UNPARALLELED IMAGE QUALITY
Developed to achieve the look and feel of offset printing, the
imagePRESS C1 digital print system is more than a color printer–
it’s a color press. The proof? Your eyes will see it in the out-
standing image quality. Simply stated, the output from the
Canon imagePRESS C1 system is remarkable. It’s far beyond
what you’re used to seeing from conventional digital printers.
This quantum leap in image quality starts with color. The
imagePRESS C1 system’s colors are vivid and accurate. Lines
and text print with sharp, crisp detail. Underlying these dramatic
images are innovations in toner, image processing, and fusing.
ENHANCED COLOR PRINTING
A revolutionary technology called V Toner is changing the expec-
tations of color quality. The imagePRESS C1 digital print system
utilizes a wax-based toner with an extremely small particle size—
averaging only 5.5 microns. V toner is oil-free and helps prevent
the unflattering 3D effect, long a signature of digital color printing.
One question often comes up: “Is this really digital printing?” With
an appearance that mirrors the look and feel of offset printing, this
digital press will bring new choices to the industry.

MEDIA FLEXIBILITY FOR LARGER AND THICKER MEDIA,
WITHOUT COMPROMISE
Proofing and design often require a large printable area, enough
space to show not only the image, but also the full bleed and
registration marks. The imagePRESS C1 system will print on media

With the advent of V Toner, another long sought-after goal of digital
printing has been met—a natural-looking gloss finish.This technology,
known as Gloss Optimization, sets the imagePRESS C1 system apart
from the field of traditional toner-based devices. V Toner closely
matches the gloss level of the media, maintaining the desired
appearance. It’s the combination of the V Toner and fusing tech-
nologies that makes it all possible.
CALIBRATION TECHNOLOGIES ARE JUST
THE BEGINNING OF CONSISTENCY CONTROL
Image quality is important, but it must also be delivered
consistently time and time again. It’s one accomplishment to
achieve the look and feel of offset, but can it be delivered sheet
after sheet, morning to night, and day to day?
Calibration and color accuracy go hand-in-hand. Without frequent
calibration, the color will drift and, as a result, the image quality
will suffer. Despite best efforts, calibrating is sometimes over-
looked. With the imagePRESS C1 digital print system, Canon
developed a process to automatically calibrate the device. This
advanced calibration process helps ensure that the color
difference, or delta E, will be low and the color accuracy, high.

In addition to the large print area, the imagePRESS C1 system has
an Advanced Imaging Transfer Belt (AITB) for media-handling that
won’t sacrifice quality on thick and coated media. This belt delivers
flexibility to handle media weights from 17 lb. Bond (64gsm) up to
140 lb. Index (256gsm).
ARCHITECTURE THAT DRIVES PRODUCTIVITY
imagePlatform for imagePRESS provides multifunctionality for
creative and production environments. The imagePRESS C1 system
makes high-quality color printing and copying available while also
addressing other document distribution needs. Canon’s optional
Color Universal Send technology allows users to scan documents to
e-mail, file, or Mail Box for quick and easy delivery of business infor-
mation. The optional Universal Send PDF Advanced Feature Set-A1,
incorporates the Trace & Smooth function, which allows you to
convert text or line art of scanned images to scalable outline data
for sharp edges.
The Canon imagePRESS C1 digital print system delivers outstand-
