Electrical Requirements

Avoid electrical shock. This appliance is equipped with a 3-prong grounding plug for your protection against shock hazard and it should be plugged directly into a properly grounded receptacle. Do not cut or remove the grounding prong from this plug. If the plug fails to fit into an existing outlet, contact a qualified electrician to update the outlet.

Use proper extension cord. The extension cord must be a grounding-type 3-wire cord. A short power-supply cord should be used to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. Extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used, the marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical

rating of the appliance and the cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally.

Parts and Features

OPTI-HEATTM System

Optimal Heat Delivery:

The precision placement of the No Peek Waffle Maker’s heating elements, along with the internal temperature sensor, helps maintain even heat across the waffle plates. This means you’ll enjoy evenly browned waffles, with a slight crust on the outside and a tender texture on the inside.

Premium Materials:

Your No Peek Waffle Maker’s high performance bronze nonstick finish is backed with our exclusive 5-year warranty, and it offers flawless release as well as easy clean-up. The waffle plates are made from heavy-gauge cast aluminum.

No PeekTM Progress Indicator – Our exclusive No Peek LED control lights gradually illuminate as your waffles cook to the selected level of browning – from “Light”, to “Medium” to “Dark”. So, as the lights appear, you’ll see the progress and know when your waffles are done without needing to take a peek inside.

Elevated, Easy-to-Read Control – No more straining to see control knobs and settings. The exclusive raised No Peek control illuminates so you know when the waffle maker is “On” and “Off”.

Sleek, Contoured Design – The updated, contoured shape of your No Peek Waffle Maker complements contemporary kitchen designs, and the sleek stainless steel housing coordinates with other Calphalon countertop appliances.

4-Square Belgian-Style Waffle Plates – Enjoy restaurant quality Belgian waffles in the comfort of your own kitchen. The large waffle plates allow you to make four waffles at once. So, whether you’re making breakfast for family or special dessert waffles for friends, impress them with only the best.

6

Nonstick Coating For Easy Release – The premium nonstick coated waffle plates eliminate the annoyance of waffle batter that sticks. That means you won’t waste time scraping bits of waffle from the plates.

Auto-Off Timer – For your safety, your Calphalon No Peek Waffle Maker will automatically shut off if it is left on continuously for 60 minutes. If you’re cooking a lot of waffles and need it to operate longer, simply turn the control “Off” and then turn it right back on.

Upright Storage – Save space in the kitchen with the convenient upright storage of the No Peek Waffle Maker. Just close the No Peek Waffle Maker, slide the locking lever into the locked position, and tuck the waffle maker away standing upright for space-saving convenience.

Assembling Your No PeekTM Waffle Maker

1.Carefully remove all the pieces of the No Peek Waffle Maker from the packaging and place on counter near a suitable electrical outlet. (See page 5 for information

regarding electrical requirements.) Remove all packaging materials, including any stickers or tags, from the waffle maker before first use.

2.Before the first use, wipe the waffle plates with a damp cloth.

3.Plug power cord into 3-prong electrical outlet and continue with steps for “Operating Your No Peek Waffle Maker”.

7

Operating Your No PeekTM Waffle Maker

Setting The Controls

Step 1: Choose the desired shade setting. Turn the control knob clockwise to the desired level of browning – light, medium or dark.

Step 2: Allow the No PeekTM Waffle Maker to preheat. As the waffle maker preheats, the lights between “Off” and your chosen setting will gradually illuminate. Once the light next to your chosen setting illuminates, the No Peek Waffle Maker chime will sound, indicating that it is ready to cook waffles.

Step 3: Add batter to the no peek waffle maker.

Open the No Peek Waffle Maker and pour approximately 2 cups of waffle batter evenly over the bottom plate. Use a temperature resistant nylon or wood utensil to spread the batter evenly over the bottom plate. Close the No Peek Waffle Maker.

NOTE: The premium bronze nonstick finish of your Calphalon No PeekTM Waffle Maker means that you do not need to grease the waffle plates – not even the first time you use it.

WARNING

WHEN POURING BATTER OR REMOVING WAFFLES FROM THE WAFFLE MAKER, PREVENT THE WAFFLE MAKER FROM ACCIDENTALLY CLOSING BY HOLDING THE HANDLE FOR THE UPPER WAFFLE PLATE WITH AN OVEN MITT.

As the waffles cook, the No Peek lights gradually illuminate to your selected level of browning – from “Light” to “Medium”

to “Dark”. As the lights appear, you’ll track the progress of your waffles cooking, and know when they are done – without peeking inside.

8

Step 4: Remove waffles. When the waffles are done, a chime will sound. Open the waffle maker and remove the waffles carefully with a heat resistant nylon or wood utensil.

Using the Storage Lock Lever

WARNING

THE STORAGE LOCK LEVER MAY BE HOT WHILE THE WAFFLE MAKER IS IN USE. ALLOW THE WAFFLE MAKER TO FULLY COOL BEFORE LOCKING IT FOR STORAGE. USE CARE WHEN ADJUSTING THE STORAGE LOCK LEVER.

Your Calphalon No Peek Waffle Maker includes a locking feature that holds the waffle maker together so you can conveniently store it upright.

1.After use, allow the No Peek Waffle Maker to completely cool.

2.Clean the waffle plates and housing as needed.

3.Close the No Peek Waffle Maker.

4.Slide the storage lock lever to the locked position.

Cleaning and Care

1.Metal utensils will damage the nonstick coating. Use only nonmetal, temperature resistant utensils, such as wood or nylon.

2.When you are done using the No Peek Waffle Maker, turn it “Off” and carefully unplug it.

3.Allow the No Peek Waffle Maker to cool completely.

4.Clean the waffle plates with a clean, damp cloth.

5.Wipe the No Peek Waffle Maker base with a clean, damp cloth. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the surface of the No Peek Waffle Maker.

9

WARNING

DO NOT IMMERSE THE WAFFLE MAKER IN WATER OR SPRAY WATER ONTO THE WAFFLE PLATES.

Frequently Asked Questions

The waffles I made were rounded on the edges instead of square. What happened? You probably didn’t use enough waffle batter. Our No Peek Waffle Maker takes about 2 cups of batter per batch, though you may need to experiment to determine the right amount for the way you like to make waffles. Be sure to use a heat-resistant nylon or wood utensil to spread the batter evenly over the bottom plate so that all of the corners are filled. This will ensure that every waffle is beautifully shaped.

My waffles stuck to the grates. What did I do wrong? Be sure you preheat the No Peek Waffle Maker before adding the batter. Turn the knob to the desired level of browning and then wait until all of the lights between “Off” and that setting are illuminated and the chime sounds.

If I want to make two waffles instead of four, can I fill half of the no peek waffle maker at a time?

Yes, simply use half the amount of batter and pour it over half of the waffle plates.

Is it important to follow the waffle recipes in this guide, or can I use my grandmother’s waffle recipe?

Use any of your favorite waffle recipes, and then try some of ours. We have creative new ideas we’re sure your family will love, too. Waffles are great for breakfast, lunch and even dessert.
