Torque is the force that gets you—and whatever you need to move—rolling from a dead stop. It’s the power to get heav y things from one place to another. TRAILERS ARE MEANT TO FOLLOW. SILVERADO IS MEANT TO LEAD.
You don’t saw logs with a steak knife. You don’t cut hay with a garden tractor. And you don’t haul vintage muscle cars with just any truck. Silverado HD is at its best towing gooseneck and f ifth-wheel trailers of varying sizes up to a best-in-class 23,000 lbs.
The DIESEL EXHAUST BRAKE SYSTEM helps keep heavy loads in check by evaluating the load and grade, and if needed, uses a variable vane geometry turbo to create the necessary back pressure to slow your rig and help reduce brake use. Together with the available Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine and Allison transmission, diesel exhaust braking is simply a way for engine exhaust to help slow the heavy load you’re towing downhill.
The available on your dash, provides measured brake force to the electriccontrolled trailer brakes for added confidence while towing heavy loads. maintain vehicle speed on long, steep descents.
While these trailering features help stop your heavily loaded truck, Silverado HD gets your rig rolling smoothly—even on hills.

TRAILERING BASICS
NOTE : Towing a trailer involves all major vehicle systems of your Chevy truck. Easy and safe trailering requ ires a properly equipped vehicle, additional trailering equipment and an appropriate

It also requ ires loadi ng both the veh icle and trailer prop erly, using safe d riving t echniques, meeti ng regiona l legal requi rements, and follow ing break-in a nd mainten ance schedu les. The vehicle o wner is resp onsible for obta inin g the proper equ ipment (hit ch ball , hitch of the pr oper size a nd capacity) re quired to s afely tow bot h the tra iler and th e load. For more in formation , consult your Ow ner’s Manu al or spea k to a trai lering e xpert at you r Chevrole t dealersh ip. These ch arts w ill a ssist in det ermin ing how to b est equip you r Chevy tr uck for tra ilerin g. To help you under stand the cha rts, con sider these t raileri ng factor s:
RGAW R AND GVWR : Add ition of tra iler hitch we ight can not cause veh icle weight s to exceed R ear Gross A xle Weight R ating ( RGAWR) or Gross Vehic le Weight Rati ng (GVW R). These rati ngs can b e found on th e certif ication lab el located on th e driver door or door f rame.
