When you switch on your device for the first time (or after performing a factory reset), you will
have to set the language and the time zone, and connect to a Wi-Fi network for activation.
The device activation process is required in order to enable some services, such as the use
of dictionaries and OTA (Over the Air) updates.
It can be activated at a later stage by tapping Activate device in the Store or Settings, or via
the Library by tapping the Synchronise button.
Afterward, your device can be linked with the Store by creating a new account or using an
existing one. Only an email address and password are needed for this process. You will be
asked to enter details of a bank card, however, this step may be omitted.

Getting Started
Charging the device
Your Cervantes 4 contains a rechargeable 1500 mAh Li-ion battery (non-removable), which
is charged by connecting a USB cable to a computer or power socket.
To charge the battery via a computer, connect your ereader to it using the supplied USB
cable. Charging speed is greater if the device is connected to a power supply rather than a
computer.
To charge the battery via a mains adapter, connect the micro-USB end of the cable to the
device and the USB end to the AC/DC adapter, then plug the adapter into the socket.
The battery icon is located at the top of the screen. It shows the device’s charge status.
Flat battery.
Charging battery.
Battery charged.
The bar indicates the remaining charge.
A full charge is recommended when this is done for the first time. This will help calibrate the battery
meter. Note that some batteries perform better after completing a number of charge cycles. The time
required to charge your device can vary markedly depending on whether it is charged via a mains
adapter or a computer USB port.
To optimally charge the device we recommend using a 5 V 1 A charger.
The battery in your Cervantes 4 is non-removable. Removal by anyone other than our Technical Support
personnel may damage the device and invalidate the Warranty.

Maintaining the battery
Although the battery’s capacity decreases with use, its service life can be lengthened by
observing the following recommendations:
· Use the device at least once a week.
· Fully charge the battery on a regular basis. Never leave the battery totally flat for a
prolonged period of time.
· Keep the device and the battery away from heat sources at all times.
If the ereader only works when it is connected to the power supply, contact the retailer in
order to change the battery.
Transferring files
Files, such as books and documents, can be transferred between a microSD card and your
computer, allowing these to be saved on either of the two.
Follow these steps:
1. Insert the microSD card into the ereader as shown in the Inserting and Removing the MicroSD
Card section.
2. Connect the micro-USB end of the cable to the device and the USB end to the
computer. Tap Accept when the following text appears: Do you want to enable mass
storage mode? The device will be temporarily inoperative.
3. The computer will recognise the internal memory and/or microSD card as Removable
drives.
4. Copy the desired files from the computer to the microSD card and/or internal memory,
or vice versa.
5. Once done copying, safely remove the device from the computer and disconnect the
USB cable from the ereader and computer. The copied documents will be automatically
classified in your Library.
Do not remove the microSD card or unplug the cable while files are being transferred.

Getting Started
Inserting and Removing the MicroSD Card
The memory of your Cervantes 4 can be expanded to 32 GB using a microSD card.
To insert a microSD card, follow these steps:
1. Ensure the pins face downward and point toward the screen, as shown in the diagram:
2. Push the card in until you hear a slight click, which indicates that it has been inserted
correctly. If it is not inserted correctly the device may not recognise it and its contents
will not be accessible.
To remove the microSD card, follow the steps in the previous section in reverse order while
taking into consideration a few important points:
a. For extra security we recommend the device be switched off before removing the
microSD card.
b. To remove it while the device is switched on and connected to a computer, first
“safely remove” the card to avoid damaging it and losing data.
MicroSD and microSDHC cards are compatible with this device.
You can choose whether to store your multimedia files in your ereader’s internal memory or directly
to the external microSD card. Note that any content stored on the external card will not be available
when it is removed.

· If you regularly use medical equipment, make sure it is protected against radio frequency
interference. If you use a hearing aid, consult the manufacturer with regard to potential
interference.
· In potentially explosive environments, switch the device off. Always observe regulations,
instructions and warning signs .
· Do not use the device in refuelling areas (petrol stations) or close to flammable and/or
explosive chemical products .
· Do not store or transport flammable liquids, gases or explosive materials in the same
compartment as the device or any of its parts or accessories .
· Switch off the device upon boarding an aeroplane. The electronic components of a motor
vehicle may malfunction as a result of radio frequency interference from the device.
· Avoid placing the device near the abdominal and genital area, especially in the case of
children, adolescents and pregnant women .
· Wi-Fi (WLAN). Wi-Fi (WLAN). This device operates on the 2.4 GHz band and it can be used
in all European countries as well as Russia. Consult your device’s Wi-Fi frequency bands in
the product specifications.
· Antenna: Use of the device with an antenna other than that supplied by Mundo Reader,
S.L. may damage it, impair its performance and generate SAR levels (see Appendix C)
that exceed the limits established by law. Do not cover the antenna with your hand.

Appendices
· As this is a high-technology device, extreme climatic conditions have a negative impact
on its operation. We advise against using it in ambient temperatures under 0 ºC or above
45 ºC. Doing so may cause malfunctioning or damage to the device (or even explosions in
more extreme cases). It is also inadvisable to use it continually at the limits of this range
or in adverse climatic conditions as this may cause performance drops that temporarily
affect device functionality and battery life.
Warning!
This product must be used with a power supply that has, as a minimum, the following specifications:
OUTPUT: 5V 500mA. Recommended: 5V 1A
Connection: MicroUSB
The use of a power supply other than the one indicated may damage your device and pose a risk to the
safety of people and property.
Appendix C: Information on exposure to radio waves and SAR (Specific
Absorption Rate).
The design of this ereader complies with the current regulations governing exposure to radio
waves. These regulations are based on scientific guidelines that include safety margins
designed to ensure the safety of everyone, regardless of age or state of health.
The guidelines on exposure to radio waves use a unit of measurement known as the SAR
(Specific Absorption Rate). SAR tests are carried out using standardised methods, with the
ereader transmitting at the highest certified level of power on all the frequency bands it
uses.
The maximum SAR level recommended by the ICNIRP (International Commission on Non
Ionizing Radiation Protection) is 2 W/kg, measured on 10 grams of tissue.
The highest SAR value for this ereader is:
Cervantes 4
When used in direct contact with the body1,71 W/Kg (10 g)
This device complies with the guidelines on exposure to radio frequency when it is used
next to the body.

Anexo D: Información sobre la potencia máxima de transmisión y banda de
frecuencia.
To access a Wi-Fi network, your device connects to a frequency band, that is, a frequency
range in the electromagnetic spectrum. This device complies with the 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) standard regarding maximum transmission power and frequency
bands. These are the limit values band in which the device operates:

Appendix E: Disposing of this product correctly.
(Electrical and electronic waste).
(Applicable within the European Union and in European countries with
selective waste collection systems).
The presence of this symbol on the product, accessories or accompanying informative
material indicates that, at the end of their service lives, neither the product nor its electronic
accessories (charger, cables, etc.) are to be disposed of with household waste.
To prevent any damage to the environment or human health, separate these products from
other types of waste and recycle them correctly. This encourages the sustainable reuse of
material resources and avoids the depletion of finite ones.
Private users should contact the establishment from which the product was acquired, or
the relevant local authorities, to find out how and where they can recycle this product safely
without harming the environment.
Business users should contact their supplier and consult the terms and conditions in the
purchase contract. This product and its electronic accessories must not be disposed of
with commercial waste.
