Congratulations on the purchase of your new Bushnell binocular. The Spectator Sport Zoom features multi-coated optics and high performance BaK-4 porro prisms to maximize available light and produce images with the highest level of edge-to-edge clarity. The wide zoom range (from 8 to 24 power) lets you take in the entire scene or zero in on a distant detail. This precision viewing system is contained in a lightweight (only 10.8 oz), well balanced binocular that’s stylish and easy to use. A clear, stadium-approved carrying case is included.
This manual will help you optimize performance by explaining how to adjust the binocular for your eyes, using features and accessories, and how to care for this fine optical instrument. Read the instructions carefully before using your binocular.

EYE ADJUSTMENTS How to Adjust Inter-Pupillary Distance
The width between the eyes, called “interpupillary distance” (IPD), varies from person to person. To set the binocular for your eye spacing, follow these simple steps:
1. Hold your binocular normally, with the eyepieces close to your eyes.
2. Rotate (lightly push/pull) the swiveling eyepieces inward (closer together) or outward (further apart) (Fig. 1), until you see a single circular field when viewing through the binocular. Always re-set your binocular to this position before using it.
How to Adjust for Individual Eye Strength
As individual eyesight varies from one person to another, your Bushnell Spectator Sport Zoom binocular has a diopter adjustment dial, which allows you to fine-tune the binocular to your own vision. Follow the focusing instructions below.
FOCUSING
1. Adjust the IPD as described in “How to Adjust Inter-Pupillary Distance(Fig. 1) until you see a single
circular image.
2. The Diopter Adjustment Ring (Parts Guide, A) is located on the right side, directly below the eyecup.
3. Make sure the diopter adjustment is set to “zero” to start, by rotating the ring until the index arrow on the ring (Fig. 2, a) is pointing to the white “dot” mark between the “
+” and “--” diopter marks on the
binocular.
4. Keep both eyes open at all times.
5. Using the lens cap or your hand, cover the objective (front) lens of the right side of
the binocular.
6. Using the central Focus Knob (B), focus on a distant object with fine detail (e.g.,
(Fig. 1)
a
b
(Fig. 2)

brick wall, tree branches, etc.), until it appears as sharp as possible through the left side of the binocular.
7. Uncover the objective lens on the right side, then cover the left objective lens, and view the same object.
8. Rotate the diopter adjustment ring to focus the same distant object in the right side. Avoid over turning or forcing the diopter mechanism-if you are unable to bring the object into focus with the diopter adjustment, make sure the left side is still focused correctly with the center knob. The diopter adjustment only affects the right side.
9. Your binocular should now be adjusted for your eyes. Focusing for any distance can now be done simply by turning the center focus knob. Make a note of the diopter setting for your eyesight (how far the index arrow is now in the “
+” or “--” direction)
for future reference.
USING THE ZOOM
The Spectator Sport Zoom allows you to zoom from a standard binocular power with a view magnified by 8x, up to a highly magnified 24x image (objects appear 24 times closer). Simply slide the Zoom Lever (C) from “8x” on the Zoom Scale (D) to “24x”, or stop at any setting in between, choosing the viewing power or magnification you prefer for your subject. Note: if you focus the binocular with the zoom set to 24x, there will be less need
to refocus when “zooming down” to lower power settings. Zooming from low to high power will typically require some re-adjustment of the focus knob.
EYECUP ADJUSTMENT
Your Bushnell Spectator Sport Zoom binocular is fitted with Twist-up Eyecups
(E)
designed for your comfort and to exclude extraneous light. For users without eyeglasses, rotate the eyecups counter-clockwise until they lock into the fully “up” position. If you wear glasses, make sure the eyecups are in the fully down position- this will bring your eyes closer to the binocular lens, allowing you to see the full field of view. To lower the eyecups from the full “up” position, rotate them clockwise. It is also possible to set the eyecups to a middle position “in between” fully up and fully down, which may suit some individuals better.
NECKSTRAP
To attach the neckstrap, thread the ends of the neckstrap through the strap lugs (Fig. 2, b) on each side of the binocular, then back through the plastic buckle. Adjust the position
of the binoculars on your chest as they hang around your neck to your preference by changing the length of the strap portion which passes through the lug and buckle by an equal amount on each side.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE
Your Bushnell Spectator Sport Zoom binocular will provide years of trouble-free service if it receives the normal care you would give any fine optical instrument.
• Avoid banging and dropping.
• Store in a cool, dry place.
LENS CLEANING
To clean the optics of your binocular without risk of scratching the glass or damaging the anti-reflective coatings, follow these steps:
1. Blow away any dust or debris on the lenses, using a soft, clean lens brush.
2. After loose dust/debris has been removed, remove skin oil or finger prints if
necessary by breathing on the lens and wiping off the condensation with a microfiber cloth, rubbing gently in a circular motion. Use of a coarse textured/soiled cloth (shirt tail, paper towel, etc.) or unnecessary rubbing may scratch the lens surface and eventually cause permanent damage.
3. If a more thorough cleaning is needed, photographic lens tissue and photographictype lens cleaning fluid or isopropyl (not rubbing) alcohol may be used. Always apply the fluid to the cleaning cloth – never directly on the lens.
