The U-Box is a portable, sturdy enclosure for Clear-Com’s KB Speaker Stations. It can be used equally to support portable
deployment or various surface mounting requirements of KB Speaker Stations. A Mounting Bracket is provided for optional angles in
desktop and wall mounting while supporting attachment to third party VESA 75 mounts. The U-Box Enclosure is available in three
versions to accommodate different wiring requirements:
• U-Box-X3 – Includes a pass-through male and female 3-pin XLR for single channel intercom use.
• U-Box-X6 – Includes a pass-through male and female 6-pin XLR for dual channel intercom use.
• U-Box-RJ45 – Includes an etherCON RJ45 and a bayonet DC power connector to accommodate the optional EB7-4W
four-wire adaptor daughterboard.
Installing the KB Speaker Station in the U-Box Enclosure
Use the Speaker Station mounting screws to install the Speaker Station to the U-Box.
Wiring
The U-Box Enclosure comes pre-wired ready to connect to the KB Speaker Station or optional EB daughterboard depending on
which U-Box variant has been ordered.
U-Box-X3 – Single Channel
The 3-pin male and female XLR connectors on the side of the U-Box are wired in parallel, which means the station can be seriesconnected in a cable run with other Clear-Com stations. Typically, the female connector connects to the cable running from a main
station or power supply and the male connector connects to other stations.
Note: The U-Box-X3 connector harness wires Dual channel KB to Channel B of the intercom line for single channel KB
compatibility. Moving the pin 3 wire to pin 2 of the terminal block connector wires the intercom line to Channel A on dual
channel KB.
U-Box-X6 – Dual Channel
The 6-pin male and female Switchcraft -style XLR connectors on the side of the U-Box are wired in parallel, which means the station
can be series-connected in a cable run with other dual channel Clear-Com stations equipped with 6-pin connectors. Compatible
devices and accessories include the RS-702 beltpack, IC-25-2P, IC-50-2P and IC-100-2P dual pair cables as well as the YC-36
adaptor which splits the 6-pin connector into a 3-pin XLR female connector for each channel.
U-Box-RJ45 – Four Wire for use with EB7-4W
The etherCON RJ45 connector on the side of the U-Box is wired to connect to the internal EB7-4W option module and a generic
external 4-wire device. A Power connector and wiring are provided for use with the external power supply
(Part Number: PSU-EXT-003) which must be ordered separately.
To connect the station, plug the terminal block onto the pins on the station / daughterboard circuit board. All internal levels, jumpers
or dip switches must be set according to the relevant User Guide before securing it in the U-Box Enclosure.
Installing the Optional Mounting Bracket
To use the U-Box at an angle, place the U-Box onto the Mounting Bracket and fix using the two mounting bracket screws.

U-Box on Horizontal Surfaces
For angled desktop use, the Speaker Station is installed in U-Box, and placed in the angled mounting bracket (Figure 1). For nonangled use, the Speaker Station is simply installed in the U-Box and positioned on a horizontal surface (Figure 4).
U-Box on Vertical Surfaces
The Speaker Station is installed in the U-Box, and the box is mounted to the wall using the keyhole slots on the rear of the enclosure
(Figure 5) or on the rear of the mounting bracket. When installed in the mounting bracket, the U-Box can be angled for mounting at
different wall heights. (Figure 2 and Figure 3).
Note: When installing on a wall, ensure that the screws are secured to support the weight. If required, use screw anchors.
Third Party VESA Adapters
The U-Box includes mounting features for commonly available third party VESA 75 mounts with two mounting points for M4x10mm
screws (Figure 6).

Note: For use with GN Series gooseneck microphones:
● U-Box on the Mounting Bracket with the GN-9 microphone is fully supported.
● U-Box without the Mounting Bracket with the GN-9 microphone can be unstable.
● U-Box cannot support the weight of the GN-18 microphone without additional balance weight or fasteners.
