Be sure not to allow the propeller or the rudder to touch the bed of the water.
If this is allowed to happen it may lead to permanent damage and severly affect the manoeuvrability and speed of the boat. If necessary, change the propellers for the replacement pair.
Feed the antenna cable through the antenna tube and then fix this to the Carrera RC-model. Secure the end of the antenna cable with a Carrera RC sticker from the logo sheet.

Safety instructions
A Carrera RC boat is a remotecontrolled model boat that uses special rechargeable batteries for this purpose. Only original Carrera RC Li-Ion rechargeable batteries may be used. Rechargeable batteries are to be removed from the boat before being charged.
When starting, always switch the controller on first, then the boat. When finishing, always reverse the order of these actions!
The Carrera RC boat must be inspected before and after operation, each time it is used, to ensure that it has not become disassembled. Any screws or nuts that may have become loosened during operation must be tightened.
Do not run your boat during a thunderstorm! Atmospheric interference can lead to malfunctions.
Safety propeller
The propeller switches off on being taken out of the water.
Please note particularly that the propellers have no function out of the water.
The boat cannot be operated on the ground.
Do not expose the Carrera RC boat to direct sunlight. To avoid the electronics in the boat overheating, when temperatures are above 35 °C, regular short pauses in operation are essential
The toy is to be operated in water only when fully assembled. Please ensure your remote control batteries have the required capacity and make sure the LI-Ion power pack is fully charged.
Handle the tip of the antenna with care. Danger of injury!
Never use strong solvents for cleaning your model.
Please clean the water sensor contacts regularly with tap water and a little vinegar-based cleaner.
To avoid malfunctions to the control system resulting in uncontrolled operation of the Carrera RC boat, check that the controller batteries and the rechargeable batteries in the boat have sufficient charge. Supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
After each running session, open the two drainage plugs at the bow and stern and pour away any condensation which may have accumulated. Only replace the plugs in these openings immediately before you use the boat for another running session.

Always recharge the battery immediately after use to prevent its becoming deep discharged. Recharge the batter y occasionally (suggested every 2-3 months). Failure to treat the battery as described above can lead to its becoming defective. Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult supervision! Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged by adults or by children at least 8 years old.
Switch on the Carrera RC boat using the ON/OFF switch.
Let’s practise!
GREEN = ReadyRED = Chargi ng
Charging the rechargeable battery
Now you can drive the boat
Installing the rechargeable battery
Using a screwdriver, remove the cover of the batter y compartment in the Carrera RC boat.
Connect the end of the cable from the Carrera RC boat with the charged battery. Put the battery in place. Replace the compartment cover using a screwdriver.
Unscrew the cover of the battery compartment in the controller and insert the 9 V block battery.
When inserting the 9 V block battery, ensure that the polarit y is correct. Different types of batteries or new and used batteries are not to be mixed. Replace the cover using a screwdriver.
First connect the Carrera RC rechargeable battery to the battery charger supplied. The connection terminals between the battery and the charger are designed to prevent connection with the wrong polarity. Connect the charger to a power source. When the battery is properly connected and charging normally, the red LED is constantly lit. Once the battery is fully charged, the red LED switches to green. The battery can now be disconnected and installed in the Carrera RC boat. The boat is now read y for use. After use, the battery must be allowed to cool down for at least 20 minutes before it can be fully recharged. Failure to observe this pause may damage the battery.
Pull out the antenna of the controller to its full extent.
Switch on the Carrera RC-controller at the ON/OFF switc h.
Caution: this boat can reach speeds up to 20 km/h.
When first starting, be very careful when operating the gas pedal. Practice running slowly for at least two to three full charges of the battery before you start practising faster manoeuvres.
Note: when the controller remains unused for more than 2 minutes, it switches automatically into “sleep” mode to avoid wasting power in the controller’s 9 V bat tery. This means the boat receives no more radio signals and behaves as described under point 5 on page 11 “Range control ”.
• Bring the boat back to the bank after about 20 minutes to change the battery
• Never run more than 2 batteries down one after the other. After running down two fully-charged batteries , a pause in running for at least 20 minutes is essential.
• Avoid constant motor operation.
• If the model switches itself off several times in quick succession, the battery is
dead. Please recharge the battery.
• To switch off after use, follow the steps in the reverse order.
• After use, remove or disconnect the battery.
• Clean the Carrera RC boat after the running session.
• Always keep the Carrera RC battery stor ed outside the boat .

Acoustic battery condition monitoring
Problem Cause Solution
Boat does not move
Either the switch on the controller or the boat is set to OFF. Switch on.
There is no rechargeable battery in the boat or the battery is too weak.
Insert charge d batter y.
Signal note is emitted - weak battery in the controller or in the model. Insert new battery or recharged battery.
The contacts of the water sensor are dirty.
Please clean the water sensor contacts regularly with tap water and a little vinegar-based cleaner.
The boat is very warm. Allow the RC boat to cool down for about 30 minutes.
Boat cannot be controlled
Transmitter antenna is defective. Extend the antenna fully.
Another RC boat is using the same frequency. Wait until the captain of the other ship has finished running.

Controller functions
The joysticks can be stored in the special compartment at the back of the controller. Then plug the microphone in to the controller and fasten it to the carrying strap with the clip.
When the boat’s battery is almost empty, a continuous signal note is emitted. Please steer immediately to the bank, and change the battery.
You can steer the model in any direction using the joysticks:
Joystick on left: forwards/backwards Joystick on right: left/right
The joysticks are removable.
Range control
When it goes beyond the range of the radio frequency, or the controller is not touched for over 2 minutes, the boat sails in small but ever-increasing circles to try to regain the radio frequency range. Make sure you operate the controller once if necessary to deactivate the “sleep” mode. See page 10 “Let ’s practise”.
Alternatively, the model can be controlled with the rockers.
The boat‘s horn is sounded when you press the lef t-hand but ton on the contro ller.
The joysticks can be stored in the special compartment at the back of the controller.
You can make an announcement over the boat’s loudspeaker by pressing the right-hand button on the controller while speaking into the microphone.
