• Measurement and display of temperature from 32.0 ºC to 42.9 ºC (89.6 ºF to 109.3 ºF).
• If a body temperature exceeds 37.6 ºC (99.6 ºF), the red fever light [=] (3) comes on.
6
• Memory for up to 30 readings. Temperature, date and method of measurement (ear or forehead) is saved.
• Measures and displays the room temperature 5.0 ºC to 59.9 ºC (41.0 ºF to 139.8 ºF).
• Spoken readings, room temperature and time. Press and hold in [TALK] (4) for two seconds to alternate between activation and deactivation of the voice function (the loudspeaker symbol is not displayed).
• Readings are displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit. Press [TALK] (4) and [=] (3) simultaneously to change the temperature units.
5.3 Useful tips
1. The temperature in the left ear might differ from that in the right ear, so always take the temperature reading from the same ear.
2. The ear should be clean; earwax in the auditory canal can cause inaccurate readings.
3. A number of factors can affect temperature readings in the ear, such as:
• If you have slept or lain down with that ear on the pillow.
• If you have had a hat pulled down over that ear just before taking
a temperature.
• If you have been exposed to an extremely high or low temperature.
• If you have just bathed or showered.
4. If you suspect that one of the above factors might lead to a false reading, it is better to wait 20 minutes before taking a temperature.
5.4 Before use
1. If the battery symbol is lit, change the battery. Remove the battery cover and insert 2 x AAA/LR03 batteries according to the polarity markings in the battery compartment.
English
2. Bring the thermometer into the room roughly 30 minutes before taking a temperature so that the thermometer can acclimatise to any difference in temperature between the room and the place where the thermometer is stored.
3. Make sure that the ambient temperature is constant.
4. Make sure that the ear is clean.
5. Temperature should be taken during a period of inactivity as physical activity raises the body temperature.
