3. Introduction
The device is an over-the-counter device designed to remove unwanted hair and permanently reduce regrowth as measured at 6, 9, and 12 months after treatment ends.
How IPL (intense pulsed light) technology works
The device is based on the principle of selective photo-
Do not use the IPL 7500 device on tanned skin or after sun exposure

thermolysis. IPL uses a combination of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology and unique skin condition sensors. The light pulse is absorbed by the melanin in the hair shaft, causing local thermal damage which results in a reduction in hair growth.
Long-term hair reduction
The hair growth cycle consists of three phases: anagen, catagen, and telogen. Anagen is the growth phase, while
6
catagen and telogen are resting phases. Permanent hair reduction can only occur during anagen. Skin types are depicted on the Fitzpatrick scale below. Darker skin contains more melanin, which competes with melanin in the targeted hair for energy absorption. When more light energy is absorbed into the skin, there is a greater risk of adverse effects and epidermis damage. This device is only recommended for use on skin types I through IV.

Contraindications
To prevent the possibility of serious personal injury, do not use this device in the following instances, since the safety of this device in these cases has not been fully established.
If you are under the age of 18.
If you are pregnant, nursing or might be pregnant.
If you have skin cancer, on areas at risk of malignancy, or if you have received radiation therapy or chemotherapy within the past three months.
If you have epilepsy.
On damaged or broken skin or if you have a history of herpes or psoriasis outbreaks in the treatment area.
If you suffer from keloid scar formation (growth of extrascar tissue where the skin has healed after an injury).
If you have been taking tetracycline antibiotics and medication with the following active ingredients within the last two weeks: Retinoid acid, Retin-A, or drugs containing Vitamin A such as Accutane.
If you are photosensitive or have other diseases related to light sensitivity.
If you suffer from severe or decompensated metabolic conditions such as diabetes since it may delay healing and infection in the case of an adverse effect.
If you have had a skin peel or other skin resurfacing procedure within the last eight weeks.
CAUTION
If you have undergone any other aesthetic procedures or any uncertainty regarding potential side effects, consult your physician before use.
The use of Pulsed Light Hair Reduction System is gen-
Possible side effects
If used according to these instructions, side effects from this device are rare. Any aesthetic procedure can cause some degree of side effects, however. It is important to understand the risks and complications that could occur with a pulsed light hair removal system.
10
Degree of Side Effects
Minor Skin Irritation
Rare Skin Burns
Extremely Rare Infection
Skin Irritation
erally very well-tolerated, but many users do feel a sensation of warmth and a mild stinging sensation during treatment or a few minutes after. Anything beyond minor skin irritation means that either the energy level is too high or your skin is unable to tolerate the hair reduction process.
Side Effects
Skin Redness Skin Sensitivity
Scarring Pigment Changes Excessive Redness and Swelling
Bruising
Skin Redness
Redness on the treated area may appear after treatment
or within 24 hours. Consult your physician in case the redness does not disappear after 2 to 3 days.
Skin Sensitivity
You may feel that skin in the treated area is more sensi-
tive or you may encounter dryness or flaking of the skin.
Skin Burns
Rarely, burns on the treated area can occur following the
use of the hair removal reduction system. The burns can require a few weeks to heal and, extremely rarely, may leave a visible scar.
Scarring
In rare cases, permanent scarring may occur. Usually
when scarring occurs it is in the form of a flat and white lesion on the skin (hypotrophic). However, it can be large and red (hypertrophic) or large and extend beyond the margins of the injury itself (keloid). Subsequent aesthetic treatments may be required to improve the appearance of the scar.
Pigment Changes
Use of the device may cause temporary skin hyperpig-
mentation (increased pigment or brown discoloration) or hypopigmentation (whitening) to the surrounding skin.
The risk is higher for people with darker skin tones. Usually discoloration or changes to skin pigment are temporary and permanent hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation rarely occur.
Excessive Redness and Swelling
Very rarely, the treated area skin may become red and
swollen. This side effect is most common in sensitive areas of the body. Redness and swelling should decrease after 2 to 7 days and you should treat the area by applying ice. Avoid exposure to sun.
Infection
In rare cases, infection of the skin could occur after a
burn caused by the treatment.
Bruising
Blue-purple bruising is exceedingly rare and could last 5
to 10 days. As bruising fades, there could be a permanent rusty brown discoloration of the skin (hyperpigmentation).
Benefits
This device features a built-in skin color sensor that continually evaluates your skin tone and allows treatment only on suitable areas. This safety feature also disables treatment if the skin in the treatment area is too dark or tanned,
11
even if your general skin type is lighter. As an extra precaution, this device only emits a light pulse when it is in contact with your skin. Response to the device hair reduction differs among individuals, depending on biological factors and how closely treatment instructions are followed. Based on the treatment regime in these instructions, some results can be seen in 3-4 weeks. The hair will continue to grow up to two weeks after a treatment session. Since hair grows in three different stages, the hairs will naturally and gradually fall out depending on the hair growth stage in which the treatment was done (only hairs in the active growth stage will be affected). Some hair may not be affected by the device because of the different hair growth stages. Continue treatment over a period of time to ensure hair is treated in the effective stage. For permanent reduction in hair regrowth, defined as a longterm, stable reduction in the number of hair regrowing when measured at 6, 9, and 12 months you should follow treatment regimen.
5. To Set Up
1
. Remove all components from the box (handheld device
and power supply).
12
2
. Before beginning the treatment, make sure the device is
clean, dry, and intact.
3
. Plug the power supply end into an electrical outlet and
the cord end into the device socket. The device is now ready to be used.
Preparing Skin for Treatment
1
. Before treatment, make sure your skin is shaved, clean,
and dry (free of any residue such as powders, creams, makeup, antiperspirants, or deodorants).
2
. Between treatments, you can shave but do not wax or
pluck treated hair.
3
. Never use flammable liquids such as alcohol (including
perfumes, sanitizers, or other applications containing alcohol) or acetone to clean the skin for at least one hour before treatment.
4
. Ensure the device is clean and then perform a prelimin-
ary test on a small patch of skin in the intended treatment area 48 hours prior to first full use. This test will help determine the proper energy level setting for your skin type (see the “Preliminary Test” section below). The device is now ready to be used.
• For a prolonged use, device cleaning is a must (see chapter 6 “Care and maintenance”).
• R
emember: The device comes with a built-in skin-tone sensor, enabling the application only on a suitable skin range. This unique safety feature will not let you treat areas where your skin is too dark or too tanned, even if your general skin type is lighter.
• The device is suitable for men. However male body hair, especially those on the chest will require more hair reduction sessions.
Preliminary Test
A preliminary test will determine your skin’s reaction to the device treatment and help you set the optimal energy level for each treatment area. Perform a preliminary test on each area you intend to treat 48 hours prior to the full treatment.
CAUTION
Do not treat full areas with energy levels that you have not tested before! Do not treat the tested area for at least 48 hours after the preliminary test is completed.
1
. Select an area of skin to test and place the treatment
window in full contact with the skin. Press the On/Off/ power selection button once to select Energy Level 1 and then press the Trigger button once to emit a single pulse.
2
. If you feel comfortable with the energy level, press the
On/Off/power selection button again to increase to Energy Level 2, move the treatment window of the device to another test area of skin and press the trigger button again.
3
. If you still feel comfortable, increase the Energy Level
to 3.
4
. Stop the test if you do not feel comfortable, as increas-
ing the energy level increases the risk of adverse effects.
5
. If you see adverse effects such as severe redness or blis-
tering, stop the test immediately.
6
. Wait 48 hours and examine the tested area. If the skin in
the test area seems normal (no response or mild redness observed), you can proceed with a full treatment in the highest comfortable energy level. If you see excess redness, swelling, or blistering even in the low-energy level settings, do not treat that area.
Treating the Skin
I
MPORTANT:
Conduct a preliminary test before performing a full treatment. See the “Preliminary Test” section above. 1
. Plug the power cord into the device; the green power
LED will flash indicating the device is in standby mode. Press the On/Off/power selection button to turn on the
13
device; one green Level LED will illuminate indicating the device is set to Energy Level 1. To increase the Energy Level, press the On/Off/power selection button repeatedly to select Energy Level 2 or 3. Select the energy level according to your convenience, as determined in the preliminary test for that treatment area.
2
. Position the treatment window onto the desired area of
skin, making sure it makes full contact. If the treatment window is not properly positioned, the Power LED will briefly change to orange. If your skin tone is too dark/ tanned, the Power LED will briefly change to red. In either case, the device will not operate.
3
. Press the trigger button for a single pulse or press and
hold for continuous operation. After the first pulse, the internal fan in the device may switch on.
4
. When pressing the trigger button you will see a bright
flash, hear a popping noise, and may feel a mild stinging and/or heating sensation.
5
. Keep the trigger button pressed and move the device to
a different area after each pulse while keeping it in contact with the skin. Continue until the entire treatment area has been covered.
6
. After treatment, shut the device off by pressing and hold-
ing the On/Off/power selection button for three seconds;
the orange LED will illuminate while the device is in shutdown mode, followed by blinking green which indicates the device is in standby mode. Unplug the device after each treatment session.
CAUTION
Do not overlap pulses in the same spot. Repeated pulses on the same spot may cause burns.
Do not treat the same area of skin more than once per treatment as it may cause skin irritation.
The device will not trigger a pulse if:
a. There is no full contact of the treatment window with
the body skin.
b. Your skin tone is too dark or tanned.
