, pull thestarter handle slowly afew times to distribute theoil evenly over theinside of theengine. Replace thespark plug.

8. Store thegrass trimmer in adry and well ventilated place.

Using the trimmer after storage

1. Use aspark plug socket to remove thespark plug.

2. Pull thestarter handle quickly and smoothly afew times to remove thesurplus oil from thecylinder.

3. Clean thespark plug electrodes or replace thespark plug with one having thecorrect plug gap.

4. Tighten thespark plug using aspark plug socket.

5. Fill thefuel tank.

6. Follow theinstructions in theStarting acold engine section.

Tillåt ingen annan än användaren att vara nära grästrimmern när den används. Barn, husdjur och åskådare ska beﬁnna sig på ett avstånd av minst 15 m från grästrimmern när den används.

Generella säkerhetsföreskrifter

Obs! Stäng av motorn före all service, justering och rengöring av grästrimmern.

1. Använd skyddsskor, åtsittande kläder och skyddsglasögon/visir, hörselskydd och hjälm.

2. Använd aldrig grästrimmern om du är trött, sjuk, upprörd eller under påverkan av alkohol, droger eller mediciner som gör dig trött.

3. Var alltid aktsam vid hantering av bränsle. Öppna tanklocket försiktigt och släpp ut trycket som kan ha uppkommit i tanken. Torka upp allt spill och ﬂytta sedan grästrimmern till en säker plats minst 3 m från tankningsplatsen innan den startas.

4. Avlägsna alla antändningskällor, gnistor, öppna lågor, cigarretter etc. från platser där bränsle blandas, hanteras eller förvaras.

Håll barn, husdjur och åskådare på ett avstånd av minst 15 m från den plats där grästrimmern används. Stäng omedelbart av grästrimmern om någon kommer närmare än 15 m.

En ljudnivå på 108 dB uppstår när grästrimmern används.

5. Rök inte under tankning eller under arbete med grästrimmern.

6. Följ alla regler för brandskydd. Det är användarens ansvar att informera sig om lokala och nationella regler för brandskydd.

7. Håll alltid grästrimmern stadigt i båda handtagen med ﬁngrarna på en sida av handtaget och tummen på andra sidan när motorn är startad.

8. Vidrör inte roterande trimmerlina.

9. Håll undan alla kroppsdelar och kläder från trimmerlinan när motorn startas. Kontrollera före start att trimmerlinan inte har kontakt med något föremål.

10. Transportera endast grästrimmern med motorn avstängd.

11. Inspektera alltid grästrimmern före start, starta den inte om det ﬁnns utslitna, saknade eller skadade delar. Använd aldrig en trimmer som är skadad, feljusterad eller som inte är monterad på rätt sätt.

12. All annan service på grästrimmern än den som nämns i bruksanvisningen ska utföras av kvaliﬁcerad personal.

13. Stäng alltid av grästrimmern innan den ställs ner på marken och när den transporteras.

14. Var extra uppmärksam när du kapar små buskar eller när tjockt gräs kan fastna i trimmerhuvudet.

15. Håll handtagen rena, torra och fria från olja och bränsle.

16. Använd grästrimmern endast utomhus eller i väl ventilerade lokaler. Starta den aldrig i stängda rum eller byggnader. Avgaserna är farliga att andas in, de innehåller koloxid.

19. Håll grästrimmern ren från gräsrester och andra beläggningar, speciellt skyddet, trimmerhuvudet och motorn.

20. Använd endast 2-taktsbränsle med inblandning av 3% 2-taktsolja (32:1) avsedd för luftkylda 2-taktsmotorer av god kvalitet, användning av bensin utan oljeinblandning leder snabbt till motorskador som inte omfattas av garantin.

21. Använd inte grästrimmern utan ljuddämpare och ljuddämparkåpa.

22. Håll i grästrimmerns båda handtag på ett säkert sätt med ﬁngrarna på en sida av handtaget och tummen på andra sidan.

23. Ljuddämparen blir mycket het, håll undan händer och andra kroppsdelar.

24. Trimmerhuvudet får inte lyftas upp under arbetet, trimmerlinan kan skada användaren, arbeta så nära marken som möjligt.

25. Grästrimmern får inte användas till något annat ändamål än röjning av sly, trimning av gräsmattor och trädgårdar.

1. Använd aldrig annat bränsle än det som rekommenderas i den här bruksanvisningen. Följ alltid alla instruktioner gällande bränsle och smörjning som ﬁnns i den här bruksanvisningen. Använd endast bensin som blandats med 3 % 2-taktsolja. Bestående motorskador uppstår om inte dessa instruktioner följs.

Risk för brand och brännskador

1. Var alltid mycket försiktig när du hanterar bensin, den är extremt lättantändlig.

2. Försök aldrig fylla på bensin om bränslesystemets delar på något sätt är skadade.

3. Fyll aldrig på bensin när motorn är varm, låt den svalna innan du tankar.

4. Rök aldrig och tänd inga lågor i närheten av grästrimmern eller på platser där bränsle förvaras.

5. Transportera och förvara endast bensin i godkända dunkar avsedda för ändamålet.

6. Placera aldrig brännbart material nära grästrimmerns ljuddämpare.

7. Använd inte grästrimmern om ljuddämparen på något sätt är skadad.

8. Använd aldrig bränsle som blandats med etanol eller metanol, det kan allvarligt skada bränslesystemet och motorn.

9. Om du blandar bränsle själv, blanda aldrig mer än du behöver för stunden. Bränslet bör inte lagras under en längre period, det kan leda till startsvårigheter om gammalt bränsle används.

Tänk på detta när du arbetar

6. Trimma inte helt nära staket, stenar eller andra hårda objekt. Trimmerlinan kan skadas eller gå av.

7. Stäng av grästrimmen och ställ ner den på marken innan du vid behov rengör området kring trimmerhuvudet. Försök aldrig rengöra området när motorn går. Även om trimmerhuvudet står stilla när motorn går kan du av misstag starta trimmerhuvudet vilket kan leda till kroppsskada.

Montering

Montera trimmerskyddet

Varning! Trimmerskyddet måste monteras korrekt för att skydda användaren och för att trimmerlinan ska få rätt längd. Det sitter en kniv i skyddet som automatiskt skär av linan till lämplig längd när trimmerhuvudet börjar rotera.

1. Trimmerhuvudet måste demonteras innan trimmerskyddet monteras.

2. Håll fast trimmerhuvudet och använd handen eller den medföljande nyckeln för att lossa på muttern/låsratten för trimmerhuvudet. Ta bort hela trimmerhuvudet från spindeln.

4. Skjut i bulten i trimmerskyddet från den sida som har en sexkantig fördjupning. Montera brickan och muttern.

3. Skjut på trimmerskyddet på riggröret och passa in hålen i trimmerskyddet med hålen i fästet.

5. Montera trimmerhuvudet på spindeln igen.
