IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
All of the safety and operating instructions should be read, adhered to and followed
before the unit is operated.
Read these instructions. Keep these instructions. Heed all warnings. Follow all instructions. Do not use this apparatus near water. Clean only with a dry cloth. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the
manufacturer’s instructions. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves,
or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug.
A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding-
type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs,
convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
12. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.

13. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long
periods of time.

CAUTION
The apparatus should not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects
filled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on apparatus.
The main plug is used to disconnect the device if you do not want the unit
to remain readily operable. In order to disconnect the apparatus from the
main plug, it should be pulled from the socket completely.
Battery should not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine,
fire or the like.
Excessive sound pressure from earphones and headphones can cause hearing loss.
Special requirement for an apparatus (and remote control) used with a
replaceable lithium battery. The following warning statement should be close
to the battery or in both the instruction manual and the service instruction.

REMOTE BATTERY INSTALLATION
Remove the BATTERY COMPARTMENT cover, located on the back
of the remote control.
Insert 2 AAA batteries according to the polarity indicators inside the compartment.
Replace and secure the BATTERY COMPARTMENT cover.
CONNECTING THE MAIN UNIT
Connect the Power Adapter to the DC jack on the back of the unit and then plug the Power Adapter into an electrical outlet.
DOCKING YOUR iPod
1. Pull the 30-pin connector towards you until it locks into position (see illustration on the following page).
2. Insert your iPod/iPhone.
3. Push back on iPod/iPhone until it rests on the backrest.
4. “Accessory Connected” will appear on your iPod/iPhone screen.

For iPod 4th Gen and 5th Gen nano: “Attached to Accessory” For iPod classic: “OK to Disconnect” For iPod touch/iPhone: “Accessory Connected” (it may be necessary to press
“iPod” on the iPhone or “Music” or “Video” on the iPod touch to activate the “Accessory Connected” screen)
5. Your iPod/iPhone will charge when docked into the speaker in “Power On” and “Standby Mode."
Note: If the remote to speaker response seems very slow, other wireless products in the area may be causing interference. The remote can be manually
synced to the speaker to try and find a clearer channel. See pages 18-19 for
manual sync instructions.

Helpful Hint: To resume playback after docking the iPod/iPhone or turning the speaker on, press PLAY/PAUSE on the remote or use the UP/ DOWN buttons to highlight

on the speaker.
From the Main Menu screen on the remote,
use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight
and press the SEL button. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight and press the SEL button to scroll between
Flat, Movie, Pop, Jazz and Rock EQ settings.
Or use the EQ button on the speaker to scroll
between Flat, Movie, Pop, Jazz and Rock EQ
settings. Choice will display on remote under
EQ settings.
Note: Press the MENU button on the remote to return to the previous menu at any time.
Change the Light Bar brightness setting
on the speaker.
Use the LIGHT button on the speaker to scroll between
Off, Dim, Normal and Bright Light Bar settings.
Or from the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight and press the SEL button. Use the UP/DOWN
buttons to highlight and press the SEL button to scroll between Off, Dim, Normal and Bright Light Bar settings.

Set the Sleep Timer on the speaker.
From the Main Menu screen on the remote, use the UP/DOWN buttons to highlight and press the SEL button to scroll between
15 min, 30 min, 45 min, 60 min, or Off.
Note: Press the Menu button on the remote
to return to the previous menu at any time.
Manually sync the remote and speaker.
Turn speaker on.
Dock iPod/iPhone.
Confirm iPod/iPhone is connected to speaker (the iPod/iPhone “Accessory Connected” screen will display).

Make sure the remote is close to and pointed
directly at the front of the speaker.

8. Release the CONNECT button and press SEL on the remote once (these instructions are also on the remote screen). During the Sync mode,
the blue LED will continue to flash and “Sync in progress” will be on the remote screen. Keep the
remote close to and pointed directly at the front of the speaker. The Sync mode may take several seconds. When the Sync process is complete,
the blue LED will stop flashing but remain lit and “Sync Complete” will appear on the remote.
The remote and iPod/iPhone are now synced.
Note: When the speaker is searching for the remote or if there is no signal, the LED
on the front of the speaker will blink slowly.

Note: The remote will not control the alternate audio source.

TROUBLESHOOTING
Sound is not clear or there is no sound.
Check the cable or iPod/iPhone connection.
No power to speaker. Check the power adaptor and cable.
No display shows on the remote.
Check and replace the batteries in the remote.
Sound is too faint/too
much distortion.
Press the volume button to adjust sound level.
Adjust the volume of connected music device.
Unit does not respond to the Remote Control.
Move the Remote Control closer to the Speaker.
ISSUE SOLUTION
Docked iPod will not play
movies/videos on its screen while attached to the speaker.
Movies/videos can only be viewed using a
TV when the iPod is attached to the speaker
(see pages 21-26).
The remote’s batteries are low. Replace the
remote’s batteries.

Docked iPod touch or iPhone
is not showing the “Accessory
Connected” screen.
Press “iPod” on the iPhone or “Music” or “Video” on the iPod touch to activate
“Accessory Connected” screen.
Try removing and re-docking the iPod
touch or iPhone.
Cannot access
“Camera Videos”
on 5th gen nano
using the speaker.
In order to view camera videos on a 5th gen nano on your TV using the speaker, your camera videos must be manually moved to Movies:
1. Connect your iPod to your computer.
2. Access the DCIM folder on your iPod.
3. Locate your camera videos.
4. Import your camera videos to iTunes
and sync your iPod.
5. Refer to pages 21-26 to play your videos
on your TV using the speaker.
There is a “This accessory is
not made to work with iPhone” warning on the iPhone when docked in the speaker.
The speaker needs a few seconds to
authenticate the iPhone. Try removing and re-docking the iPhone if the warning does not disappear after a few seconds.

iPod /iPhone is docked but there is a “Device Not Found” or
“No Signal” error on the remote
screen.
Let the iPod/iPhone charge for a few minutes and then remove and re-dock the iPod/iPhone.
“Failed to Sync” error appears on
remote when manually syncing
the remote.
Make sure blue LED on the front of the speaker is flashing and the remote is close to and pointing directly at the front of the speaker while sync is in progress.
A clearer channel cannot be found.
Movie is not displaying on TV.
Confirm video cable is connected to the correct jacks on the speaker.
Confirm correct Video Out cable type is selected under “iPod Settings.”
Confirm correct TV Signal type is selected under “iPod Settings.”
If the movie was started before the video cable type was selected in “iPod Settings,” the movie may need to be restarted.

ONE (1) YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
Brookstone® warrants this product against defects in materials and/or workmanship under normal use for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of purchase by the original purchaser (“Warranty Period”). If a defect arises and a valid claim is received within the Warranty Period, at its option, Brookstone will either 1) repair the defect at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, or 2) replace the product with a new product that is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or
3) provide a store credit in the amount of the purchase price of the original product. A replacement product or part, including a user-installable part installed in accordance with instructions provided by Brookstone, assumes the remaining warranty of the original product. When a product or part is exchanged, any replacement item becomes your property and the replaced item becomes Brookstone’s property. When a store credit is given, the original product must be returned to Brookstone and becomes Brookstone’s property.
Obtaining Service: To obtain warranty service, call Brookstone Limited Warranty Service at 1-800-292-9819. Please be prepared to describe the product that needs service and the nature of the problem. A purchase receipt is required. All repairs and replacements must be authorized in advance. Service options, parts availability and response times will vary. You are responsible for delivery and the cost of delivery of the product or any parts to the authorized service center for replacement, per our instructions.
Limits and Exclusions:
Coverage under this Limited Warranty is limited to the United States of America, including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This Limited Warranty applies only to products manufactured for Brookstone that can be identified by the “Brookstone” trademark, trade name, or logo affixed to them or their packaging. The Limited Warranty does not apply to any non-Brookstone products. Manufacturers or suppliers other than Brookstone may provide their own warranties to the purchaser,

but Brookstone, in so far as permitted by law, provides these products “as is.” This warranty does not apply to: a) damage caused by failure to follow instructions relating to product’s use or the installation of components; b) damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse, fire, floods, earthquake or other external causes; c) damage caused by service performed by anyone who is not a representative of Brookstone; d) accessories used in conjunction with a covered product; e) a product or part that has been modified to alter functionality or capability; f) items intended to be periodically replaced by the purchaser during the normal life of the product including, without limitation, batteries or light bulbs; g) any product sold “as is” including, without limitation, floor demonstration models and refurbished items; or h) a product that is used commercially or for a commercial purpose.
BROOKSTONE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT, OR ARISING OUT OF ANY BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, BROOKSTONE DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL STATUTORY OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND WARRANTIES AGAINST HIDDEN OR LATENT DEFECTS. IF BROOKSTONE CANNOT LAWFULLY DISCLAIM STATUTORY OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, THEN TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALL SUCH WARRANTIES SHALL BE LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE DURATION OF THIS EXPRESS WARRANTY.
