This product earned the ENERGY STAR by meeting strict energy efciency guidelines
set by the US EPA. US EPA does not endorse any manufacturer claims of healthier
indoor air from the use of this product.
The energy efciency of this ENERGY STAR qualied model is measured based on a ratio
between the model’s CADR for Dust and the electrical energy it consumes, or CADR/Watt.
WARNINGS
This product should be used only in accordance with the specications outlined
in this manual. Usage other than what has been specied here may result in
serious injury.
• Read all instructions before using appliance.
• IMPORTANT - This portable luminaire has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the
other) as a feature to reduce the risk of electric shock. This plug will t into a polarized
outlet only one way. If the plug does not t fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still
does not t, contact a qualied electrician. Never use an extension cord unless the
plug can be fully inserted. Do not alter the plug.
• To avoid re or shock hazard, plug the appliance directly into a 120V AC electrical
outlet.
• Keep the cord out of heavy trafc areas. To avoid re hazard, NEVER put the cord
under rugs, near heat registers, radiator, stoves or heaters.
• To protect against electrical hazards, DO NOT immerse in water or other liquids.
Do not use near water.
• Children cannot recognize the hazards associated with the usage of electrical appliances. For this reason, always supervise children when they are near the unit.
• Always unplug the air purier before moving it, opening the grill, changing lters,
cleaning or whenever the air purier is not in use. Be sure to pull by the plug and not
the cord.
• NEVER drop or insert any object into any openings.
• DO NOT run cord under carpeting.
• DO NOT cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings.
• DO NOT route cord under furniture or appliances. Arrange cord away from trafc area
and where it will not be tripped over.
• This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless
they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

• NEVER block the air openings, grills/outlets or place on a soft surface such as a bed
or sofa, as this could cause the unit to tip over, blocking the air intake or outtake
opening.
• DO NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or mechanical functions on this
unit. Doing so will void your warranty. The inside of the unit contains no user
serviceable parts. All servicing should be performed by qualied personnel only.
• DO NOT place anything on top of unit.

solid-state speed control device.

What is CADR?
CADR stands for “Clean Air Delivery Rate,” which indicates the volume of ltered air delivered
by an air purier. CADR ratings show the effectiveness of how efcient the air purier is at
capturing ne particules from things like tobacco smoke and plant pollens from the room.
Clean Air Delivery Rate
From air cleaner to air cleaner, compare the CADR numbers. First look at suggested room size. Then refer
to the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) numbers. The higher the number, the faster the unit lters the air.
This air cleaner is suggested for use in a single, closed room up to 155 square feet.
Higher CADR rates provide improved performance in all room sizes. Portable air cleaners will be much
more effective in rooms when all the doors and windows are closed.
TOBACCO SMOKE: 100+
This value represents performance that can be expected within the rst 72 hours of operation. Subsequent use may vary with use.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
BEFORE OPERATING THE AIR PURIFIER:
1. Carefully remove your air purier and combination lter from box and bag.
2. Select a rm, level and at location for the air purier.
* For proper air ow, locate the unit at least 1 foot from any wall or furniture.
* Make sure none of the grills are blocked.
3. Plug the power cord into a 120V AC outlet.
IMPORTANT: When moving the air purier, always lift unit by the carrying handle located on back.
1. Turn the air purier ON by rotating POWER KNOB clockwise.
2. Upon turning the air purier ON, the power indicator will be lit and the unit will be in
LOW mode ( ).
3. Rotate the POWER KNOB clockwise further to set the air purier to MEDIUM mode ( ).
4. Continue to rotate the POWER KNOB clockwise to set the air purier to HIGH mode ( ).
5. To turn the unit OFF, rotate the POWER KNOB counter-clockwise to OFF mode (

INSTALLING/REMOVING COMBINATION FILTER
1. Turn off and unplug the unit.
2. Press the Lock & Release Button and remove the Rear Cover from the unit.
3. Remove the used Combination Filter (Filter Y) and dispose of it in the garbage.
4. Insert new Combination Filter into the unit. Consult the arrow on the lter for
correct installation direction.
5. Reattach the Rear Cover of the unit and securely latch into place.

CLEANING & MAINTAINING
THE COMBINATION FILTER
The air purier should be cleaned at least once every month and the outer Pre-/
Charcoal Filter attached to the HEPA Filter should be cleaned every month. More
frequent cleaning may be required depending on environmental conditions.
PRE-/CHARCOAL FILTER
Remove the Pre-/Charcoal Filter from the velcro strips on the HEPAFreshTM Filter. (Fig. A)
Clean with the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner. This will remove lint and dirt.
After cleaning, reattach the Pre-/Charcoal Filter to the HEPAFresh
TM
Filter.
HEPAFreshTM FILTER
Remove the Combination Filter from the back of unit.
Remove the Pre-/Charcoal Filter to expose the HEPA Filter.
When the HEPA Filter turns from white to grey or black it should be replaced with a
new one. If the HEPA Filter is still white, it does NOT need to be replaced.
AIR PURIFIER
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth to wipe the external surface of the unit.
NOTE: Do NOT stick any foreign objects or your ngers inside of the unit.
CAUTION: Do NOT use gasoline, benzine, thinner, harsh cleaners, etc. on
and/or in the unit while cleaning as they will damage the product.
NEVER use alcohol or other solvents.
IMPORTANT: Do NOT try to wash and re-use the Combination Filter. Please contact
Customer Service at 1.855.260.5566 or visit us at www.BlackandDecker.com to purchase
a replacement lter.

NOTE: The Combination Filter is one lter. The multiple layers include: the Pre-/Charcoal
Filter and the HEPAFreshTM Filter.
