2. ABOUTDMCTECHNOLOGY

YourSMARTHfeaturestwodistinctintercomcommunicationmodes:thetraditionalBluetoothprotocolandthe

uniqueDMC*technology.

UseBluetoothtoconnecttodevices,suchasyoursmartphoneorGPS,ortocommunicatewithriderswithheadsets

thatdon'tincludeDMCtechnology.However,whenconnectedtootherDMC-poweredriders,youwillsoonlearn

thatitisbyfarthemostadvancedwaytocommunicateinagroupofthreeormoreriders.InDMCmodeyouwill

instantlycreateadynamically-fluidnetworkofriderstocommunicateinfullconferencemode.UnlikeBluetooth,DMC

allowsanyoneinthegrouptoroamfreely,overtakeeachotherorevenleavethegroupaltogether,withoutaffecting

theongoingconversationsoftheremainingfellowriders.

HowDoes ItWork?

AnymembercanstartanewDMCgroup.WheninDMCmode,thegroupcreator'sdevicewillsearchforotherriders

inDMCintercommodewithinrangeandautomaticallyaddthemtothegroup.

WhenusingDMCintercommode,whenevergroupmembersexceedrangewitheachother,theyareautomatically

re-connectedwithinsplitsecondstoaclosergroupmemberinorderto"leapfrog"totheremoterider.Thisway,

everyoneremainsconnectedtoeveryoneelse.

Otherriderscanjoin,leave,andrejoinexistingDMCgroupswithoutaffectingtheongoingconversationamongthe

othergroupmembers.

3. CHARGINGTHESMARTH

MakesurethatyourSMARTHbatteryischargedforatleast4hoursbeforeinitialuse.

TochargetheSMARTH:

1.UsingthesuppliedUSBcable,connectyourcomputerorwallchargertotheSMARTHUSBport.

● ChargingwiththewallchargerisfasterthanviaacomputerUSBport.

● Chargingyourunitswitchesitoffautomatically.Touseyourunitwhileitisbeingcharged,switchiton.(see

SwitchingYourUnitOn/Offonpage8).

Duringcharging,theLEDindicateschargingstatusasfollows:

YourSMARTHhastwoBluetoothchannelsforconnectiontoBluetoothdevicessuchasmobilephones,GPSdevices

andBluetoothmusicplayerswithA2DP.

ToconnectyourSMARTHtoaBluetoothdevice,youmustfirstpairthemwhileinStandby(see

Events-LEDIndications

onpage49).Oncepaired,theyautomaticallyrecognizeeachotherwhenevertheyarewithin

SMARTHModesand

range.

4.5.1PAIRING THROUGHTHEUNITBUTTONS

Ifyouarepairingmorethanonedevice,Cardorecommendsthatyoupairthemobilephonetochannel1,andthe

additionaldevice(suchasGPS,musicplayeroradditionalmobilephone)tochannel2.

TopairBluetoothchannel1toamobilephone:

1.EnableBluetoothonthemobilephone.

2.Press

for5seconds.TheLEDflashesredandblue.

5. SETTINGUPANDUSINGDMCINTERCOMGROUPS

YoucanmanageDMCintercomgroupstosuityourridingrequirements,suchascreatinggroups,joininggroups,leave

andrejoingroupsorchangeyouractivegroup.

DMCintercomgroupsarecreatedanddeletedbyagroupcreator.Eachgroupcanhaveuptofourriders:onegroup

creatorandamaximumofthreegroupmembers.

ThroughtheSmartSetapp,groupcreatorscanmanageuptosixgroupssimultaneously,andgroupmemberscanjoin

uptosixgroups,withonegroupactiveatatime.

Whencreatingagroup,allmembersshouldbewithin3meters/10feetofthecreator.Thegroupcontinues

functioningevenifthecreatorisnolongeravailable.

Ifarider'sconnectionislost,theriderremainspartofthegroupandreconnectsautomaticallyonceinrange.

IfyoupurchasedtheSMARTHDUO,theretailpackagecontainstwounitsbelongingtothesameDMCintercom

group.

5.1CREATINGDMCINTERCOMGROUPS

WhencreatingaDMCgroup,youmustcoordinatewiththeotherriderswhowillbethegroupcreator.Thegroup

creatorthencreatesthegroup(asdefinedfollowing),andonceitiscreated,theotherridersjointhecreatedgroupas

members(see

TocreateaDMCgroupthroughtheunitbuttons:

1.ConfirmyourSMARTHisinDMCintercommode(LEDflashesgreenslowly).

IfyourDMCgroupsplitswithsomegroupmembersremaininginrangeofeachotherbutnotinrangeofallgroup

members,youcancontinuespeakingwiththemembersstillinrange.Onceinrangeofanyothergroupmember,you

automaticallyreconnect.

IfyoujoinanewDMCgroup,youautomaticallyleaveyourexistingDMCgroup.

unitsautomaticallyrecognizeeachotherwhenevertheyareinrange(lineofsightupto1.2km/3,900ftsubjectto

terrain).

● Pairingachannelreplacesanyexistingpairedunitonthatchannelwiththenewunit.

● IfyoupurchasedtheSMARTHDUO,theretailpackagecontainstwopre-pairedunitsinDMCmode.

● TheIntercomrangewithothermodelsislimitedtothedistanceoftheunitwiththeshorterrange.

6.13-WAYAND4-WAYBLUETOOTHINTERCOM CALLS

Inadditiontostandard2-wayBluetoothintercomcalls,youcanusetheSMARTHfor3-wayand4-wayBluetooth

intercomcallsonCardoandnon-Cardounits.SMARTHallowsfull-duplexBluetoothintercomcommunicationforupto

3ridersor4riders/passengerstocommunicateupto1.2km/3,900ftinlineofsight(subjecttoterrain).

Ina3-wayBluetoothintercom,youareconnectedtotworiders/passengersandeachofthoseridersareconnected

onlytoyou.Youcancalleachofthetworiders/passengers.IfyouarealreadyinaBluetoothintercomcallwithone

rider/passenger,justaddanother.Allthreeriders/passengersarenowconnectedina3-wayBluetoothintercomcall.

Ina4-wayintercomconferencecall,therearetwopairsofriders.Ineachpair,theridersareconnectedtoeachother

throughchannelA.Ineachpair,oneoftheriders(riders2and3inthefigurebelow)isalsoconnectedtoariderinthe

otherpairthroughchannelB.Allfourridersarenowallconnectedina4-wayBluetoothintercomcall.

Cardorecommendsthatduringa3-wayor4-wayintercomconferencecall,ariderthatisusingmobilephoneor

GPSnavigationshouldbeconnectedtoonlyoneBluetoothintercomcall(riders1and4intheabovediagram)so

theycancontinuetohearmobilephoneandGPSannouncements.

Usingparallelaudiostreaming,youcanalsospeakona3-wayor4-wayBluetoothintercomcallwhilelisteningtoFM

radio.TheBluetoothintercomvolumeremainsthesamewhiletheFMradioplaysatareducedvolumeinthe

background.
