For mobile home installations, th ese water heaters must be installed in accordance w it h Section 3 2 80 . 7 09 of HUD Mobile Home Construct ion and Safet y St andards for Installation of A ppliances.

This w ater heater has been designed and certif ied f or t he purpose of heat ing pot able w ater. The installation and use of t his wat er heater fo r any purpose ot her than t he heating of pot able w at er, may cause dam age t o t he w at er heater and creat e a hazardous condition and nullify t he warranty.
Do not use this appliance if any part has been submerged in w ater. The plumbing prof essional responsible for t he installation of this w at er heater should be cont act ed t o inspect t he appliance and to replace any part of the c ont rol syst em, including t hermost at, which has been submerged in water.

INSTALLATION

Locating the Wat er Heat er
injury, there shall be no materials stored against the water heater and proper care shall be taken to avoid unnecessary contact (especially by children) with the water heater.

This wat er heater shall NOT be inst alled in any locat ion whe re gasoline or flammable vapors are likely to be present , unless the inst allation is such to e liminat e the probable ignit ion of gasoline or f lamma ble va pors.
The location t his wat er heater is to be installed is of utmost im port ance. Bef o r e i nst alling t his water heat er, consult the installation sect ion of these instruc t ions. A f ter reading t hese installation and operating inst ruc t ions, selec t a l o c ati o n fo r th e water h eater w her e th e fl o or i s l evel an d i s easi l y accessible to a power supply and wat er connect ions. It is recomm ended that t h e w ater heater b e l o c ated n ear th e c en ter of g r eatest h o t water u sag e to prevent heat loss t hrough t he pipes.
DO NOT locate t he wat er heater w here w at er lines could be subjected t o freezing temperatures. Locate the wat er heater so that access panels and drain valves are accessible.

Locating The Wat er Heat er cont inued-
Some models are not equipped w it h a drain valve. For t hose models, in st al l a dr ain tee in th e c ol d w ater i n let as c l os e as pr ac tic al to th e water heater .
Wat er heat er corrosion and component f ailure can be c aused by t he heat ing and breakdow n of airborne chemical vapors. Examples of some t ypical compounds t hat are potentially corrosive are: spray can propellants, cleaning solvents, refrigerator and air conditioning refrigerants, sw im ming pool chemicals, calcium or sodium chloride, wax es and pr oc es s c hem i cal s. T hes e mater ial s ar e c or ro sive at v er y lo w concent ration levels w it h lit t le or no odor t o reveal their presence.

W hen such locations cannot be avoided, a suitable drain pan must be installed under t he wat er heater . The drain pan must have a minimum length and w idth of at least 4 in . (10 .2 c m ) g reater th an th e di am eter o f th e wat er heater . The drain pan, as described abov e, can be purchased f rom your plumbing prof essional. The drain pan must be piped to an adequat e drain. The piping must be pit ched f or proper drainage.
CLEARANCES
1. Minimum clearanc e to c ombust ible material is 0 inches f or t he Top,
Sides, Front, and Rear of this w at er heater. Ho wever , i t is recommended t hat at least 1 8 inches (4 5.7 cm) f rom t he Top, and 2 4 inche s (6 1 c m) from t he Front . Clear anc e fo r ser v i ci n g m ay b e reduced down to minimum c learanc e to c ombust ible material, but serv i c e t i m e and effo rt m ay b e gr eatly in creased.
2. Inc r ease di stan c es to p r ov i de c l earan c es for serv ic i ng . To comply with NSF requirem ents t his w at er heat er is to be:
a) Sealed to the floo r w i t h seal ant, in a sm oo th and easi ly c l eanab le
way , or
b) Installed w it h an opt ional leg kit t hat includes legs and/or
ext ensions that provide a minimum clearance of 6 ’’ beneath the water heater .
Note: For California ins tallation this water heater must be braced, anchored, or strapped to avoid falling or moving during an earthquake.

Your w at er supplier or local plumbing inspec t or should be cont act ed on how to cont rol t his sit uation.
