Safety

• Thetoaster may be used by children of 8 years and above and
by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capability
or lack of experience and knowledge provided they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use of theappliance
in asafe way and understand thehazards involved.

• Never let children play with thetoaster.

• Cleaning and maintenance may be carried out by children but
only under adult supervision.

• Place thetoaster on aflat, non-flammable surface and out
of children’s reach. Make sure that there is adequate space
above and on all sides for air circulation.

• Do not touch any other parts of thetoaster than its controls
as it becomes hot during use.

• Always unplug thelead from thepower point and let
thetoaster cool down before handling it.

• Never place thetoaster close to or under flammable material
such as curtains.

• Do not place thetoaster where there is arisk of it falling into
water or other types of liquid.

• Thetoaster should only be connected to anearthed
230 V electrical socket, refer to therating plate.

• Thetoaster should only be used as described in
theinstruction manual.

• Never leave thetoaster unattended whilst it is in use.

• Make sure that themains lead does not drape over theedge
of thetable or worktop. Make sure that thelead does not
come into contact with hot surfaces such as cooker hobs.

• Always unplug thetoaster from thepower point before
cleaning it or when it is not to be used for along time.

• Never immerse thetoaster in water.

• If aslice of bread gets stuck in thetoaster, unplug thetoaster
and let it cool before trying to remove thebread. Dislodge
thebread using awooden or plastic utensil to avoid damaging
theheating element.

• Never subject thetoaster to rough treatment, such as knocks
and blows.

• Do not pull or carry thetoaster by thelead.

• Thetoaster should only be used and stored indoors.

• Do not use thetoaster if its mains lead or plug is damaged.

• Do not use thetoaster if it is in any way damaged, has parts
missing or does not seem to work properly.

• Do not open thecasing. Dangerous voltages are present
on certain unshielded components. Contact with these
components could result in electric shock.

• Never place anything on top of thetoaster.

• Thetoaster should only be repaired by qualified service
technicians using original spare parts.

• Thetoaster should not be disassembled or modified.

• Toast can start to burn, so theproduct should not be placed
close to or beneath flammable materials such as curtains.

• Never use theproduct together with atimer switch, multi-socket
extension lead or similar device.

• Before cleaning theproduct, make sure that it has cooled and
is unplugged. Empty and clean thecrumb tray regularly. Use
asoft, damp cloth to clean thehousing. Never use solvents or
abrasive cleaning agents.

• If themains lead is damaged in any way it must be replaced

by aqualified electrician.

Operating instructions

Note:

• Only use appropriately sized bread slices. Never attempt to toast bread with any
kind of filling, bread which crumbles when handled or any other kind of bread
which is likely to get stuck inside thetoaster.

• Thefirst time you use thetoaster you might detect asmell emitted by theheating
element. This odour is normal and will soon disappear. You can try operating
thetoaster acouple of times without any bread in it.

Toasting

1. Plug themains lead into anearthed wall socket.

2. Insert theslices of bread into thetoasting slots.

3. Set thebrowning control to level 3 or 4.

4. Lower thetoasting lever. Thebread will automatically be centred in theslots.
Note: Thetoasting lever will not lock into place unless thetoaster is plugged into
apower point.

5. When thebread has been toasted, it will pop up automatically and thetoasting
lever will return to thestarting position.
Note: Thetop of thetoaster can become very hot.

6. Thebrowning control can be adjusted as desired. Do not adjust thebrowning
control whilst toasting is in progress. Press [ STOP ] and then turn thebrowning
control knob. Then resume toasting with thenew setting.

Toasting/warming rolls

1. Press thebutton (8) to raise thewarming rack.

2. Follow theinstructions for toasting in theslots but lay thebread or rolls on
therack instead.

Reheating previously toasted bread

1. Plug themains lead into anearthed wall socket.

2. Insert theslices of bread into thetoasting slots.

3. Lower thetoasting lever.

4. Press [ ].

5. Thetoast will be warmed up for ashort while. Keep aneye on thetoast to make
sure that it does not burn. Cancel thereheating by pressing [ STOP ] or wait until
thetoasting lever returns to thestarting position.

Defrosting frozen bread slices

1. Plug themains lead into anearthed wall socket.

2. Insert thefrozen slices of bread into thetoasting slots.

3. Lower thetoasting lever.

4. Press [

5. When thebread has defrosted, it will pop up automatically and thetoasting lever
will return to thestarting position.

Care and maintenance

• Clean thetoaster using alightly moistened cloth. Use only mild cleaning agents,
never solvents or corrosive chemicals.

• Empty and clean thecrumb tray regularly.

• Always unplug thetoaster from thepower point when it is not in use.

This product should be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
If you are unsure how to proceed, contact your local council.
