7. The unit should be situated away from direct sunlight or heat sources such

amplifiers) that produce heat. Avoid placing on top of stereo equipment that
radiates heat.

Dispose of the old batteries properly. Do not dispose of the old batteries
in a fire.
Do not leave the batteries where a child or pet could play with or swallow
them. If the batteries are swallowed, contact a physician immediately.
The batteries may explode if mistreated. Do not attempt to recharge or
disassemble the batteries.
Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type. Do not mix old and
new batteries, different types of batteries, or rechargeable batteries of
different capacities.

InseRTInG The baTTeRIes
Remove the battery compartment cover by pushing the latch and lifting
the cover off.
Insert 3 AAA batteries according to the polarity indicators.
Replace the battery compartment cover by inserting the tabs into the slots
and snapping the latch securely back into place.
aboUT MoshI's voIce acTIvaTIon
When Moshi is plugged in using the included AC adapter, it will respond "voice
trigger mode is enabled." This will allow you to activate all the commands using
your voice. Please make sure the switch on the back is set to "IVR" mode.
When using battery power, move the switch to "Touch."
Note: When using the clock on battery power, the voice trigger mode is
disabled and the screen must be pressed to initially activate Moshi.

IllUMInaTIon
Moshi has alternating, illuminating color backgrounds for speaking and listening
when the NIGHT LIGHT S/M switch is in the M (multiple) position:
When Moshi is talking, the clock screen will illuminate in blue.
When Moshi is listening, the clock screen will illuminate in green.
Moshi's screen will display dark blue if the temperature is 59˚ F or below.
Moshi's screen will display light blue if the temperature is between 60˚ and 69˚ F.
Moshi's screen will display green if the temperature is between 70˚ and 89˚ F.
Moshi's screen will display red if the temperature is 90˚ F or above.
Note: Moshi's screen will illuminate the colors for different temperatures
only when you are asking Moshi for the temperature, not at all times.
The night light will alternate in 6 colors.
When the NIGHT LIGHT S/M switch is in the S (single) position,
the illumination will default to blue.

To activate Moshi, say "hello Moshi."
Moshi will respond "welcome, command please."
Note: If you are running on batteries, not AC power, press the CLOCK
SCREEN back to activate Moshi's voice command.
seTTInG The TIMe
After you activate Moshi:
Say "set time."
Moshi will respond "tell me the current time."
State the time in a clear voice. Example: "ten twenty two PM."
Moshi will then repeat the time back to you. Example: "the time is now
set to ten twenty two PM."

Moshi will respond "tell me the time you want the alarm to sound."
State the alarm time in a clear voice. Example: "six thirty AM."
Moshi will then repeat the alarm time back to you: "the alarm time
is now set to six thirty AM."

After you activate Moshi:
Say "alarm sound."
Moshi will respond "to choose an alarm sound, say alarm 1,
alarm 2 or alarm 3" giving an example of each alarm sound
after each numbered choice.
Say your choice. For example: "alarm 2."
Moshi will then play a short sample of the alarm sound you chose.

MANUAL FUNCTION ONLY
Press MODE until the date is visible on the CLOCK SCREEN.
Press SET, and Moshi will tell you the date for which the clock is currently set.
Moshi will stop on the year, which will flash. Press the + or — buttons
to reach the current year.
Press SET button to save your choice and Moshi will go to the month,
which will flash.
Press + or — buttons to reach the current month.
Press SET to save, and Moshi will go to the day, which will flash.
Press the + or — buttons to reach the current day.
Press SET to save.
Note: You may also manually set the time and alarm by following the
steps above.

Say "time."
Moshi will respond by telling you the correct time.

After you activate Moshi:
Say "alarm."
Moshi will respond by telling you the current set alarm time and status.
TURnInG The alaRM on/off
Say "set alarm" to turn the alarm on.
The alarm will sound at the set time, gradually increasing in volume for one
minute, after which it will automatically snooze and ring again in 9 minutes.
Moshi will snooze 3 times and then automatically reset for the following day.
To turn off the alarm, when the alarm is sounding, say "turn off the alarm"
between alarm sound to shut off the alarm for the day.
Moshi will respond by telling you the time, date and current inside temperature.
To manually turn the alarm off, move the ALARM ON/OFF switch to off and
the alarm will not ring.
Note: When you turn off the alarm when it is sounding, Moshi will tell you the
time, date and inside temperature. When the alarm is not sounding, Moshi will
not speak.

snooze
When the alarm is ringing, press the CLOCK SCREEN back and Moshi will snooze
and ring again in 9 minutes.
Note: Moshi will snooze three times, then automatically reset to ring at the
same time the following day. To cancel the snooze mode (when the alarm is
not sounding) press the CLOCK SCREEN back and Moshi will reset for the
same time the following day.
sleeP soUnD
After you activate Moshi:
Say "sleep sound."
Moshi will respond "to choose a sleep sound, say sound 1, sound 2 or sound
3", giving an example of each sleep sound after each numbered choice.
Say your choice. For example: "sound 2."
Moshi will then play a short sample of the sleep sound you chose.
Your sleep sound is set!

Say "play sleep sound."
Moshi will play your previously selected sleep sound for 5 minutes.
To de-activate the sleep sound, press the CLOCK SCREEN back.

Say "today's date."
Moshi will respond by telling you today's date.
TeMPeRaTURe
After you activate Moshi:
Say "temperature."
Moshi will respond with the current inside temperature.
To change the temperature reading between Fahrenheit and Celsius:
Press the MODE button until the temperature is on the CLOCK SCREEN.
Press the SET button to toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
Simply stop on your choice, and Moshi will remember your preference.

After you activate Moshi:
Say "night light."
Moshi will light up, alternating between 6 colors when the NIGHT LIGHT S/M
switch is in the M position, or steady blue if the NIGHT LIGHT S/M switch is
in the S position, for a nice, night light glow.

1. My Moshi Alarm Clock does not hear my commands.
It is important to remember that you cannot give a command while
Moshi is speaking.
2. How do I know if the Moshi Alarm Clock is showing AM or PM time?
When clock is telling AM time there will be no icon on the display, but when in
PM time, the icon "PM" will appear in upper left corner. In addition, when setting
time, if you do not specify AM or PM, it will automatically set to AM time.
3. My Moshi Alarm Clock confuses numbers when setting the time or alarm.
This is common in the English language. For example, it is common to confuse
9 and 5. Try again, speak loud and clear.
4. I cannot set the date by voice.
Set the date on the bottom side of the clock (refer to page 12).
5. I cannot activate the alarm.
Verbally, say "set alarm" to turn the alarm on. To turn off or cancel the alarm,
say "turn off the alarm". Manually, you can turn the alarm on by the switch located
on the bottom side of the clock. The alarm icon on the display verifies that the
alarm is activated.
6. Can I make the alarm sound louder?
No, but the alarm volume does increase during the minute it is played.

7. How do I interrupt my Moshi Alarm Clock?
Touch display to stop Moshi from speaking. During the help menu you can
touch the display to stop it from speaking and then give a command.
8. How do I turn off the sleep sound?
Touch the display.
9. How do I snooze the alarm?
Touching the screen gives you a snooze time of 9 minutes. Or the alarm will
automatically snooze for 9 minutes if alarm is not turned off after a minute.
The only way to turn OFF the alarm is by giving the command, "Turn off
the Alarm."
10. Can I change temperature to Celsius?
When setting the date, you can choose Fahrenheit or Celsius
(refer to page 15).
11. How do I reset Moshi?
Remove batteries or use the reset button located on the bottom side.
12. Can Moshi listen to a command when the sleep sound is playing?
No, Moshi cannot listen to a command when the sleep sound is playing.
The sleep sound will turn off automatically after five minutes or by pressing
the display.

Brookstone® warrants this product against defects in materials and/or workmanship
under normal use for a period of ONE (1) YEAR from the date of purchase by the
original purchaser (“Warranty Period”). If a defect arises and a valid claim is received
within the Warranty Period, at its option, Brookstone will either 1) repair the defect
at no charge, using new or refurbished replacement parts, or 2) replace the product
with a new product that is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or
3) provide a store credit in the amount of the purchase price of the original product.
A replacement product or part, including a user-installable part installed in accordance
with instructions provided by Brookstone, assumes the remaining warranty of the
original product. When a product or part is exchanged, any replacement item becomes
your property and the replaced item becomes Brookstone’s property. When a store
credit is given, the original product must be returned to Brookstone and becomes
Brookstone’s property.
Obtaining Service:
To obtain warranty service, call Brookstone Limited Warranty Service at
1-800-292-9819. Please be prepared to describe the product that needs service and
the nature of the problem. A purchase receipt is required. All repairs and replacements
must be authorized in advance. Service options, parts availability and response times
will vary. You are responsible for delivery and the cost of delivery of the product or any
parts to the authorized service center for replacement, per our instructions.
Limits and Exclusions:
Coverage under this Limited Warranty is limited to the United
States of America, including the District of Columbia and the U.S. Territories of
Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This Limited Warranty applies only
to products manufactured for Brookstone that can be identified by the “Brookstone”
trademark, trade name, or logo affixed to them or their packaging. The Limited
Warranty does not apply to any non-Brookstone products. Manufacturers or
suppliers other than Brookstone may provide their own warranties to the purchaser,

but Brookstone, in so far as permitted by law, provides these products “as is.”
This warranty does not apply to: a) damage caused by failure to follow instructions
relating to product’s use or the installation of components; b) damage caused by
accident, abuse, misuse, fire, floods, earthquake or other external causes; c) damage
caused by service performed by anyone who is not a representative of Brookstone;
d) accessories used in conjunction with a covered product; e) a product or part
that has been modified to alter functionality or capability; f) items intended to be
periodically replaced by the purchaser during the normal life of the product including,
without limitation, batteries or light bulbs; g) any product sold “as is” including, without
limitation, floor demonstration models and refurbished items; or h) a product that is
used commercially or for a commercial purpose.
BROOKSTONE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL
DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE USE OF THIS PRODUCT, OR ARISING
OUT OF ANY BREACH OF THIS WARRANTY. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY
APPLICABLE LAW, BROOKSTONE DISCLAIMS ANY AND ALL STATUTORY OR
IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, WARRANTIES
OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND
WARRANTIES AGAINST HIDDEN OR LATENT DEFECTS. IF BROOKSTONE
CANNOT LAWFULLY DISCLAIM STATUTORY OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, THEN
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ALL SUCH WARRANTIES SHALL BE
LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE DURATION OF THIS EXPRESS WARRANTY.
Some states disallow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages
or how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above exclusions or limitations may not
apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other
