Before you start using your Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair,
please read the operation manual thoroughly for the correct methods
of usage, especially taking note of the section on safety.
This manual should be kept on hand for easy reference. It is your
guide to safe and efficient operation.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair, basic precautions should
always be followed, including the following: Read all instructions before using the
Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair.

outlet immediately after using and before cleaning.
2. Never use pins or other metallic fasteners with this appliance.
3. Carefully examine the covering before each use. Call for service if the
covering shows any sign of deterioration, such as blistering, peeling or
cracking.
4. Keep dry – Do not operate in a wet or moist condition.

5. Do not carry this Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair by the power cord or
use cord as a handle.

7. Never operate the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair with the air openings
blocked. Keep the air openings free of lint, hair and the like.
8. Never drop or insert any object into any opening.
9. Do not use outdoors.
10. Do not operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where
oxygen is being administered.
11. To disconnect, turn all controls to the off position, then remove the plug
from the outlet.

while seated.
13. The product is not intended for use by children or persons with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction
concerning use of the product by a person responsible for their safety.

control setting. Do not use on an infant or invalid or on a sleeping or
unconscious person. Check the skin in contact with the heated area of the
appliance frequently to reduce the risk of blistering.

• Do not use the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair in a room with a

• Do not expose the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair to heaters, stoves or
direct sunlight.
• Place and use the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair on an even,
non-slip floor.
• The Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair is designed for home use and not
for commercial purposes.

• If you use the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair in a cold room, do
not increase the room temperature abruptly. It is recommended that
you increase the temperature gradually to a normal level.
• If the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair is stored in a cold place
and is being brought into a warm environment, it is advisable to wait
one hour before use. This is because its performance may not be at
optimum level, as there may be water droplets on the mechanical parts
due to condensation. Using the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair
under such conditions may result in malfunction.

not operate it without reading this operation manual carefully.
• Do not use the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair when the upholstery or
seat is removed. This may cause injury or malfunction.
• Do not use the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair in combination with other
therapeutic equipment or electric blanket, etc., as this may result in
ineffectiveness or injury.
• Do not use the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair an hour before or after
eating as this may have adverse effects on the user.
• Do not allow children or pets to play around the Brookstone RenewTM Massage
Chair, e.g., behind the backrest, under the seat or leg rest of the Brookstone
RenewTM Massage Chair. This may result in injury.
• Do not rest or place heavy objects on the armrests, leg rest or backrest as this
may result in malfunction or injury.
• Do not use the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair when your body is wet.
• Do not operate the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair with wet hands.
• It is not recommended to use the massage for more than 20 minutes.
• Do not perform continuous massage on the same spot of your body for more
than 5 minutes at a time as this may result in excessive stimulation and may
have adverse effects.
• Do not insert your hand or foot along the paths of the massage rollers during
use as this may cause injury.
• Stop operation immediately if you experience any discomfort.
• This product is not intended for self-treatment of conditions that should be
managed by a qualified health care provider.
• People on medication or with medical conditions, please consult your doctor
before use. Please do not use the product if you are not feeling well.
• Remove all scarves, neckties, necklaces and jewelry before using the massager.
3. People with Medical conditions
Consult your doctor before use if you:
• are under medical rest as ordered by a doctor.
• have spinal disorders, an abnormal spinal condition or have suffered a spinal
injury.
• have back problems
• have diabetes, osteoporosis or sensory impairment
• have joint dysfunction.

• have phlebitis or thrombosis.

back in as this may result in injury.
• Remove the power plug from the electrical outlet immediately should liquid
be accidentally spilled onto the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair. Do not
use wet hands to connect or disconnect the power plug from the electrical
outlet.
• Do not tamper with the power cord or use the Brookstone RenewTM Massage
Chair with a damaged cord asthis may result in malfunction and electric shock.

4. Instances when the Brookstone Renew
be used
In the following events, please switch off the main power switch immediately and
disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet:
• If water is accidentally spilled onto the Brookstone Renew
This may result in electric shock or malfunction
• If the fabric of the backrest is torn and the internal components are exposed.
• If pain or discomfort is felt during massage, stop operation immediately and
consult your doctor.
• If you detect any malfunction or any other abnormal condition during operation.
• If there is a power failure. Injury may occur when power is restored
unexpectedly.
• If there is lightning.
5. Assembly and repair of the Brookstone Renew
• Do not disassemble the backrest cover of the Brookstone Renew
Chair. Touching the internal components may result in malfunction or electric
shock.

6.Things to note about the power plug and cord
• Check that the Alternating Current (AC) voltage corresponds with the
specification indicated for the Brookstone Renew
• Do not connect or disconnect the power plug from the electrical outlet with
wet hands. This may result in malfunction or electric shock.
• When disconnecting the power plug, pull it by holding the plug, not the cord.
• Although operation will be stopped automatically by the Auto-Timer function,
always remember to switch off the main power switch after use.
• Do not place the power cord under the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair
or any other heavy objects.
• Do not wind the power cord around the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair
as this may damage the cord and result in a fire or electric shock.
• Do not operate the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair with a damaged cord
or extension cord.
• Do not use the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair if the electrical outlet is
loose.
• If the power cord is damaged, it should be replaced by a qualified technician.
7.Grounding instructions
This product must be grounded. If it should malfunction or break down,
grounding provides a path of least resistance for the electric current to reduce
the risk of electric shock. This product is equipped with a cord or an equipmentgrounding conductor and a grounding plug. The plug must be plugged into an
appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all
local codes and ordinances.

DANGER – Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can
result in a risk of electric shock. Check with a qualified electrician or service
technician if you are in doubt as to whether the product is properly grounded. Do
not modify the plug provided with the product – if it will not fit the outlet, have a

This product is for use on a nominal 120V circuit and has a grounding plug that
looks like the plug illustrated below. Make sure the product is connected to an
outlet having the same configuration as the plug. No adapter should be used
with this product.

Preparation before use
Sitting on the Brookstone RenewTM
Massage Chair
• The rollers are usually stored in the
upper part of the backrest. This
position is known as the “storage
position”.
• If the rollers are not in the storage
position, simply reset by pressing
the power button on the controller
before sitting on the massage
chair.
Caution
• Do not sit down on the chair with
the leg rest raised. Any sudden
heavy weight on the leg rest could
cause damage to the mechanism,
or it may result in accident or injury
if the chair tips over.
• Ensure that the backrest returns to
the upright position before sitting
on the chair, then recline it to your
preference.
Raising and lowering the foot rest
The foot rest can be raised independently
for additional benefit.
• To raise the foot rest, press and hold
the foot rest button
▲ until the foot
rest is at the desired angle.
• To lower the foot rest, press and hold
the foot rest button ▼ until the foot
rest is at the desired angle.
Foot rest extension and retraction
• Raise the foot until your feet are
placed at a natural position.
• Stretch your feet to a comfortable
position. The foot rest will retract
or extend and stop at an
appropriate position.
To use the heat function
• Press heat button to turn on / off
the lumbar heat function.
One touch to Zero Gravity
• Simply press the Zero Gravity
button once, to recline to Zero
Gravity position.
How to recline the backrest
• To raise the backrest, push and
hold the

& Rocking motion for a more gentle massage. (20mins)
Sleep – Slower massage with Rolling & Kneading (no
Tapping) combined with air cells to help relax your body

You can adjust your desired shoulder position by

The massage progress is shown on the LCD display.
After the massage is complete, the rollers will return to
their storage position and the chair will return to the
Ready position.
NOTE: Display will go to “Idle” after 3 minutes. Press
any button once to wake it up. Pressing again activates
the command of that button.

Custom massage
You may select and combine your favorite massage areas by pressing the respective
custom area massage buttons.
Note
• Keep each massage session to no
longer than 20 minutes.
• Do not massage any particular area
of the body for more than 5 minutes.
Press Power button to switch on the controller.

Select ▲ or ▼ to adjust the foot rest independently

Select ▲ or ▼ to move the back rollers to your desired
position, or changes the roller direction.
Airbag Zone
Use to select where you would like the airbags to
massage. Each press of the button will show the
corresponding location on the LCD screen.

Allows you to adjust the intensity of the Airbag massage.
Each press of the button will change the intensity level :
One bar=Low; Two bars=Medium; Three bars=High
Massage programs and selections
Adjusting automatic programs, localized area programs or manual program settings
Speed button
Press to increase the speed of the massage rollers.
Each press will cycle through:
One bar = Slow; Two bars = Medium; Three bars = Fast
Target button
Targets a particular area for the rollers to focus on and
remain. Location will be shown on the LCD screen.
Timer button
Each press will add 5 minutes to your selected program
time. Up to a maximum of 15 additional minutes.
Zone button
Adjusts what areas you want to focus your massage.
Each press cycles through Back, Waist, Seat, Back &
Waist, Waist & Seat and Whole Body.
Width button
Press to adjust massage roller widths. Repeated
pressing will cycle through Narrow, Medium and Wide.
This function is not available in Kneading mode.
Pause button
Will temporarily pause all massage and pause functions.
Rollers will not return to their storage position. To
resume press Pause button again.
Zero Gravity button
This will recline the chair automatically to a Zero Gravity
position a second press will return chair to Ready
position.

Changing the massage program
You may change from one massage
program to another without having
to wait for a program to complete.
If you select a different program
when an auto program is running,
the rollers will return to the storage
position and begin the new program.
If you are running a manual program,
the rollers will continue moving up or
down and will not return to the
storage position.
Stopping a massage session
Press the Power button to stop all
massage functions. The rollers will
move back to the storage position
and all air bags will deflate, ending the
massage. Chair will return to Exit
position.
Hitting the current program button
again will end the program and return

Cleaning the Brookstone RenewTM
Massage Chair
• Before removing liners, ensure that
the main power switch is turned off
and the AC plug is disconnected from
the electrical outlet.
• Check the foot liners prior to every
use.
• To clean the liners, unzip from the
footrest and remove.
• Hand wash or wash in Gentle Cycle
• To prevent injury, do not continue to
use Brookstone RenewTM Massage
Chair / footrest until foot liners have
been placed back in the footrest.
• Return the liners to the footrest and
zip them in.

like benzene or thinner to clean the

Troubleshooting
If you encounter problems with operating the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair,
please check the following points to see if they can be rectified. If the Brookstone
RenewTM Massage Chair still malfunctions or does not work, please switch off the
Main Switch of the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair and remove the power plug
from the electrical outlet. Contact Brookstone Customer Service at 866-336-3199
for servicing.
Do not dismantle or attempt to repair the Brookstone RenewTM Massage Chair
yourself. Doing so will void the warranty and Brookstone will not bear any
responsibility for any subsequent consequences.
• Friction noise of rollers against

Chair for 30 to 50 minutes.
• Display screen goes to “Sleep” after 3 minutes to prevent

• Press any button and the screen will awaken.
• The remote is in idle mode. The 1st press awakens the
remote , the 2nd will activate the command. This is normal
if idle make in on.
• The remote may need to be rebooted. Turn off chair. Unplug
remote for 2 minutes and plug back in. Turn chair on and
press power button again.

use for a period of TWO (2) YEAR from the date of purchase by the original purchaser (“Warranty

or 2) replace the product with a new product that is at least functionally equivalent to the original

the problem. A purchase receipt is required. All repairs and replacements must be authorized in
advance. Service options, parts availability and response times will vary. You are responsible for
delivery and the cost of delivery of the product or any parts to the authorized service center for
replacement, per our instructions.
Limits and Exclusions: Coverage under this Limited Warranty is limited to the United States of
America, including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the
