7. WATER AND MOISTURE

Do not use this unit near water. For example, near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool.

Do not place this unit on an unstable cart, stand,

tripod, bracket, or table. The unit may fall, causing serious injury, and serious damage to the unit.

9. VENTILATION

Slots and openings in the cabinet back or bottom are provided for ventilation, and to ensure reliable operation of the unit, and to protect it from overheating. These openings must not be blocked or covered. The openings should never be blocked by placing the unit on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface. This unit should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat source. This unit should not be placed in a builtin installation such as a bookcase or rack unless proper ventilation is provided or the manufacturer’s instructions have been adhered to.

10. POWER SOURCES

This unit should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the rating plate. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your appliance dealer or local power company. For units intended to operate from battery power, or other sources, refer to the operating instructions.

11. GROUNDING OR POLARIZATION

This unit is equipped with a polarized alternatingcurrent line plug (a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. This is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug fully into the outlet, try reversing the plug. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug, if your unit is equipped with a 3-wire grounding-type plug, a plug having a third (grounding) pin. This plug will only fit into a grounding-type power outlet. This too, is a safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug into the outlet, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the groundingtype plug.

12. POWER-CORD PROTECTION

Power-supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the appliance.

13. LIGHTNING

To protect your unit from a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the unit due to lightning and power line surges.

14. POWER LINES

An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits, as contact with them might be fatal.

15. OVERLOADING

Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords, as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.

16. OBJECT AND LIQUID ENTRY

Do not push objects through any openings in this unit, as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in fire or electric shock. Never spill or spray any type of liquid into the unit.

17. OUTDOOR ANTENNA GROUNDING

If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the unit, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges, Section 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with respect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the leadin wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode.

18. SERVICING

Do not attempt to service this unit yourself as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

19. DAMAGE REQUIRING SERVICE

Unplug this unit from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions:

a. When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged. b. If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen

into the unit. c. If the unit has been exposed to rain or water. d. If the unit does not operate normally by

following the operating instructions. Adjust only

those controls that are covered by the operat-

other controls may result in damage and will

often require extensive work by a qualified

technician to restore the unit to its normal

operation. e. If the unit has been dropped or the cabinet has

been damaged. f

. When the unit exhibits a distinct change in

performance, this indicates a need for service.

20. REPLACEMENT PARTS

When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician uses replacement parts specified by the manufacturer or those that have the same characteristics as the original part. Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock or other hazards.

21. SAFETY CHECK

Upon completion of any service or repairs to this unit, ask the service technician to perform safety checks to determine that the unit is in proper operating condition.

22. HEAT

The product should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other products (including amplifiers) that produce heat.

23. NOTE TO CATV SYSTEM INSTALLER

This reminder is provided to call the CATV system installer’s attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC that provides guidelines for proper grounding and, in particular, specifies that the cable ground shall be connected to the grounding system of the building, as close to the point of cable entry as practical.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

MOISTURE CONDENSATION

DO NOT OPERATE ANY FUNCTIONS ON THIS UNIT FOR AT LEAST TWO OR THREE HOURS WHEN MOISTURE IN THE AIR CONDENSES ON IT. LET THE UNIT STAND WITH POWER ON (SEE BELOW).

WHAT IS MOISTURE CONDENSATION?

When a cold liquid is poured into a glass, for example, water vapor in the air will condense on the surface of the glass. This is called moisture conden sation.

MOISTURE WILL CONDENSE ON THE UNIT IN THE FOLLOWING CASES;

• When you move the unit from a cold to a warm place.

• After heating a cold room or under extremely humid conditions.

WHEN YOU EXPERIENCE THE ABOVE CONDI TIONS,

"DEW" appears on the screen and all the function buttons except the EJECT button (or the STOP/ EJECT button on the unit) are made non-operational to protect the video heads. In this case, eject the video cassette, leave the unit turned on and let it remain at room temperature until moisture condensa tion disappears. Depending on the surrounding conditions, this may take two or three hours.

LOCATION AND HANDLE

• If you cause a static discharge when touching the unit, and the unit fails to function, simply unplug the unit from the wall outlet, wait 10 minutes and plug it back in. The unit should return to normal operation.

• Avoid extreme heat or cold. (41˚F/5˚C - 104˚F/40˚C)

• Do not place the unit on or near appliances which may cause electromagnetic interference (e.g. speakers, etc). Doing so may cause erratic operation of the unit including picture and/or sound distortion or noise.

• Avoid extreme moisture and dust.

• The ventilation holes prevent overheating. Do not

block or cover these holes. Especially avoid covering the holes with soft materials such as cloth or paper.

• Do not insert fingers or any other objects into the cassette loading slot. Do not spray cleaner or wax directly on the unit or use forced air to remove dust.

• Avoid places subject to strong vibration. Use in a horizontal (flat) position only.

• Keep the unit away from flower vases, sinks, etc. If liquids should be spilled into the unit, serious damage will result. If you spill any liquids into the unit, unplug the AC power cord immediately and consult qualified service personnel before attempting to use it again.

• When you finish operating the unit, always unload the cassette and turn off the power.

• When you leave your home for a long time, unplug the AC power cord.

• To protect the unit from a lightning storm, unplug the AC power cord from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna.

INSTALL THE TV/VCR IN YOUR CAR

• For a car equipped with air bags, be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions whenever performing any electrical wiring work. Incorrect wiring can cause the air bag system of a car to malfunction.

• Never cut the insulation from the power supply lead in an attempt to draw power for another device. Doing so can overload the current capacity of the lead, creating the danger of fire and electric shock.

• For proper installation and wiring special technical knowledge is required. If you have any doubts about where to position or how to install components, contact the retailer where you purchased the product, your automobile dealership, or an automotive service provider. Note that you will be charged separately for installation work.

• Use all of the components that come with this product only as directed. Improper use of components can damage interior components or result in improper anchoring of components, which creates the danger of accident and personal injury.

• Improper installation creates the danger of fire and accident.

• Take care so wires are not pinched between chassis parts, by screws or by the seat as it slides on its rails, etc. Such conditions can cut wires and cause shorts, creating the danger of accident, electric shock, and fire.

• Avoid installation in areas subject to strong vibration and areas where secure anchoring cannot be achieved. Components installed in such areas can work loose, creating the danger of accident and personal injury .

• Never install the TV/VCR on the dashboard or in any other location where it obstructs forward vision.

• Never attach the stand to the roof of your car. Doing so creates the danger of the TV/VCR falling down.

• Never attach the stand to a sharply angled surface or to a surface that causes the TV/VCR to face downwards. Such installation can cause the TV/VCR to fall.

• Be sure to turn the ignition key of the car to the “OFF” position before connecting or disconnecting

wires and cables. Failure to do so creates the danger of electric shock and personal injury.

WARNING!

DRIVING SAFETY

• Never watch the TV/VCR or try to adjust settings while driving. Doing so creates the danger of traffic accident. Before operating the TV/VCR, be sure to stop the car in a safe area.

• Never install the unit on the dashboard or in any other location where it obstructs forward vision. Items that obstruct forward vision in a motor car may be illegal. Also, make sure that all components are installed where they do not interfere with operation of the steering wheel, shift lever, br ake pedal, etc., for example under the driver’s seat, and where they do not endanger passengers. Improper installation creates the danger of traffic accident and personal injury.

• Make sure all cables are bundled together so they do not interfere with car operation, as described in this manual. Improperly installed cables create the danger of entanglement with the steering wheel, shift lever , brake pedal, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• The unit is designed for use with a 12V DC automotive power supply. Never use it in a truck, bus, or any other car that has a 24V power supply.

• Be sure to stop your car in a safe area before watching or adjusting the TV/VCR.

• Operating the TV/VCR for a long time with the engine of your car stopped can run down your car’s battery.

• Never leave the TV/VCR in areas exposed to temperature extremes or strong direct sunlight. Leaving it in a closed car, in direct sunlight, near a heater, etc. can cause deformation of the case. Using this product in areas that are colder than 5°C (41°F) or hotter than 40°C (104°F) can result in poor image quality.

• Never use benzene or other chemical agents for cleaning. Chemicals can damage the case and remove markings. Use a soft cloth moistened with a weak solution of water and mild neutral detergent. Wring out all excess moisture from the cloth before wiping.

• Never drop the TV/VCR or otherwise subject it to strong impact.

• Should the TV/VCR ever begin to emit smoke, abnormal odor, or a strange noise, immediately turn off power and unplug the unit from the cigarette lighter socket. Continued use of the TV/VCR under any of these conditions creates the danger of fire and electric shock.

• Do not continue to use the TV/VCR if it is malfunctioning and does not produce a video image or sound. Whenever you notice such symptoms, immediately turn off power, unplug the TV/VCR from the cigarette lighter socket. Continued use of the TV/VCR creates the danger of fire and electric shock.

• When you leave your car unattended for long periods, be sure to unplug the TV/VCR from the cigarette lighter socket. Leaving the TV/VCR plugged in can run down the car’s battery.

Programmable ON/OFF Timer - Allows you to automati-

cally turn on or off the TV/VCR at a set time. Programmable TV Sleep Timer - Operable from the re-

mote control, the TV can be programmed up to 120 minutes to turn off automatically.

DESCRIPTION OF CONTROLS

FRONT:

1. Cassette Loading Slot - To inser t or remove a

video tape.

2. POWER Button - Press to turn the TV/VCR on or off .

3. POWER Indicator - Lights when the power is

turned on.

4. T.REC Indicator - Lights when the unit is in the Timer Record Mode.

5. REC/OTR Indicator - Lights up when the TV/VCR is recording.

6. CHANNEL ▲ / ▼ Buttons - Press to select a chan- nel for viewing or recording.

7. STOP/EJECT Button - Press once to stop the tape in any mode. Press again to eject the tape.

8. F.FWD (Fast Forward) Button - In the Stop mode, this button rapidly winds the tape forward. In the Play mode, this button activates forward search.

9. Remote Sensor - Signals from the Remote Control are received here.

10. REC/OTR Button - Press once to start normal recording. Additional presses activate One-touch Timer Recording.

11. VOLUME ▲ / ▼ Buttons - Press to raise or lower the level of the sound.

12. PLA Y Button - Press to play a prerecorded tape.

13. REW (Rewind) Button - In the Stop mode, this

button rapidly winds the tape backwards. In the Play mode, this button activates reverse search.

14. AUDIO/VIDEO IN (LINE 2) Jacks - Audio and video signal cables from an external source can be connected here.

15. PHONES Jack - Plug monaural headphones or an earphone with an 1/8" miniplug into this jack for private listening.

16. UHF/VHF Antenna Jack - Connect the 75 ohm

coaxial cable from the antenna or Cable TV service to this jack.

17. AUDIO/VIDEO OUT Jacks - Used to output audio and video signals to a TV, amplifier or VCR.

18. AUDIO/VIDEO IN (LINE 1) Jacks - Audio and video signal cables from an external source can be connected here.

19. AC Power Cord - Connect to a 120V, 60Hz outlet.

20. DC Input Jack - Connect the 12V DC car cord

(supplied) here for DC operation.

DESCRIPTION OF CONTROLS

1. POWER Button - Press to turn the TV/VCR on.

Press again to turn the TV/VCR off.

2. Direct Channel Selection Buttons (0-9) - Allows direct access to any channel.

3. CALL Button - Displays the present time/day of the week, channel, counter, speed selection (and VCR mode if VCR is playing) on the TV screen.

Slide the battery compartment cover. Install two “AAA” batteries, paying attention to the polarity diagram in the battery compartment.

BATTERY PRECAUTIONS

The precautions below should be followed when using batteries in this device:

1. Use only the size and type of batteries specified.

2. Be sure to follow the correct polarity when installing

the batteries as indicated in the battery compartment. Reversed batteries may cause damage to the device.

3. Do not mix different types of batteries together (e.g. Alkaline and Carbon-zinc) or old batteries with fresh ones.

4. If the device is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries to prevent damage or injury from possible battery leakage.

5. Do not try to recharge batteries not intended to be recharged; they can overheat and rupture (Follow battery manufacturer’s directions).

Use the AC polarized line cord provided for operation on AC. Insert the AC cord plug into a standard 120V 60Hz polarized AC outlet.

• If the polarized AC cord does not fit into a

This TV/VCR has an extended tuning range and can tune most cable channels without using a Cable TV converter box. Some cable companies offer "premium pay channels" in which the signal is scrambled. Descrambling these signals for normal viewing requires the use of a descrambler device which is generally provided by the cable company.

For basic cable service not requiring a Converter/Descrambler box, connect the CATV 75 ohm Coaxial Cable directly to the Antenna Jack on the back of the TV/VCR.

AUTO CLOCK SETTING

The Auto Clock function will automatically set the built-in clock (Month, Day, Year and Time) when the TV/VCR is connected to an Antenna or Cable system and it is turned off. As the TV/VCR searches for a receivable station in your area and it receives a broadcast signal for Auto Cloc k, the A uto Clock needs several minutes to set itself.

AUTO CLOCK SETTING

1 Connect the Antenna or Cab le system.

• If you use a cable box, turn it on.

2 Plug the AC Power cord to the AC outlet. 3 Make sure the TV/VCR is turned off.

• If you press the POWER b utton, the Auto Clock set is

not effective.

4 Wait at least three minutes and press the POWER

button.

5 Press the CALL button to check the clock on the screen. 6 If the cloc k is not set, check the Antenna condition. The

Auto Clock may not function properly if the reception condition is not good.

AUTO CLOCK ADJUSTMENT

The Auto Clock Adjustment will be perf ormed at 12:00 PM everyday if you turn off the TV/VCR.

• If you use a cable box and you want Auto Clock adjust-

ment to be performed, the cable box must be left on.

• The Auto Clock Adjustment is not effective when there

is a difference of more than 5 minutes exists between the built-in clock time and the actual time.

TO SET AUTO CLOCK TO OFF

When shipped from factory the AUTO CLOCK option is set to ON. But if you do not want Auto Clock set (Adjustment):

1 Turn on the TV/VCR. 2 Press the MENU button. 3 Press the SET/TRACKING + or – button to select the

SYSTEM SET-UP option, then press the ENTER button.

4 Press the SET/TRACKING + or – button to select the

AUTO CLOCK option.

5 Press the ENTER button to select OFF. 6 Press the MENU button repeatedly to return to the

normal screen.

• When the AUT O CLOCK is set to OFF, the Auto Clock

adjustment does not function.

• Set the clock manually (see page 14).

TO SET STANDARD TIME

In the rare event that you live within broadcast range of two stations in two different time zones, the TV/VCR may recognize the wrong station for the Auto Clock set. To correct the situation:

1 Press the MENU button. 2 Press the SET/TRACKING + or – button to select the

SYSTEM SET-UP option, then press the ENTER button.

3 Press the SET/TRACKING + or – button to select the

STANDARD TIME option, then Press the ENTER button.

To set the TV/VCR to turn off after a preset amount of time, press the SLEEP button on the remote control. The clock will count down 10 minutes for each press of the SLEEP button (120, 110, ...10, 0). After the sleep time is programmed, the display will appear briefly every ten minutes to remind you that the sleep timer is operating. To confirm the sleep timer setting, press the SLEEP button and the remaining time will be momentarily displayed. To cancel the sleep timer, press the SLEEP button repeatedly until the display turns to 0.

This television has the capability to decode and display Closed Captioned television programs. Closed Captioning will display text on the screen for hearing impaired viewers or it will translate and display text in another language.

CLOSED CAPTIONING WITH A VCR

Closed Captioned programs can be recorded and played back on a VCR with the Closed Captioned text intact. The Closed Captioned text will disappear during Cue (Fast Forward Search), Review (Rewind Search) and Pause Modes or if the VCR tracking is not adjusted properly.

TO VIEW CLOSED CAPTIONS

Press the TV/CAP/TEXT button on the remote control to switch between normal TV and the two Closed Caption Modes (Captions and Full Screen Text).

• If using an indoor antenna or if TV reception

is very poor, the Closed Caption Decoder text may not appear. In this case, adjust the antenna for better reception or use an outdoor antenna.

•When activating the Closed Captioned

Decoder, there will be a short delay before the Closed Captioned text appears on the screen.

•Closed Captioned TV programs can be

recorded and played back on a VCR with the Closed Captioned text intact. The Closed Captioning text will disappear during Cue, Rewind and Pause modes or if the VCR tracking is not adjusted properly.

•Closed Captioned text is only displayed in

locations where it is available.

•If the Call display is on, the Closed Captioning

text will not appear.

TV OPERATION

T O MEMORIZE CHANNELS

Captions: This Closed Caption Mode will display text on

the screen in English or another language (depending on the setting of the Closed Captions CH. 1 or 2). Generally, Closed Captions in English are transmitted on Captions Channel 1 and Closed Captions in other languages are transmitted on Captions Channel 2.

Text: The Text Closed Caption Mode will usually fill the screen with a programming schedule or other information. After selecting a Closed Caption Mode, it will stay in effect until it is changed, even if the channel is changed. If the Captions signal is lost due to a commercial or a break in the signal, the Captions will reappear when the signal is received again. If the channels are changed, the Captions will be delayed approximately 10 seconds. The Captions will appear in places on the screen where they will least interfere with the picture, usually on the bottom of the screen. News programs will usually show three-line Closed Captions which scroll onto the screen. Most other shows provide two or three lined Captions placed near the character who is speaking so the viewer can follow the dialogue. Words in italics or underlined describe titles, words in foreign languages or words requiring emphasis. Words that are sung usually appear enclosed by musical notes. For television programs broadcasting with Closed Captions, look in your TV guide for the Closed Captions symbol (CC).

This TV/VCR is equipped with a channel memory feature which allows channels to skip up or down to the next channel set into memory, skipping over unwanted channels. Before selecting channels, they must be programmed into the TV/VCR’s memory. In addition to normal VHF and UHF channels, this TV/ VCR can receive up to 113 Cable TV channels. To use this TV/VCR with an antenna, set the TV/CATV menu option to the TV mode. When shipped from the factory, this menu option is in the CATV mode.

Push the center of the tape until it is automatically retracted into the TV/VCR.

AUTOMATIC POWER ON AND PLAY

When loading a cassette tape without the erase prevention tab intact, the TV/VCR will turn on automatically and playback will start immediately.

Insert the cassette with its labeled side facing you. An inverted video cassette cannot be inserted.

UNLOADING

To unload a video cassette, press the EJECT button on the remote control, or press the STOP/EJECT button on the TV/VCR twice. The first press will stop the tape in any mode. The second press will eject the tape.

AUTOMATIC EJECT

If the TV/VCR automatically rewinds the tape to the beginning (AUTO REWIND FEATURE), the tape will be ejected automatically (See NOTE on page 20).

When a tape is played, the Digital Auto Tracking system automatically adjusts the tracking to obtain the best possible picture. If noise bars appear during playback, adjust the tracking manually as follows:

RECEPTION DISTURBANCES

Most types of television interference can be remedied by adjusting the height and position of the VHF/UHF antenna. Outdoor antennas are recommended for best results. The most common types of television interference are shown below . If one of these symptoms appear when the TV/VCR is connected to a Cable TV system, the disturbance may be caused by the local Cable TV company broadcast.

IGNITION

Black spots or horizontal streaks may appear, the picture may flutter or drift. Usually caused by interference from automobile ignition systems, neon lamps or AC powered tools and appliances such as drills or hair dryers.

GHOSTS

Ghosts are caused by the television signal following two paths. One is the direct path and the other is reflected by tall buildings, hills or other large objects. Changing the direction or position of the antenna may improve the reception.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

To prevent fire or shock hazard, disconnect the TV/VCR from the AC power sources before cleaning. The finish on the cabinet may be cleaned with mild soap and a soft, damp cloth and cared for as other furniture. Use caution when cleaning or wiping the plastic parts.

VIDEO HEAD CLEANING

VIDEO HEAD CLOGGING

The video heads are the means by which the TV/VCR reads the picture from the tape during playback. In the unlikely event that the heads become dirty enough to be clogged, no picture will be played back. This can easily be determined if, during playback of a known good tape, there is good sound, but no picture (picture is extremely snowy). If this is the case, use a high quality head cleaning system or have them cleaned professionally.

SNOW

If the TV/VCR is located far from the TV station, in a fringe reception area where the signal is weak, small dots may appear in the picture. If the signal is extremely weak, the installation of a larger external antenna may be necessary .

RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE (RFI)

Caused by two-way radios, this type of interference produces moving ripples or diagonal streaks in the picture. Some cases may cause a loss of contrast in the picture. Changing the direction and position of the antenna or installing an RFI filter may improve the picture.

PICTURE SIZE VARIATION

A slight picture size variation is normal when you adjust the CONTRAST or BRIGHTNESS settings.

VIDEO HEAD CLEANING

Video head cleaning is needed when the playback picture becomes unclear. This signifies that the heads are getting dirty and can occur when playing poor quality or damaged tapes. If the heads require cleaning, use a equivalent high quality chemical non-abrasive (wet) head cleaning tape or have them cleaned professionally. If playing a head cleaning tape in the VCR once does not improve the picture, play it several times before requesting service.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CLEAN THE VIDEO HEADS OR SERVICE THE UNIT BY REMOVING THE TOP COVER.

NOTES: • Video heads may eventually wear out and

should be replaced when they fail to produce clear pictures.

• To help prevent video head clogging, use only good quality VHS tapes. Discard worn out tapes.

16. Pénétration de liquide ou d’un corps étranger

PRÉCAUTIONS À PRENDRE

CONDENSATION D’HUMIDITÉ

N’UTILISEZ PAS LE MAGNETOSCOPE DE CET APPAREIL PENDANT AU MOINS DEUX A TROIS HEURES QUAND L’HUMIDITE DANS L’AIR PRODUIT DE LA CONDENSATION DANS L’APPAREIL.

■ QUE SIGNIFIE LA CONDENSATION?

Par exemple, quand on verse un liquide chaud dans un verre froid, de la vapeur d’humidité se condense sur la surface du verre et forme de la buée. C’est de la condensation.

■ DANS LES CAS SUIVANTS, DE LA CONDENSA-

TION PEUT SE DEPOSER SUR L’APPAREIL:

•Quand vous déplacez l’appareil d’un endroit froid à un endroit chaud.

•Après avoir chauffé une pièce froide ou si l’humidité ambiante est très élevée.

■ SI UNE DE CES SITUATIONS SE PRESENTE

“DEW” apparaît sur l’écran et toutes les touches de fonction à l’exception de la touche EJECT (ou de la touche STOP/EJECT sur l’appareil) ne fonctionnent pas afin de protéger les têtes vidéo. Dans ce cas, éjectez la cassette vidéo, laissez l’appareil sous tension et à la température de la pièce jusqu’à ce que la condensation d’humidité disparaisse. En fonction de l’environnement, cela peut prendre deux ou trois heures.

EMPLACEMENT ET MANIPULATION

• Si vous sentez une décharge statique quand vous touchez l’appareil et s’il ne fonctionne pas, débranchez-le simplement de la prise murale, attendez 10 minutes puis branchez-le à nouveau. L'appareil devrait fonctionner normalement.

• Evitez les chaleurs et les froids extrêmes. (41˚F/5˚C-104˚F/40˚C)

• Ne placez pas l’appareil à proximité ou sur des appareils pouvant causer des interférences électromagnétiques, comme un téléviseur, un hautparleur, etc., car cela peut affecter négativement le fonctionnement de l’appareil en déformant l’image ou/ et le son ou en créant des parasites.

• Evitez les endroits très humides et/ou poussiéreux.

• Les orifices d’aération empêchent le surchauffage.

Ne bloquez pas et ne couvrez pas ces orifices. Evitez spécialement de couvrir les orifices d’objets mous comme du tissu ou du papier.

• N’insérez pas les doigts ni aucun autre objet dans le compartiment à cassette. Ne vaporisez pas de nettoyant ni de cire sur l’appareil et n’utilisez pas de l’air forcé pour enlever la poussière.

• Evitez les endroits sujets à vibrations. Placez toujours l’appareil à l’horizontale (à plat).

• Ne placez pas l’appareil près de vases à fleurs, d’un évier, etc., car la pénétration d’un liquide à l’intérieur

peut causer de sérieux dommages. Si cela se produit, débranchez immédiatement l’appareil du réseau électrique et contactez un réparateur qualifié avant d’essayer de le remettre en marche.

• Quand vous avez terminé d’utiliser l’appareil, retirez la cassette du compartiment et mettez l’appareil hors circuit.

• Si vous vous absentez de votre domicile pour une période prolongée, débranchez le cordon d’alimentation de la prise électrique du CA.

• Pour protéger l’appareil en cas d'orage, débranchez le cordon d'alimentation de la prise murale et déconnectez l'antenne.

INSTALLATION DE L’APPAREIL DANS VOTRE AUTOMOBILE

• Si vous possédez une automobile munie de sacs gonflables, assurez-vous de suivre attentivement les directives du fabricant si vous effectuez des travaux sur les câbles électriques. Toute installation incorrecte pourrait entraîner un mauvais fonctionnement des sacs gonflables de votre automobile.

• Ne coupez jamais la membrane isolante qui recouvre les fils électriques dans le but d’obtenir l’alimentation électrique à partir d’un autre appareil. En tentant une telle manoeuvre, vous risquez de surcharger la capacité du fil et créer ainsi un risque d’incendie ou de choc électrique.

• Toute installation ou raccordement de fils électriques requiert une formation spécialisée dans ce domaine. Si vous n’êtes pas absolument certain de la façon de procéder (positionnement des fils, installation, etc.), nous vous recommandons de contacter à ce sujet le marchand qui vous a vendu l’appareil, votre concessionnaire automobile ou un atelier de réparation automobile. Toute installation particulière vous sera facturée par les spécialistes qui s’en chargeront.

• Utilisez les composantes vendues avec cet appareil en vous limitant aux directives fournies. Tout usage non prescrit des composantes peut entraîner des dommages aux pièces internes ou aux fixations des composantes, causant ainsi un danger d’accident ou de blessure.

• Toute installation incorrecte constitue un danger d’incendie et d’accident.

• Veillez à ce qu’aucun fil ou câble ne soit coincé par le boîtier de l’appareil par des vis ou sur le siège du véhicule lorsqu’on glisse l’appareil dessus. Lorsqu’ils sont écrasés, les fils ont tendance à se couper et causer des courts-circuits, créant alors un risque d’accident, d’incendie et de choc électrique.

•Évitez de placer l’appareil dans un endroit où il sera soumis à d’intenses vibrations et où il ne pourra être fixé fermement en place dans le véhicule. Les appareils installés de cette façon sont sujets à se détacher de leur fixation et entraîner un risque d’accident et de blessure.

• N’installez jamais le téléviseur / magnétoscope sur le tableau de bord ou à tout autre endroit dans le véhicule où il serait susceptible d’obstruer la vision du conducteur.

• N’installez jamais un dispositif de fixation au toit du véhicule. L’appareil risque de tomber et de s’endommager.

• N’installez jamais la fixation de l’appareil sur une surface à angle prononcé ou de façon telle, que le devant de l’appareil soit face au sol. Installé ainsi, l’appareil risquerait de tomber.

• Veillez à ce que le moteur du véhicule soit arrêté (clés à la position OFF) lorsque vous branchez et

débranchez les câbles de l’appareil. Si vous ne le faites pas, vous risquez de subir un choc électrique ou de vous blesser.

SÉCURITÉ À BORD DU VÉHICULE

• Ne regardez jamais le téléviseur / magnétoscope et n’essayez pas d’ajuster ses réglages pendant que vous conduisez le véhicule. Cela pourrait causer un accident de la circulation. Si vous désirez faire fonctionner le téléviseur / magnétoscope, immobilisez d’abord le véhicule dans un endroit sécuritaire.

• N’installez jamais le téléviseur / magnétoscope sur le tableau de bord ou à tout autre endroit dans le véhicule où il serait susceptible d’obstruer la vision du conducteur . Il peut être illégal de placer dans un véhicule moteur des objets qui obstruent la vue avant. Veillez également à ce que toutes les composantes rattachées à l’appareil soient installées de manière à ne pas nuire à la conduite automobile (en obstruant le mouvement du volant, du levier de vitesses, de la pédale de frein ou en mettant les câbles sous le siège du conducteur par exemple) et à ce qu’il ne représente pas un danger pour les passagers. Toute installation incorrecte constitue un danger d’accident de la circulation et de blessure.

• Veillez à ce que les câbl es soient disposés de manière à nuire le moins possible à la conduite du véhicule automobile, tel qu’il est expliqué dans le présent manuel. Des câbles mal placés peuvent s’enrouler autour du volant, de la pédale de frein, du levier de vitesses, etc.

REMARQUES IMPORTANTES :

• Cet appareil a été conçu pour s’alimenter à partir d’une source de courant continu (CC) de 12 volts. Ne l’utilisez jamais dans un camion, un autobus ou tout autre véhicule fournissant une alimentation de 24 volts.

• Veillez à toujours immobiliser votre véhicule dans un endroit sécuritaire avant de tenter d’ajuster ou d’utiliser le téléviseur / magnétoscope.

• Si vous utilisez le téléviseur / magnétoscope pendant une période prolongée, alors qu’il s’alimente sur le groupe électrogène de votre véhicule, et que ce dernier est arrêté, cela peut faire en sorte que la batterie de l’automobile se vide de toute son énergie.

• N’exposez jamais le téléviseur / magnétoscope à des températures extrêmes ou aux rayons directs du soleil. Si vous laissez l’appareil au soleil, dans un véhicule fermé ou à proximité d’un appareil de chauffage, le boîtier risque de se déformer sous l’effet de la chaleur. Si vous utilisez le téléviseur / magnétoscope dans un environnement où il fait moins de 5°C (41°F) ou plus de 40°C (104°F), vous risquez d’obtenir une image de qualité médiocre.

• N’utilisez jamais de benzène ni d’autres produits chimiques de ce genre pour nettoyer le boîtier de l’appareil. Ces produits chimiques peuvent endommager le fini de l’appareil et effacer les inscriptions. Utilisez plutôt un linge doux, trempé dans de l’eau savonneuse. Tordez bien le linge avant d’essuyer l’appareil avec.

• Ne laissez pas tomber le téléviseur / magnétoscope sur le sol et ne le soumettez pas à ce genre d’impact violent.

• Si vous notez que de la fumée s’échappe du téléviseur / magnétoscope, qu’une odeur bizarre s’en dégage ou qu’il produit un bruit anormal, éteignez-le immédiatement et débranchez-le de la source d’alimentation (l’allumecigarette). Si vous continuez d’utiliser l’appareil dans ces conditions, vous risquez de provoquer un incendie ou un choc électrique.

• Cessez immédiatement d’utiliser le téléviseur / magnétoscope si ce dernier ne fonctionne pas correctement, qu’aucune image n’apparaît à l’écran ou qu’aucun son n’émane de l’appareil. Si cela se produit, éteignez immédiatement l’appareil et débranchez-le de la source d’alimentation (l’allume-cigarette). Si vous continuez d’utiliser l’appareil dans ces conditions, vous risquez de provoquer un incendie ou un choc électrique.

• Lorsque vous sortez de votre automobile et le quittez pour un certain temps, assurez-vous de toujours débrancher le téléviseur / magnétoscope de l’allume-cigarette. Si vous le laissez branché, vous risquez de vider la batterie de votre véhicule de toute son énergie.

possible d'enregistrer une émission diffusée à la même heure chaque jour ou chaque semaine.

Réglage automatique de l’horloge - Une fois que votre téléviseur/magnétoscope est branché sur une prise de courant et qu’il est raccordé à un réseau de câblodistribution, l’horloge (heure et date) peut être réglée automatiquement par l’entremise du signal provenant d’une des stations de télévision, via le câble.

Programmation à l’écran du téléviseur/magnétoscope -

Lorsque vous choisissez un canal ou effectuez un changement, un indicateur apparaît à l'écran pendant quelques secondes. L'enregistrement par minuterie peut être programmé, et les réglages affichés à l'écran pour vérification.

Réglage de l'image par télécommande - L'affichage à l'écran permet de régler avec précision, au moyen de la télécommande, la luminosité, la couleur, le contraste, la netteté et la teinte de l'image.

Lecture/rebobinage-arrêt-éjection automatiques - Quand vous insérez une cassette sans languette de protection, la lecture commence automatiquement à vitesse appropriée. Pendant la lecture ou l'enregistrement, quand la bande arrive au bout de sa course, elle s'arrête, se rebobine, puis la cassette s'éjecte automatiquement.

DESCRIPTION DES COMMANDES

AVANT:

1. Compartiment à cassette - Insérez la vidéocassette

dans ce compartiment et retirez-la après son éjection.

2. Interrupteur d'alimentation (POWER) - Pour mettre l'appareil en ou hors circuit.

3. Voyant d'alimentation (Power) - S'allume quand l'appareil est en circuit.

4. Voyant d'enregistrement programmé (T.REC) -

S'allume quand la touche TIMER REC est pressée.

5. Voyant d'enregistrement/enregistrement simplifié (REC/OTR) - S'allume quand l'appareil est en mode

d'enregistrement.

6. Sélecteurs de canaux (CHANNEL ▲ / ▼) - Pour choisir un canal diffusant l’émission que vous désirez regarder ou enregistrer.

7. Touche d'arrêt/éjection (STOP/EJECT) - Pressez une fois pour arrêter la bande. Pressez encore une fois pour éjecter la cassette.

8. Touche d’avance rapide (F.FWD) - En mode d’arrêt, fait défiler la bande rapidement en marche avant. En mode de lecture, cette touche actionne la recherche rapide en marche avant.

9. Capteur de la télécommande - Les signaux de la télécommande sont reçus ici.

10. Touche d'enregistrement/enregistrement simplifié

(REC/OTR) - Pressez une fois pour commencer un

enregistrement ordinaire. Pressez plusieurs fois pour activer l'enregistrement simplifié une touche (OTR).

cette prise le câble coaxial de 75 ohms de l'antenne ou le câble du système de câblodistribution.

Pour la sortie des signaux audio et vidéo vers un téléviseur, un amplificateur ou un magnétoscope.

18. Prises d'entrée VIDEO/AUDIO (VIDEO/AUDIO IN)

(LINE 1) - Pour raccorder les câbles d'entrée des

signaux audio/vidéo d'une source extérieure.

19. Cordon d'alimentation du CA - Pour brancher l'appareil sur une prise de 120 volts, 60 Hz.

DESCRIPTION DES TOUCHES

1. Interrupteur d'alimentation (POWER) - Pressez-le pour

mettre l'appareil en et hors circuit.

2. Touches numériques d'accès direct (0 à 9) - Permet l'accès direct à tout canal de télévision.

3. Touche de rappel (CALL) - Pour faire apparaître à l'écran l'heure actuelle, le jour de la semaine, le numéro du canal, l'indication du compteur de bande, la vitesse sélectionnée (et le mode magnétoscope, si le magnétoscope est utilisé).

4. Touche d'enregistrement/enregistrement simplifié (REC/ OTR) - Pressez une fois pour commencer un enregistrement

ordinaire, plusieurs fois pour activer l'enregistrement simplifié une touche (OTR).

5. Touche de rebobinage (REW) - En mode d'arrêt, fait défiler la bande rapidement en marche arrière. En mode de lecture, l'appareil passe au mode de recherche arrière.

6. Sélecteur de la vitesse de défilement (SPEED) - Pour sélectionner la vitesse d'enregistrement.

7. Touche de MENU - Pressez pour faire apparaître le menu des fonctions à l’écran.

8. Touche de confirmation de programmation (PROGRAM) -

Pressez cette touche pour activer l'enregistrement par minuterie et la minuterie de mise sous/hors tension.

9. Touche de recherc he a vec évitement (SKIP SEARCH) -

Pressez cette touche pendant le mode de lecture, pour faire une recherche vers l'avant par portions de 30 secondes jusqu’à un maximum de 3 minutes.

10. Touche de contrôle (TV MONI.) - Lorsque le magnétoscope se trouve en mode de lecture d’une vidéocassette, pressez cette touche afin de faire apparaître un moment à l’écran l’émission télévisée diffusée sur le canal syntonisé par le téléviseur.

11. Touches de réglage des canaux (CHANNEL + / –) - Pressez la touche + pour passer à un canal à numéro plus élevé mis en mémoire. Pressez la touche – pour passer à un canal à numéro plusbas mis en mémoire.

12. Touche de revue rapide (QUICK VIEW) - Pour passer du canal syntonisé à celui que vous regardiez auparavant.

13. Touche de mise en sourdine (MUTING) - Pressez pour couper temporairement le son. Pressez-la de nouveau pour le rétablir.

14. Touche d’avance rapide (F.FWD) - En mode d’arrêt, fait

défiler la bande rapidement en marche avant. En mode de lecture, l’appareil passe au mode de recherche avant.

15. Touche d'alignement numérique automatique (AUTO

TRACKING) - Permet le réglage automatique de l'alignement,

pour minimiser les parasites visuels pendant la lecture.

Puisque la télécommande est alimentée par des piles, vous devez observer les précautions suivantes:

Utilisez seulement des piles de format et de genre

spécifiés. Quand vous insérez les piles, assurez-vous d'observer

leur polarité, tel qu'indiqué à l'intérieur du compartiment. Si vous inversez les piles, vous pouvez endommager la télécommande. Ne mélangez pas des piles de genres différents (par

UTILISATION DU COURANT ALTERNATIF

Utilisez le cordon d’alimentation polarisé du CA fourni avec l’appareil. Branchez la fiche du cordon de l’appareil sur une prise électrique polarisée de courant altenatif de 120 volts 60 hertz.

REMARQUES:

• Ne branchez jamais le cordon d’alimentation CA sur une

prise à tension autre que celle spécifiée (120 volts, 60 hertz) et utilisez seulement le cordon d’alimentation fourni.

• S’il est impossible d’insérer la fiche polarisée dans une

prise de CA non polarisée, n’essayez pas de couper ni de limer la lame la plus large. Il incombe à l’utilisateur de demander à un électricien de remplacer la prise désuète.

• Si vous recevez un choc électrique quand vous touchez

• Si vous branchez l’appareil directement sur l’allume-cigarette d’un automobile tel un véhicule récréatif- veillez à ce que le cordon d’alimentation soit branché APRÈS que vous ayez démarré le véhicule, afin d’éviter que la batterie se décharge.

• Ne tentez pas d’alimenter le téléviseur / magnétoscope à partir de la batterie de votre automobile si celle-ci est faible. Une surtension provenant de l’alternateur de l’automobile pourrait faire griller le fusible d’alimentation CC.

• Vérifiez régulièrement le niveau d’énergie que contient la batterie de votre automobile lorsque vous utilisez souvent le téléviseur / magnétoscope en le branchant sur l’allume-cigarette.

REMPLACEMENT DU FUSIBLE DE L’ALLUME-CIGARETTE

Si le fusible de l’allume-cigarette de votre automobile saute, remplacez-le avec un fusible de 8 ampères (de type “allumage rapide”) tel qu’illustré ci-dessous. Dévissez le bout de la fiche afin de pouvoir enlever le fusible défectueux.

RÉGLAGE AUTOMATIQUE DE L’HORLOGE

La fonction de réglage automatique de l’horloge ajuste automatiquement l’horloge intégrée (mois, jour, année et heure) quand le téléviseur/magnétoscope est connecté à une antenne ou à un système de câble et est éteint. Le téléviseur doit rechercher une station pouvant être captée dans votre région et recevoir le signal émis pour l’ajustement automatique de l’horloge. Il prendra quelques minutes pour remettre l'horloge à l'heure.

RÉGLAGE AUTOMATIQUE DE L’HORLOGE

1. Connectez l’antenne ou le système de câble.

• Si vous utilisez un boîtier de raccordement au câble, mettez-le sous tension.

2. Branchez le cordon d’alimentation CA sur une prise de courant murale.

3. Assurez-vous que le téléviseur soit hors tension.

• Si vous appuyez sur l’interrupteur d’alimentation

(POWER), l’ajustement automatique de l’horloge ne fonctionnera pas.

4. Attendez au moins trois minutes et appuyez sur la touche POWER.

Appuyez sur la touche CALL pour vérifier l’horloge sur l’écran.

6. Si l’horloge n’est pas réglée, vérifiez l’antenne. L’ajustement automatique de l’horloge ne fonctionne pas si les conditions de réception laissent à désirer.

AJUSTEMENT AUTOMATIQUE DE L’HORLOGE

L’ajustement automatique de l’horloge est réalisé à min uit tous les jours si le téléviseur/magnétoscope est éteint.

• Si vous utilisez un décodeur pour le câble et souhaitez que

l’ajustement automatique soit réalisé, vous dev ez le laisser allumé.

• L’ajustement automatique de l’horloge ne fonctionne pas

s’il y a plus de 5 minutes de différence entre l’horloge intégrée et l’heure actuelle.

POUR DÉSACTIVER L’AJUSTEMENT AUTOMATIQUE DE L’HORLOGE

À la sortie de l’usine, l’option AUTO CLOCK est réglée sur ON (activée). Mais si vous ne souhaitez pas utiliser l’ajustement automatique de l’horloge, effectuez ce qui suit:

1. Mettez le téléviseur/magnétoscope sous tension.

2. Appuyez sur la touche MENU.

3. Appuyez sur la touche SET/TRACKING + ou – pour

choisir l’option SYSTEM SET-UP, puis appuyez sur la touche ENTER.

4. Appuyez sur la touche SET/TRACKING + ou – pour choisir l’option d’ajustement automatique de l’horloge (AUTO CLOCK).

5. Appuyez sur la touche ENTER pour choisir OFF (désactivé).

6. Pressez plusieurs fois sur la touche MENU pour retourner

à un écran normal.

• Quand AUTO CLOCK est réglé sur OFF (désactivé),

l’ajustement automatique de l’horloge et la fonction d’heure d’été ne fonctionnent pas.

• Réglez l’horloge manuellement (voir page 14).

POUR METTRE L'HORLOGE À L'HEURE LOCALE

Il peut arriver que vous habitiez dans un endroit où deux stations de fuseau horaire différents émettent. Le téléviseur/ magnétoscope peut, dans ce cas, utiliser la mauvaise station pour l’ajustement automatique de l’horloge. Pour corriger ce problème, effectuez ce qui suit:

1.Appuyez sur la touche MENU.

2.Appuyez sur la touche SET/TRACKING + ou – pour

choisir l’option SYSTEM SET-UP, puis appuyez sur la touche ENTER.

3.Appuyez sur la touche SET/TRACKING + ou – pour choisir l’option STANDARD TIME, puis appuyez sur la touche ENTER.

4.Appuyez sur la touche SET/TRACKING + ou – pour choisir votre fuseau horaire, puis appuyez sur la touche

Pressez et relâchez la touche CHANNEL + ou –. L'appareil passe automatiquement au prochain canal mis en mémoire. Pour obtenir de bons résultats, avant de choisir les canaux, ils doivent être mis dans la mémoire du téléviseur. Voyez la section sur la “MISE EN MEMOIRE DES CANAUX”, aux pages 16 et 17.

RAPPEL (CALL)

Pressez la touche CALL. L’horloge, la date, le numéro de canal, le compteur de bande en temps réel, la vitesse de la bande et le fonctionnement du magnétoscope seront affichés. Pressez de nouveau la touche CALL pour faire disparaître les informations à l’écran.

ARRET DIFFERE (SLEEP)

Lorsque vous désirez programmer l'appareil pour qu'il s'éteigne automatiquement après une période prédéterminée, pressez la touche SLEEP de la télécommande. L'heure affichée dimin uera de 10 minutes à chaque pression, c'est-à-dire qu'elle comptera 120, 110,

100...20, 10, 0. Après la progr ammation de la durée avant l'arrêt différé, le chiffre affiché disparaît puis réapparaît temporairement toutes les dix minutes pour rappeler que cette fonction est activée. Pour vérifier la durée restante, pressez une fois la touche SLEEP et cette durée sera temporairement affichée. Pour désactiver cette fonction, pressez de f açon répétée la touche SLEEP jusqu'à ce que l'affichage indique "0".

REVUE RAPIDE (QUICK VIEW)

Cette touche permet de retourner au canal que vous regardiez précédemment. Pressez-la de nouveau pour retourner au canal actuel.

TELEVISION/SOUS-TITRES/TEXTE (TV/ CAPTION/TEXT)

Pressez cette touche pour passer entre le visionnement normal de la télévision ou les deux modes de sous-titres (sous-titres ou texte sur tout l'écran). Ces modes sont utilisés pour les téléspectateurs malentendants.

REMARQUES:

• Si vous utilisez une antenne intérieure ou si la réception est mauvaise, le texte ou les sous-titres peuvent ne pas apparaître. Dans ce cas, changez la position de l'antenne ou utilisez une antenne extérieure.

•

Quand le décodeur de sous-titres est mis en circuit, il y a un court délai avant que le texte/sous-titre apparaisse à l'écran.

• Les émissions télévisées avec sous-titres peuvent être enregistrées et reproduites par un

magnétoscope, le texte/sous-titre intact. Le texte/ sous-titre disparaît pendant les modes de repérage, rebobinage et pause, ou si l'alignement du magnétoscope est mal réglé.

• Les sous-titres apparaissent seulement dans les endroits où ce service est offert.

• Lorsque la fonction d’affichage à l’écran est utilisée, les sous-titres ne peuvent apparaître au bas de l’écran.

QUE SIGNIFIE SOUS-TITRAGE?

Ce téléviseur a la capacité de décoder et d'afficher les émissions télévisées avec sous-titres. Ces émissions

sont télédiffusées avec un signal comportant des soustitres en une ou même plusieurs langues parfois.

LECTURE DES SOUS-TITRES PAR UN MAGNETOSCOPE

Les émissions à sous-titres peuvent être enregistrées et reproduites par un magnétoscope, avec les sous-titres tels quels. Ces sous-titres disparaissent pendant le mode de repérage (recherche avant), de rebobinage (recherche arrière) et de pause, ou si l'alignement du magnétoscope est mal réglé.

VISIONNEMENT DES EMISSIONS SOUS-TITREES

Pressez la touche TV/CAP/TEXT de la télécommande pour passer du visionnement normal de la télévision aux deux modes de sous-titrage (sous-titres et texte sur tout l'écran).

FONCTIONNEMENT DU TÉLÉVISEUR

Sous-titres (CAPTIONS): Ce mode fait afficher le texte

à l'écran en anglais ou en une autre langue (suivant le réglage du sélecteur CH.1 ou 2). En général, les émissions à sous-titres anglais sont transmises au canal 1 et les émissions à sous-titres en une autre langue sont transmises au canal 2. Texte (TEXT): En général, ce mode fait apparaître tout un texte à l'écran, affichant un horaire des émissions ou d'autres informations. Quand vous choisissez le mode de sous-titrage, il demeure activé jusqu'à ce que vous le changiez, même si vous changez de canal. Si le signal de sous-titrage est perdu, à cause d'une annonce télévisée ou une interruption de transmission, les sous-titres apparaîtront de nouveau quand le signal sera reçu de nouveau. Quand vous changez de canal, les sous-titres apparaissent environ 10 secondes plus tard. Les sous-titres apparaissent en général au bas de l'écran, pour avoir le moins d'interférence possible avec l'image. Lorsqu'il s'agit du journal télévisé, trois lignes du texte de nouvelles apparaissent normalement à l'écran. La plupart des autres émissions offrent deux ou trois lignes de sous-titres près de la personne qui parle afin que le téléspectateur puisse suivre facilement le dialogue. Les mots soulignés ou en italique indiquent des titres, des mots en langue étrangère ou des mots qui doivent être accentués. Les mots chantés sont en général entourés de notes musicales. Dans les guides d'émissions télévisées, celles à soustitrage sont en général accompagnées du symbole "CC" (CLOSED CAPTIONED).

• Quand vous choisissez le mode à sous-titrage, les sous-titres apparaissent à l'écran environ 10 secondes plus tard.

• Si aucun signal de sous-titrage n'est reçu, les soustitres n'apparaissent pas mais le téléviseur reste en mode de sous-titrage.

• Des fautes d'orthographe ou des caractères insolites apparaissent parfois dans les sous-titres. C'est tout à fait normal, surtout si l'émission est en direct, car alors les sous-titres sont créés en direct et il n'y a pas assez de temps pour les vérifier.

• En mode de sous-titrage, l'affichage du volume ou de la mise en sourdine peut ne pas être visible ou peut interférer avec les sous-titres.

• Certains systèmes de câblodistribution ou de protection anticopie peuvent interférer avec le sous-titrage.

• Si vous utilisez une antenne intérieure ou si la réception est mauvaise, le texte ou sous-titre peut ne pas apparaître ou apparaître avec des fautes ou des caractères insolites. Dans ce cas, changez la position de l'antenne ou utilisez une antenne extérieure.

MISE EN MEMOIRE DES CANAUX

Les canaux disponibles dans votre région peuvent être programmés dans la mémoire de ce téléviseur/ magnétoscope. Ce qui permet de balay er tous les canaux mémorisés, en or dre cr oissant/décroissant, à partir du canal présent, ou de sauter les canaux non désirés. A v ant de choisir les canaux, ils doivent avoir été mis en mémoire. En plus de recev oir les canaux VHF et UHF, v otre nouvel appareil peut aussi capter jusqu'à 113 canaux câblodistribués. Pour utiliser ce téléviseur avec une antenne, réglez l'option de menu TV/CA TV à la position "TV". Lor sque l'appareil est expédié de l'usine, cette option est réglée à la position "CATV".

POUR RÉGLER L’HEURE DE MISE SOUS TENSION

Cette fonction vous permet de mettre le téléviseur/ magnétoscope sous tension à une heure déterminée. Si vous programmez une fois la minuterie de mise sous tension (ON), le téléviseur se mettra sous tension chaque jour programmé (quotidiennement ou hebdomadairement) à la même heure et sur le même canal. EXEMPLE: Mise sous tension du téléviseur sur le canal

12 à 7h00 du matin du lundi au vendredi.

REMARQUES:

INSERTION ET RETRAIT DE LA CASSETTE VIDEO

Utilisez seulement des vidéocassettes de format

INSERTION

Pressez délicatement le centre de la cassette jusqu'à ce qu'elle soit chargée automatiquement dans le compartiment.

LECTURE AUTOMATIQUE

Quand vous insérez une cassette sans languette de protection dans le compartiment du magnétoscope, la lecture commence immédiatement.

Insérez la cassette avec le côté portant l'étiquette vous faisant face.Il est impossible d'insérer la cassette à l'envers.

RETRAIT

Pressez deux fois la touche d'arrêt/ éjection (STOP/EJECT). La

première pression arrête le défilement de la bande, la seconde fait éjecter la cassette.

EJECTION AUTOMATIQUE

Si l'appareil rebobine automatiquement la bande jusqu'à son début (rebobinage automatique), la cassette est éjectée automatiquement. (voyez la REMARQUE à la page 20.)

REMARQUES:

• Retirez la cassette du compartiment quand elle n'est pas utilisée.

• La cassette peut être éjectée du compartiment même si l'appareil est hors circuit (OFF).

PROTECTION CONTRE UN EFFACEMENT ACCIDENTEL

Si vous voulez conserver intacte un enregistrement en particulier, cassez la languette de protection de la cassette pour éviter de l'effacer par mégarde.

RECHERCHE D'IMAGE EN MARCHE AVANT/ARRIERE

Si vous voulez visionner l'image pendant le mode de rebobinage ou d'avance rapide, pressez la touche de rebobinage (REW) ou d’avance rapide (FWD) selon le cas, et conservez-la enfoncée. L'image, pendant la recherche visuelle arrière ou avant apparaîtra à l'écran. Relâchez la touche pour retourner au mode de rebobinage ou d’avance rapide.

Couvrez l'orifice avec un morceau de ruban adhésif en veillant à ce que le ruban ne dépasse pas les bords de la cassette.

ALIGNEMENT NUMERIQUE

Lors de la lecture d'une bande, le système d'alignement numérique règle automatiquement l'alignement afin d'obtenir la meilleure image possible. Si des barres parasites apparaissent sur l'image pendant la lecture, réglez manuellement l'alignement.

• Pressez la touche SET/TRACKING + ou – pour obtenir la meilleure image possible. "MANUAL TR." apparaît à l'écran pendant 4 secondes. Pour continuer l'alignement automatique, pressez la touche AUTO TRACKING. "AUT O TR." apparaît à l'écran pendant 4 secondes.

POUR REGARDER UNE EMISSION TELEVISEE

Pressez la touche TV MONI. pendant le mode de lecture. La bande continue à défiler, mais l'image à l'écran est celle de l'émission de télévision diffusée par le canal syntonisé par le magnétoscope. Relâchez la touche pour revenir à l'image de lecture.

La vitesse de la recherche visuelle dépend de la vitesse utilisée pour l'enregistrement (SP, LP ou SLP). Voyez le tableau ci-dessous. Pour le rebobinage ou l'avance rapide, pressez d'abord la touche STOP, puis la touche F.FWD ou REW.

RECHERCHE PAR EVITEMENT

Pressez la touche SKIP SEARCH pendant le mode de lecture. L'appareil avance rapidement sur une portion équivalente à 30 secondes de lecture (par exemple pour éviter une annonce indésirée) chaque fois que vous pressez la touche SKIP SEARCH (six pressions au maximum) puis continue la lecture normale une fois que la portion de bande désirée a été évitée.

ARRÊT SUR IMAGE

Pressez la touche PAUSE/STILL pendant la lecture. Pressez la touche PLAY ou la touche PAUSE/STILL pour reprendre la lecture normale.

REMARQUES:

• Le son est coupé pendant la recherche rapide et l'arrêt sur image.

• En mode de recherche rapide et d'image fixe, l'image est légèrement parasitée.

• Pour éviter d'endommager la bande, le magnétoscope passe automatiquement en mode lecture s'il reste plus de 5 minutes au mode d'arrêt sur image ou de recherche visuelle.

REMARQUE:

Pour désactiver le mode de répétition, suivez les étapes 1 et 2 ci-dessus, puis pressez la touche ENTER pour choisir la position "OFF" (mode désactivé). Pressez la touche MENU pour revenir au visionnement de la télévision. Le mode de répétition de lecture est désactivé automatiquement quand l'appareil est mis hors tension ou quand la cassette est éjectée.

L'enregistrement simplifié une touche offre un moyen simple et pratique d'effectuer un enregistrement programmé.

Exemple: Enregistrement simplifié pour une durée de

30 minutes.

1 Pressez l'interrupteur d’alimentation (POWER) pour

mettre l'appareil en circuit.

2 Insérez une vidéocassette dotée de la languette de pro-

tection.

3 Pressez la touche SPEED pour

choisir la vitesse désirée (SP ou SLP). "SP" ou "SLP" apparaît à l'écran.

4 Assurez-vous que le sélecteur de

mode TV/CATV est réglé à la position qui convient.

6 Pour d'autres programmations de la minuterie,

pressez la touche SET/TRACKING + ou – pour choisir le prochain numéro de programmation, puis pressez la touche ENTER. Répétez les étapes 4 à 5 pour programmer le prochain enregistrement.

7 Pressez la touche TIMER REC. L'indicateur T.REC

est allumé. La minuterie est programmée, et lorsque l'heure programmée arrivera, l'enregistrement

commencera automatiquement.

Pour annuler l'enregistrement programmé, pressez de nouveau cette touche et le vo yant T .REC s'éteint.

REMARQUES:

• Si vous essayez de programmer un enregistrement sans qu'il y ait une cassette dans l'appareil ou si vous tentez d’utiliser une cassette sans languette de protec- tion, l'enregistrement par minuterie ne sera pas effectué. Si vous insérez une cassette sans languette de protection, la cassette sera éjectée du compartiment.

• Pour enregistrer un signal télévisé provenant d'un autre appareil, pressez la touche la touche SET/TRACKING à plusieurs reprises + ou – jusqu’à ce que "L1" (pour les prises VIDEO/AUDIO LINE 1 à l’arrière de l’appareil) ou "L2

" (pour les prises VIDEO/AUDIO IN à l’avant de

l’appareil) apparaisse au réglage du canal à l’étape 5.

• La composante magnétoscope ne peut pas être utilisée lorsque l’indicateur T.REC est allumé. Si vous souhaitez utiliser le magnétoscope, pressez la touche TIMER REC pour désactiver la minuterie.

• Après une panne d'électricité ou un débranchement du cordon d'alimentation, tous les réglages d'enregistrement programmés et l'affichage de l'heure seront perdus lorsque l'électricité sera rétablie. Dans ce cas, reprogrammez l'horloge (voir page 13-14) et tous les enregistrements de la minuterie.

• Si vous souhaitez corriger un chiffre pendant le réglage, pressez la touche CANCEL pour choisir le paramètre que vous souhaitez corriger, puis pressez la touche SET/TRACKING + ou – pour changer le réglage.

PROBLÈMES DE RÉCEPTION

Il est possible de remédier à la plupart des interférences à la télévision en réglant la hauteur et en changeant la position de l'antenne VHF/UHF. Pour obtenir les meilleurs résultats, il est recommandé d'utiliser une antenne extérieure. La plupart des interférences sont expliquées ci-dessous. Si un de ces symptômes apparaît quand le téléviseur est raccordé au système de câblodistribution, le problème peut être causé par votre compagnie de câblodistribution locale.

Des taches noires ou des rayures horizontales peuvent apparaître ou l'image peut trembler ou dériver. En général, ces interférences sont causées par le système d'allumage de véhicules, des lampes au néon, des perceuses électriques ou d'autres appareils électriques.

IMAGE-FANTOME

Les images-fantômes sont souvent causées par le signal télévisé qui suit deux voies, une, la directe, et l'autre, qui est réfléchie par des édifices, collines ou autres obstacles sur son chemin. Il est souvent possible d'améliorer la réception en changeant la direction ou la position de l'antenne.

IMAGE ENNEIGEE

Si votre récepteur se trouve dans les régions limitrophes d'une station de télévision où le signal est faible, l'image peut être criblée de petits points. Dans ce cas, il est peut-être nécessaire d'utiliser une antenne extérieure pour obtenir une bonne réception.

INTERFERENCE DE LA FREQUENCE RADIO

Ce genre d'interférence produit des parasites en forme d'ondulations ou de rayures diagonales, et dans certains cas, une perte de contraste de l'image. Il est possible d'améliorer l'image en changeant la direction et la position de l'antenne ou en installant un filtre RFI.

V ARIA TION DE LA GRANDEUR DE L'IMAGE

Une légère variation de la grandeur de l'image est normale lors du réglage de la commande de contraste ou de luminosité.

SOINS ET ENTRETIEN

Pour éviter les risques d'incendie ou de choc électrique, déconnectez l'appareil de la source du CA avant de le nettoyer. Comme pour nettoyer tout meuble, essuyez le boîtier avec un linge doux humecté d'eau légèrement savonneuse. Faites attention en nettoyant ou en essuyant les pièces en plastique.

Les têtes vidéo sont les moyens par lesquels le magnétoscope peut reproduire l'image. Avec le temps, il est possible, quoique peu probable, qu'elles s'encrassent. Alors, il n'y a pas d'image à la lecture. Et cet état de fait est confirmé si, à la lecture d'une bonne cassette, le son est bon mais il n'y a pas d'image ou l'image est extrêmement neigeuse. Dans ce cas, faites vérifier l'appareil par un réparateur qualifié.

NETTOYAGE DES TÊTES VIDÉO

Les têtes vidéo doivent être nettoyées si la lecture devient médiocre. Le fait de reproduire des bandes endommagées ou de mauvaise qualité peut causer ce problème. Pour nettoyer les têtes, utilisez une cassette spéciale à liquide chimique non abrasif conçue spécialement à cette fin ou faites-les nettoyer par un technicien qualifié. Si la cassette nettoyante n’améliore pas la situation, utilisez-la plusieurs fois avant de faire appel à un centre de service.

En vertu de cette garantie, l’engagement de CITIZEN ELECTRONICS se limite à la réparation, incluant le coût des pièces et de la main-d’œuvre nécessaire, ou le cas échéant, et ce à l’entière discrétion de CITIZEN ELECTRONICS, au remplacement, de tout appareil vidéo présentant un défaut de fabrication pendant la période au cours de laquelle il est couvert par la garantie. Les pièces de rechange lors d’une réparation sous garantie sont aussi couvertes par la garantie pendant une période égale à la portion non expirée de la garantie originale sur l’appareil.

EXCLUSIONS DE LA GARANTIE

Cette garantie couvre tous les appareils vidéo de marque CITIZEN achetés au Canada. Elle ne s’applique pas aux éléments décoratifs et accessoires, incluant, sans y être restreinte : l’antenne, l’enveloppe extérieure et les pièces et boutons qui composent cette dernière, les piles, les câbles de raccordement, les cassettes. D’autre part, cette garantie ne couvre pas les ajustements effectués par le propriétaire de l’appareil et décrites dans le manuel d’instructions ; les dommages survenus lors de la manipulation, du transport, du déballage de l’appareil ou attribuables aux raccordements, à l’installation, à une réparation ou un remplacement de pièces effectué et/ou fournis par un centre de service non autorisé par CITIZEN ; toute panne ou mauvais fonctionnement causé ou résultant de conditions environnementales anormales, une réparation incorrectement effectuée par une personne non autorisée, un mauvais entretien, des modifications ou réparations effectuées par le propriétaire, un usage abusif, une mauvaise utilisation, de la négligence, un accident, un raccord à un réseau électrique de tension inadéquat, un incendie, une inondation ou tout autre désastre naturel, le nettoyage des têtes vidéo (si l’appareil est muni de cette composante), des problèmes de réception causés par une antenne externe, le réseau de câblodistribution ou de l’interférence. Cet appareil vidéo n’est couvert par la garantie que pour la personne qui en a fait l’achat à l’état neuf chez le détaillant. Cette garantie est annulée si l’appareil est utilisé à des fins commerciales ou de location. La garantie dans ce dernier cas se limite à une période de 30 jours sur les pièces et la main-d’œuvre. Enfin, la garantie est annulée si les numéros de série sont modifiés, illisibles ou enlevés. Il est au consommateur d’assumer les frais de transport de l’aller et retour du centre de service. Les réparations sous garantie ne peuvent être effectuées qu’au Canada.
