• Do not incinerate the appliance even if it is severely damaged or is completely worn out. The appli-
ance can explode in a fire. Checkwith local codes for possiblespecial disposal instructions.
• If any leakage of liquid from the battery cells occurs, discontinue use immediately and return the bat-
tery to your localBlack & Decker Service Center or authorized service facility.
• Never attempt to open the battery for any reason, if the plastic housing of the battery breaks or
cracks, immediately discontinue use and do not recharge.
• Do not charge the unit outdoors.
• Do not open or mutilate the battery. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause damage to the
eyes or skin. Itmay be toxic if swallowed.
• Exercise care in handling batteries in order not to short the battery with conducting materials such as
rings,bracelets and keys. The battery or conductor may overheat and cause burns. • Do not oper-
ate charger with damaged cord or plug -- have them replaced immediately.
• Do not operate charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise damaged in any
way; take it to a qualified Black & Decker service center.
• If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into
water, return it to a service center
• Do not disassemble charger; take it to a qualified Black &Decker service center when service or
repairis required, incorrect reassembly may result in risk of electric shock or fire. There are no
consumer serviceable parts inside.
• The charger is designed to operate on standard household electrical power (120 volt, 60Hz AC only).
Do not attempt to use it on any other voltage.
• Do not abuse charger cord. To reducethe riskof damage to electric plug and cord never carrycharger
bycord or yank it to disconnectfrom receptacle. Keep chargercord from heat, oil, and sharpedges.
BATTERY
THE LEAD ACID BATTERY FORYOUR SWEEPER ISONLY PARTIALLY CHARGED AT THE
FACTORY.BEFOREUSING YOUR SWEEPER,THE BATTERY MUST BE CHARGED FORA
MINIMUM OF 24 HOURS.
• If the battery case cracks due to a fall or other impact and the electrolyte gel leaks out, wipe it up
with a cloth, neutralize the acid with any alkaline substance such as ammonia solution or baking
soda. if the electrolyte gets on your skin, immediatelyflush with water and consult a doctor.
• Your Sweeperis equipped with a charger bracketthat may be mountedfirmly to a wall in your garage,
shed or similar building. (Hardwarefor hangingthe bracket is included in the plasticbag packedwith
the Sweeper.) Charging your battery in this bracket is very convenient because it hangs the tool up,
out of the way and ensuresagood, solid contact betweenthe charging terminals.
MOUNTING THE CHARGER BRACKET
1. If you intendto charge the Sweeper inthe charger bracket follow the instructions under assembly
instructionson attachingthe plug clamp inthis manual.
2. Remove the two screws andthe plasticanchors from the plastic bag.
3. Use the charger bracket to mark the locations of the holes required. Be sure to mount the bracket
high enough so that the Sweeper can hang freely from it; about 4 feet (1.2m) from the floor.
4. Drill a 7/32" (5.5 mm) diameter hole at each marked location.
5. Insert the plastic anchors into the holes and insert one of the screws in each one. Tighten the
screws untilthe heads are above the anchors just enough so that the charger bracket will fit
between the anchor and the screw head.
6. Placethe charger bracketon the wall (narrowend up)and make surethat the powercord is positioned
inthe side slot. Pressthe charger bracketover the screw headsand slide it down untilit sitsfirmly on
the screws.
7. Firmly tighten both screws.
NOTE: If you prefer to chargethe unit without the use of the wall mounted charger bracket,remove the
two screws and removethe charger plug from the bracket.(Fig. 3) Simply plug the charger intothe
unit to charge.
TO CHARGE YOUR BATTERY, FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW
1. Install the sweeper onto the charger bracket by positioning the hanging recess, shown in Figure 4
over the upper hook of the charger bracket.
2. Rotate the sweeper down, keeping the upper hook engaged with the hanging recess, and position
the locating recess over the lower boss of the charger bracket,as shown in Figure 4.
3. Plug the charger cord into any standard 120volt, 60Hz outlet. The red LED should be glowing.
Chargingwill begin immediately and continue at a slow trickle rate until you remove the sweeper
from the bracket.
4. Keep on charge when not in use for maximum battery life.
The switch can be operated by movingthe lever from sideto side. The "ON"and "OFF"positionsare
marked on the housing as shown in Figure 1A & lB.

• TUBE ASSEMBLY
To attachthe tube to the sweeper, lineup the tube with the sweeper housingas shown in Figure 2.
Pushthe tube intothe sweeper housing until the lock button engages the lock hole inthe tube.
• OPERATION
Holdthe sweeperwith one handas shownin Figure5 and sweepfrom side tosidewith the nozzle
severalinchesabovethe ground. Slowlyadvancekeepingthe accumulatedpile ofdebrisinfrontof you.
• CLEANING AND STORAGE
TURN OFF TOOL!

INSTALLATION DUSUPPORTDE CHARGEMENT
1. Lorsqu'onveut charger I'outildans le supportde chargement,respecterles consignesde la rubrique
d'assemblage du presentguide relative& I'JnstallatJonde la bridede lafiche.
2. SortJrles deux vJset les ancrages en plastiquedu sac de ferrures.
3. Utiliserle support dechargementpour marquerI'emplacementdestrous requis. S'assurerque le
supportest installeassez haut pourque I'outily soJtlibrementsuspendu(&au moins 1,2m (4pi) dusol).
4. Percer un trou de5,5 mm (7/32 pc) de dJametre& chaque emplacement marque.
5. Inserer les ancragesen plastique dans les trous et inserer les vis dartschaque ancrage. Serrer les
visjusqu'& ce que lest_tes soJentjuste au-dessusdes ancragesen laJssantun espacesuffisant pour
installerle supportentreI'ancrageet lat_te de la vJs.
6. Placerle support contre le mur (partJeetroite vers le haut) et s'assurer quele cordon se trouve darts la
fente du c6te. Installer lesupport au-dessusdes t6tes des vis et lefaJreglisservers le basjusqu'&ce
qu'il repose fermement sur lesvis.
7. Bien serrer lesdeuxvJs.

FAIRECE QUI SUiT POURCHARGER LA PILE.
1. Installer I'outJldans le supportde chargement en pla_antle creux de la poignee (fig. 4) sur le crochet
superieurdu support de chargement.
2. Faire tourner I'outilvers le bas en laissantle crochet superieur dans le creuxde la poigneeet placerle
creux de la pile sur la protuberance inferieuredu support dechargement (fig.4).
3. Brancher le cordon du chargeur dans uneprisede courant standard de 120 V, 60 Hz. Letemoin rouge
&D.E.L. devrait_tre allume. Lechargement debute sans tarder etil continue lentementjusqu'&ce
qu'on retire I'outil dusupport.
4. LaJsserI'outilsur le socle de chargement Iorsqu'ilne sertpas afind'en maxJmiserladureede la pile.
