User instructions
Thank you for choosing a Blaupunkt product. We hope you enjoy using this new piece of equipment.
Please read these operating instructions before using the equipment for the first time.
The Blaupunkt editors are constantly working on making the operating instructions clearer and easier to understand. However, if you still have any questions on how to operate the device, please contact your dealer or the telephone hotline for your country. You will find the telephone number printed at the back of this booklet.
We provide a manufacturer guarantee for our products bought within the European Union. You can view the guarantee conditions at www.blaupunkt.de or ask for them directly at:
Blaupunkt GmbH Hotline Robert-Bosch-Str. 200
31139 Hildesheim Germany
We wish to point out that the right to claim against warranty is invalidated by any changes or modifications to the device that have not been explicitly approved by the manufacturer.
Precautions
Observe all the warnings, precautions and notes on servicing provided in this user manual in order to extend your monitor’s service life.
As the driver, do not use the monitor when driving to avoid traffic accidents.
Only run the device from the recommended 12 V DC power supply.
Do not attempt to open the monitor or to dismantle it, as this can result in an electric shock.
If your monitor develops a fault, take it to a dealer near you or send it to our customer service department.
Avoid using the monitor in an environment where it will be exposed to dust, dirt or moisture.
Make sure that you do not keep the Equipment Passport, included with these instructions, in the vehicle.
Risk of severe damage to the CD drive! CD singles with a diameter of 8 cm and non-circular contoured CDs (shape CDs) must not be used. We accept no responsibility for any damage to the CD drive that may occur as a result of using unsuitable CDs.
To avoid damage to the CD drive, please ensure that you do not stick any labels on the surface of the CD and that you do not use a CD protective film or stabiliser (available in shops as CD accessories).

User instructions
14
The internal CD drive is a Class 1 laser product generating a visible or invisible laser beam of a potentially hazardous type. The CD drive must only be operated in accordance with the specified instructions. Never open the housing, and do not attempt to perform repairs yourself. Any servicing should be carried out by trained personnel.
Caring for CD-ROMs/DVDs
If a CD-ROM/DVD becomes dirty, never clean it with circular movements, but use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean it from the inside to the outside. In cases of heavy soiling we recommend washing the CD/DVD using normal washing up liquid. Here again do not clean the CD/DVD with circular movements, but always from the inside to the outside before leaving it to dry.
We also recommend that you handle the CD/DVD very carefully on both the upper and lower sides, because the structure of the CD/DVD places the information layer immediately under the printed side (the label).
Whenever possible, only hold the CD/DVD by the edge.
Comments on readability:
Any soiling or damage to a CD/DVD can make it difficult to read. The seriousness of the read error depends on the dirt and on the seriousness of the mechanical damage. Deep scratches cause read errors (data errors), and these can make the CD/DVD jump or get stuck. Always therefore handle your CD/DVDs carefully, and always keep them in a protective sleeve.
Usable CD types
CD-Rs/CD-RWs (CDs that you have burned yourself) can usually be played. However, because CD quality varies, Blaupunkt cannot guarantee that the device will function correctly.
To ensure that audio CDs function properly, only use CDs marked with the compact disc logo. Problems might be experienced when trying to play copy-protected CDs. Blaupunkt cannot guarantee the proper functioning of copy-protected CDs!

Convenient RDS functions (AF, REG)
The convenient RDS functions AF (Alternative Frequency) and REG (Regional) extend the range of your radio’s functions.
AF: If you activate this RDS function, the radio automatically tunes into the best receivable frequency for the station that is currently set.
REG: At certain times, some radio stations divide their programme into regional programmes providing different content. The REG function prevents the radio from switching to alternative frequencies that have different programme content.

Glossary
Downmix
The downmix function allows you to create a stereo signal from a Dolby Prologic signal. This can then be distributed to the four loudspeakers.
Dolby Digital
The Dolby Digital multi-channel technology uses up to six channels, and therefore gives a convincing impression of spatial depth and a high sense of reality. This is provided by separate channels for the left, right and centre loudspeakers in the front of the vehicle, along with two full-range surround loudspeakers in the back of the vehicle as well as a subwoofer.
DVD video
DVD video is a software standard specified by the DVD Forum specifically for video signals. An application layer is also necessary for DVD. This specifies standards for such things as the playback speed, forward/ reverse play, interactivity, up to eight audio tracks with up to eight channels, and adjustment of camera angles.
MP3
MP3 stands for MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, and is a data format in which music can be compressed and stored digitally. Due to its ability to combine high quality with small file sizes as well as its platform-independence, the MP3 format has now become the leading format for compressed audio.
