1. Introduction
Congratu lations! With the BEH RINGER ULTRAPAR UP1200 you
purchas ed a fi rst-class PAR spot-l ight mounted in a comp act,
extre mely robust and du rable casing and fe aturing a compreh ensive
range of accessories.
1.1 Before you begin
Your ULTRAPAR was care fully packed in the f actory and th e
packaging is designed to protect the unit from rough handling.
Nevertheless, we recommend that you carefully examine the
packagi ng and its content s for any signs of physic al damage,
which may have o ccurred during t ransit.
◊ If the unit i s damaged, pleas e do not return it t o BEHRINGER,
but notify your dealer and the shipping company
immediately, otherwise claims for damage or replacement
may not be gr anted. Shipping c laims must be ma de by

1.2 Mains connection
Prior to the i nitial operatio n of the spotlight UP1200, a ma ins plug
must be at tached to the powe r cord. Please use a com mercially
available sh ockproof plug w ith a minimum power ra ting of 2.5 A
(220/240 V). The wir es of the connec ting cable are clea rly marked
according to their function.
The spotli ght can be operate d from a power supply o f max. 120 V/5 A
or 240 V/2.5 A AC. The main s frequency sho uld be 50/60 Hz.
◊ Please no te that your ULTRAPAR spotlig ht must be grou nded
proper ly. For your own safet y, you should not rem ove or
defeat th e ground conne ction of the spo tlight or power cor d.
◊ Make sure th at the spotlight w ill be install ed by qualified
personnel only.
2. Lamp
The haloge n lamp needed for usi ng the UP1200 is not include d
with the sh ipment. To start usi ng your ULTRAPAR spotlight, u se the
BEHRINGER 575H (575 Watt s at 110 V/230 V) or any othe r compatible
lamp with t he G9.5 socket. Make sure th at the lamp you use is
compatib le with local volt age.
◊ If the lamp is operated with a voltage surpassing its nominal
operating voltage, it can be damaged/destroyed or its
service life reduced considerably.
2.1 Disassembling the lamp casing/
installing a lamp
Lamps tha t have been damaged, mus t be replaced imme diately!
Please pro ceed as follows to re place the lamp:
◊ The lamp gets very hot during operation of the spotlight,
so let it coo l down suffic iently before y ou attempt to
dismount it!
• Disconne ct the spotligh t from the mains powe r supply,
and unscr ew the thumb screw on t he rear of the
lamp casing (3) (G 9.5 socket)
• Carefully pull out the lamp casing (3) from the re ar part
of the spotlight
• Carefu lly take the lamp out of i ts carton, by hol ding it
at its socket
◊ Never touc h the glass bulb of t he lamp, as this can r educe
the lamp’s ser vice life cons iderably. If you tou ch the glass
bulb during installation, wipe it clean with a lint-free cloth
damped with ethyl alcohol (spirit).
• Dependi ng on socket type, u se the correspon ding
temperature-resistant rubber adapter provided
• Press the la mp socket (and the rubb er adapter) into the ho lder
inside the lamp casing (3) u ntil the lamp is safe ly mounted
in place. The en tire bottom side o f the lamp socket mus t be in
contac t with the casing
• Remount the casing and connect it to the grounding cable (2)
coming from the spotlight. Fasten the thumb screw until the
casing is s afely mounted in pl ace
• Avoid touching the reflector with bare hands. Oily finger
marks c an bake onto the glass su rface and subs tantially
lower optical quality
3. Lenses
Your ULTRAPAR spotligh t is delivered with f our glass lenses.
◊ Never use yo ur ULTRAPAR without the pr otective mesh i n
combina tion with the col or frame becau se it prevents di rect
contac t with the hot lamp s urface. It also p revents piece s of
broken glass from uncontrollably dispersing in the event of
the lens being broken.
The shape of e ach lens determine s the light beam prod uced by the
spotligh t (Fig. 3.1). Also, use the tur nable lens ring to opt imally
adjust th e direction of t he light beam.

3.1 Dismounting the lens
◊ The lens gets very hot during operation of the spotlight,
so let it coo l down suffic iently before y ou attempt to
dismount it!
• Disconne ct the spotligh t from the mains and wa it until it has
cooled down
• Place the spo tlight on a flat and sta ble surface. Neve r mount or
dismount t he lens, while the spo tlight is fi xed to a truss o r stand
• Remove the protective mesh (8) : press it s two spring shack les,
then pull ou t the mesh
• Direc tly in front of the le ns, you will fi nd a movable m etal
clamp (4) attached to the lens ring (5) . Turn the len s ring,
until the me tal clamp is locat ed on the top side of the sp otlight
(directly below the locking bracket (13)
• Tilt the f ront side of the spot light forward by a t least 45°
• Push the mova ble metal clamp upw ard to dismount and pul l out
the lens (10)
3.2 Mounting the lens
• Tilt the spotlight forward and turn the lens ring (5), until the
movable metal clamp (4) i s located on the top si de of the
spotlight (directly below the locking bracket (13)
• Insert t he lens with its ro unded side towards t he rear.
The lower ed ge of the lens must be lo cated behind the
projecting elements (6) of the lens ring
• Press the u pper edge of the lens s lightly towards th e rear,
until it lo cks in behind the m etal clamp (4)
• Installation of the protective mesh (8) : Pre ss the two spring
shackle s of the protecti ve mesh and place it dire ctly in front
of the lens ring (5) . There a re two slots in the di e-cast casi ng
of your ULTRAPAR for t he “feet” of t he protective me sh.
The two sp ring shackles mus t be located dire ctly below
the lock ing bracket (13)
4. Color frame
The color f rame (11) is used to hol d color filters. Plea se observe the
following instructions to install the color frame:
• Detach the locking bracket (13) o n the top side of the spo tlight,
by pushing i t to the side. Then, open th e bracket and tilt it
towards the rear
• Insert t he color frame int o the frame holder s (9) and (12),
i.e. the outer g uiding rail (with st ops on three sides) on th e
front sid e of the ULTRAPAR
• Push the loc king bracket (13) to the sid e and move it down
until it lo cks in
◊ Only use color filters with appropriate
temperature resistance!
◊ Never use yo ur ULTRAPAR without the pr otective mesh i n
combina tion with the col orframe be cause it prevent s direct
contac t with the hot lamp s urface. It also p revents piece s of
broken glass from uncontrollably dispersing in the event of
the lens being broken.
5. Cleaning the reflector
• Disconne ct the spotligh t from the mains and re move the
lamp casin g as described in c hapter 2.1
• Remove the co lor frame (11) (chapter 4), the prot ective mesh and
lens (10) (chapter 3.1), so that the refl ec tor is easily access ible
• Cleaning t he reflector: Us e oil-free compr essed air or a sof t,
lint-free c otton cloth. Tenacio us stains can be re moved by
adding so me mild soap water, however, don’t f orget to remove
all soap wat er remnants as well
• Remount th e spotlight (see cha pters 2.1 and 3.2)
◊ Never clean the reflector with commercial window cleaners,
as the chem ical substan ces contained i n these agents c an
damage the reflector insert!
◊ Don’t use p aper towels or othe r material with a r ough
surfa ce to wipe the refl ec tor clean, so as to a void scratches
damagin g the reflecto r surface.
◊ Avoid touching the reflector with bare hands. Oily finger
marks can bake onto the glass surface and substantially
lower optical quality.
6. Suspended installation
Use the mounting bracket (1) to attach you r spotlight to a stan d
or truss . Always use M12 steel screw s to fasten the spot light.
Your UP1200 must be se cured with an add itional safet y steel cable .
Use the ste el cable fixed to the sp otlight casing (eyele t (15) ).
Once the spo tlight has been adju sted, it must be se cured in place
with the locking screw (14).
