Description
The Lynnfield VR-MC center channel speaker delivers the wide-range response, high power-handling, high efficiency and placement flexibility required by the finest home theater systems. Its wide and even dispersion ensures that the sound will remain consistent and uniform for listeners throughout the room, assuring that everyone has the “best seat.”
Placement
Place the center channel speaker above or below the television monitor, as close as possible to the center of the screen. It is not necessary to angle the speaker to face the listeners. The speaker is magnetically shielded with MagnaGuard®and will not affect the television’s picture. Use the four self-adhesive rubber feet (provided) to protect the TV’s finish and reduce vibration.
Connection
WARNING: To prevent an electrical shock hazard, always switch off the amplifier or receiver when making
connections to the speaker.
We recommend 18-gauge, or thicker, wire for runs up to 25 feet (8m) and 16-gauge, or thicker, wire for longer runs. Separate the first few inches of the wire conductors. Strip off 1⁄2 inch (12mm) of insulation from the ends of each speaker wire to expose the two conductors and tightly twist the wire strands.

Setting Up Your Home Theater System
Volume levels: To obtain the best home theater effect, match the sound levels of each speaker. Home
theater systems include a test signal that simplifies this level matching. Refer to the instructions provided with your surround sound electronics.
Distance adjustment: Digital surround sound electronics permits the listener to adjust the relative timing of the center channel sound. This adjustment affects the quality of the front image of the system. Refer to the instructions provided with your surround sound electronics.
Bass management—speaker selection: Surround sound electronics provides adjustments or menus that permit the listener to direct bass signals to specific channels for the best effect. Generally, with all surround systems, the center channel mode should be set to SMALL. This setting will divert low bass to the front left and right speakers (which typically have greater bass capability than the center speaker) and will result in the greatest total system bass output. Also, if your system includes separate subwoofers, the SMALL setting ensures that the subwoofers will receive the most bass under all conditions.
Bass management— crossover frequency selection: Some surround sound electronics provides a choice of crossover frequencies (the frequency below which bass is diverted to the left, right, or subwoofer speakers). If a choice is provided, 80Hz will give the best overall results.
Systems with Dolby®Pro Logic®only: On older systems with Dolby Pro Logic only, use the NORMAL or SMALL settings for the center speaker. The PHANTOM setting, which presumes you do not have a center channel speaker, should not be used.
Maintenance
Care and cleaning: The VR-MC features a solid wood top and real wood veneer back and sides. Therefore,
treat it as you would any fine piece of furniture. Avoid harsh chemicals and ammonia-based cleaners and only use furniture polish or oil soap when necessary.
IMPORTANT: Typically, one side of the wire is smooth. Connect this side to the –(black) connection. The other side has a rib or stripe. Connect this to the + (red) connection.
Connect the speaker to the center front terminals of your surround sound receiver or amplifier.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to connect + to + (red) and to (black).
Using the five-way binding posts: The binding posts permit easy connection to banana
plugs, spade lugs and bare wire. The metal surfaces are plated with 24K gold to prevent corrosion. Insert the wire in the hole and tighten.

Listening Levels and Power-Handling
The power recommendation for the speaker assumes you will operate the amplifier in a way that will not produce distortion. Even rugged systems like the VR-MC can be damaged by an amplifier if it is
producing distortion.
If you hear a harsh, gritty noise, turn down the volume. Prolonged or repeated operation of your speaker with a distorted signal from the amplifier can cause damage that is not covered by the warranty.
Limited Warranty
For five years from the date of purchase, Boston Acoustics will repair for the original owner any defect in materials or workmanship that occurs in normal use of the speaker, without charge for parts and labor.
Your responsibilities are to use the system according to the instructions supplied, to provide safe and secure transportation to an authorized Boston Acoustics service representative, and to present proof of purchase in the form of your sales slip when requesting service.
Excluded from this warranty is damage that results from abuse, misuse, accidents, shipping, or repairs or modifications by anyone other than an authorized Boston Acoustics service representative.
This warranty is void if the serial number has been removed or defaced.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state.
