INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety
precautions should always be followed, to
reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and

Warning:

GROUNDING
PIN
The product is equipped with an appropriate
3-conductor cord and 3-prong groundingtype plug to fit the proper grounding-type
receptacle. To reduce the risk of an electric
shock, the plug must be plugged into an
appropriate outlet that is properly installed
and grounded.
Consult a qualified electrician or serviceman
if the grounding instructions are not
completely understood, or if in doubt as
to whether proper grounding exists.
Use only 3-wire extension cords which have
3-prong grounding-type plugs and 3-pole
receptacles which accept the product’s plug.

How Does the Black & Decker™ Bug Zapper Work
Once you plug in the unit, it’s ready to go! The ultraviolet light attracts lightsensitive insects through the electrified grid. With the Single-Grid™ design,
the moment insects contact the grid, they’re electrocuted instantly. The outer
casing prevents children and pets from contacting the zapping grid.

How to Use
Important: Please read instructions before using unit for the first time.
This weather-resistant unit is for outdoor use only.
1. Unpack unit.
Important: Remove the foam inside the bulb cover.
2. Unplug unit and turn upside down.
3. Remove the bulb cover by pressing its side tabs and
pull out (A).
Note: If you have difficulty getting it out, hold the
cover in the center then pull out.
4. Remove the foam inside the bulb cover by pushing
it out with your finger (B).
5. It is recommended to locate the unit away from
your house, patio, pool or wherever people gather
but in close proximity for optimal operation (C).
This will ensure the ultraviolet light attracts insects
away from you and toward the unit.
6. Place the unit on a stable, flat surface or use the
hanging hook.
Important: Hang or mount the unit at least 8 feet
above ground level. Do not mount it on the house, on
decks or near heat, gas, or other flammable materials.
7. Use an extension cord to plug in the unit into an
outdoor electric outlet.
REPLACING THE ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT BULB
The unit comes with a 15-watt "U-shaped" ultraviolet light bulb. It is
recommended to replace the ultraviolet light bulb once a year as its ability
to attract insects diminishes over time. To order replacement bulbs, please
call 1-800-738-0245 or visit your local retailer.
To Remove:
1. Unplug unit and turn upside down.
2. Remove the bulb cover by pressing its side tabs and
pull out (D).
Note: If you have difficulty getting it out, hold the
cover in the center then pull out.
3. Grasp the old bulb and pull it straight out (E).

To Install:
1. Look straight down for the bulb socket and insert
the bulb making sure the prongs fit securely into the
socket (F).
2. To insert the bulb cover, while pressing its side tabs,
position the cover with side indents aligned over
unit’s side tabs. Push it straight down until side
indents fall under unit’s side tabs. Release the cover
(G).
3. Turn the unit upright and make sure the bulb cover
is securely in place.
Care and Cleaning
Product contains no user-serviceable parts, except for
the UV light bulb. Refer service to qualified service
personnel.
To prolong the life of the unit, clean it frequently
especially when you see a large number of dead
insects collected on the zapping grid.
1. Unplug the unit and let it cool before cleaning.
2. Clean the grid with an air blower or a hair dryer on cool setting.
3. Store the unit indoors if the temperature is below 40°F.

Como usar
Importante: Por favor lea todas las instrucciones antes the utilizar la unidad
por primera vez.
Esta unidad, resistente al tiempo, es para uso exterior solamente.
1. Desempaque el aparato.
Importante: Retire la cubierta del bombillo y saque la espuma de empaque
de la cubierta.
1. Desconecte e invierta el aparato.
2. Retire la cubierta del bombillo, presionando las
guías laterales para halar (A).
Nota: Si esto se le dificulta, sujete la cubierta por el
centro y luego tire hacia afuera.
3. Retire la espuma de empaque de la cubierta del
bombillo. Empújela con el dedo y sáquela (B).
2. Para mejor resultado, se recomienda colocar el
aparato alejado de la casa, patio, piscina o
dondequiera que se reúnan las personas, pero
siempre en la cercanía (C). Esto garantiza que la luz
ultravioleta aleje a los insectos de las personas,
atrayéndolos al aparato.
3. Coloque el aparato sobre una superficie plana,
estable o utilice el aro para colgarlo.
Importante: Cuelgue o instale el aparato a una altura
de 8 pies del suelo. No lo instale sobre una casa, una
plataforma ni cerca de las fuentes de gas u otros
materiales inflamables.
4. Utilice un cable de extensión para enchufar el
aparato a una toma de corriente de intemperie.
REEMPLAZO DEL BOMBILLO DE LUZ ULTRAVIOLETA
El aparato trae un bombillo ultravioleta en forma U de 15 watts. Se
recomienda reemplazar este bombillo una vez al año; con el tiempo, el
bombillo se debilita y pierde la capacidad de atraer a los insectos. Para todo
pedido de bombillos de repuesto, llame gratis al 1-800-738-0245 ó visite un
vendedor local.
Remoción:
1. Desconecte e invierta el aparato.
2. Retire la cubierta del bombillo, presionando las
guías laterales para halar (D).
Nota: Si esto se le dificulta, sujete la cubierta por el
centro y luego tire hacia afuera.

3. Agarre el bombillo gastado y hale derecho para
afuera (E).
Instalación:
1. Mire hacia abajo y observe el enchufe hembra del
bombillo. Conecte el bombillo, asegurándose de
que los contactos del mismo encajen bien en el
enchufe (F).
2. Para instalar la cubierta del bombillo, mientras
presiona las guías laterales, alinee las hendiduras
laterales de la cubierta con las guías laterales del
aparato. Empuje la cubierta para abajo hasta que las
hendiduras laterales caigan por debajo de las guías
laterales del aparato. Suelte la cubierta (G).
3. Invierta el aparato en posición derecha y asegúrese
de que la cubierta del bombillo se encuentre bien
sujeta.
Cuidado y limpieza
El product no contiene piezas reparables por el usuario, excepto el bombillo
de luz ultravioleta. Refiera cualquier reparo a personal calificado.
Para aumentar la vida útil del aparato, límpielo con frecuencia,
particularmente cuando observe una gran cantidad de insectos atrapados en
la rejilla.
1. Desconecte el aparato y espere que se enfríe antes de limpiarlo.
2. Limpie la rejilla del aparato con un soplador de aire o con el aire fresco
de un secador de cabello.
3. Almacene el aparato adentro si la temperatura baja a menos de
