The birth of a new Legend.
The latest generation of Bushnell’s Legend binocular is now represented by three distinct series of optics, each with an unmatched price/performance ratio. All three lines, beginning with the Legend E Series, share a range of outstanding features :
• Magnesium Chassis- extremely strong yet lightweight.
• Rainguard®HD- Bushnell’s exclusive hydrophobic lens coating
provides a clear view even in the worst conditions. And of course, all Legend binoculars are waterproof/ fogproof.
• BaK-4 Prisms, PC3 Phase Coating, Fully Multi-coated Optics
with Lead Free Glass- using the nest available glass and
multiple layers of anti-reective coatings ensures that the image you view will be as bright and sharp as possible, while helping to preserve the outdoor environment we all cherish.
• Precise, Rugged Construction and Mechanical Details- diopter rings with ne click adjustments, an improved eyecup design and tethered objective lens covers accommodate a wide range of users while increasing convenience.
The L Series Legends add to this impressive list, incorporating high density ED Prime Glass to provide even more detailed resolution and color quality, and a lockable diopter adjustment. The M Series oers all the technology and features of the E and L Series in an open bridge design, along with Dielectric Prism Coatings to deliver 92% total light transmission, and represents our nest Legend binocular to date in terms of both ergonomics and image quality.

Ultra Wide Band Coating. An anti-reection
coating process that is customized for every lens element in the optical path, maximizing light transmission and color accuracy. The result? Optimum brightness and true color viewing across the full light spectrum.
Rainguard® HD. This patented*, permanent, water-repellent coating causes moisture from rain, snow, sleet or condensation to bead up and scatter less light, so you get a clear, bright view when other optics would be rendered useless.
ED Prime Glass. ED Prime Extra-Low Dispersion uorite glass delivers amazing color resolution and contrast, and virtually eliminates chromatic aberration and colorfringing to bring out the most distinct details possible in low-light conditions (L/M Series only).
Dielectric Prism Coating. A highly reective back coating utilized to maximize light transmission across the full visible range of the spectrum through the binocular’s roof prism array (M Series only).

Thank you for purchasing your new Bushnell Legend Series E, Series L or Series M binoculars. This manual will help you optimize your viewing experience by explaining how you can adjust the binocular to your eyes, and how to care for this instrument. Read the instructions carefully before using your binocular.
BASIC ADJUSTMENTS
How to Adjust for Distance Between Your Eyes
The distance between the eyes, called “interpupillary distance,” varies from person to person. To achieve perfect alignment of lens to eyes, follow these simple steps:
1. Hold your binocular in the normal viewing position.
2. Grasp each barrel rmly. Move the barrels closer together or further apart (Fig. 1) until you see a single circular eld. Always reset your binocular to this position before using it.
How to Adjust for Individual Eye Strength
As individual eyesight varies from one person to another, your Bushnell Legend binocular has a diopter adjustment which allows you to ne-tune the binocular to your vision. Follow the focusing instructions on the next page.
Using the Objective Lens Covers
When using your Legend binoculars, ip open the objective lens covers as shown at right. To prevent accidental loss, the covers are tethered to (removable) rubber security rings. When you are nished using the binoculars, put the covers back in place to protect the binocular’s lenses.

FOCUSING/DIOPTER ADJUSTMENT
1. Adjust the interpupillary distance (Fig. 1) until you see a single circular image.
2. The diopter adjustment ring is located directly below the right eyecup.
(Legend Series L and M only): unlock the diopter adjustment before adjusting it, by pulling the ring straight up (Fig. 2). This may be easier if you twist the right eyecup up rst (if you wear glasses, you can return the eyecup to the down position after unlocking the diopter ring).
3. Start with the diopter adjustment set to “zero” (red index mark on diopter ring is lined up with line between plus and minus marks on binocular). Keep both eyes open at all times.
4. Using the attached lens cap or your hand, cover the objective (front) lens on the right side of the binocular as you look into the eyepieces.
5. Using the center focus knob, focus on a distant object with ne detail (e.g., brick wall, tree branches, etc) until it appears as sharp as possible on the left side.
6. Uncover the objective lens on the right side, and cover the left objective lens while continuing to view the same object.
7. Rotate the diopter adjustment ring to bring the object into focus in the right side of the binocular. Avoid over-turning or forcing the diopter mechanism. If you are unable to bring the object into focus in the right side by adjusting the diopter ring, make sure the left side is still focused and that the center focus knob was not moved from its original setting (repeat steps #3-6 if necessary). The diopter adjustment only aects the right side.
8. (Legend Series L and M only): once the diopter ring is set for your eyesight,
push the adjustment ring back down to lock it in place (Fig. 3).

9. Your binocular should now be adjusted for your eyes. Focusing for any distance can now be done simply by turning the center focus knob. Make a note of your diopter setting (position of the diopter adjustment ring’s index mark) for future reference.
EYECUP ADJUSTMENT (Fig. 4 and 5)
Your Bushnell Legend binocular is tted with twist-up eyecups designed for your comfort and to exclude extraneous light. For users without eyeglasses, twist the eyecups up, rotating the eyecups counter-clockwise until they lock into the fully “up” position (Fig. 4). If you wear glasses, make sure the eyecups are in the down position- this will bring your eyes closer to the binocular lens, allowing you to see the full eld of view. To lower the eyecups from the full “up” position, rotate them clockwise (Fig. 5). The eyecups may also be set to a position midway between fully up and fully down, which may suit some individuals better.
NECKSTRAP ATTACHMENT (Fig. 6 and 7)
To attach the neckstrap, thread the ends of the neckstrap through the strap channel (Fig. 6) on each side of the binocular (start at the bottom of the channel and push the strap up through the top as shown), then back through the plastic buckle on the strap (Fig. 7). Adjust the position of the binoculars on your chest as they hang around your neck to your preference, by changing the length of the strap section which passes through the strap channel and buckle by an equal amount on each side.

TRIPOD SOCKET (Fig. 8)
To attach the Legend to a tripod or monopod, unscrew (counterclockwise) the “B” logo cap which covers the threaded socket at the far end of the center hinge (Fig. 8), and set it aside in a safe place. Use a compatible binocular tripod adapter accessory, such as the Bushnell model #161001CM (see below), to attach your Legend to any standard tripod in a horizontal position to provide a stable image during prolonged viewing.
WATERPROOF / FOGPROOF
Your Bushnell Legend binocular has been designed and built utilizing the latest waterproof and fogproof technology. The binoculars are O-ring sealed for complete moisture protection. Fogproof protection is achieved from dry nitrogen purging that removes all internal moisture. Bushnell’s patented Rainguard® HD lens coating prevents external fogging, for a clear view even in poor weather.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE
Your Bushnell Legend binocular will provide years of trouble-free service if it receives the normal care you would give any ne optical instrument.
1. Avoid sharp impacts. Set the binocular down gently on hard surfaces.
2. Tug on the strap after attaching it to make sure it is securely fastened to the binocular before placing it around your neck.
3. Store your binocular in a cool, dry place whenever possible.
CLEANING
1. First, blow or brush away any dust or debris on the lens (using “canned air” or a soft lens brush).
2. To remove dirt or nger prints, clean with the supplied soft storage bag (made of washable microber cloth), rubbing in a circular motion. Use of a coarse cloth (including paper towels) or unnecessary rubbing may scratch the lens surface and eventually cause permanent damage. The included storage bag/micro-ber cloth is ideal for the routine cleaning of your optics. Simply breathe lightly on the lens to provide a slight amount of moisture, then gently rub the lens with the micro-ber cloth.
3. For a more thorough cleaning, photographic lens tissue and photographic lens cleaning uid or isopropyl alcohol may be used. Never use household window cleaning liquids. Always apply the uid to the cleaning cloth – never directly on the lens.
NEVER LOOK DIRECTLY AT THE SUN WITH YOUR BINOCULAR, AS IT MAY CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO YOUR EYES

12
Traitement Ultra Wide Band.
