Adaptive Sound
Technology
Supplement
First-time setup of your television
Your system is equipped with
Adaptive Sound Technology which
allows you to enjoy an optimal sound
experience with a multiple speaker
setup even though your speakers are
not placed correctly for your listening
position. The Adaptive Sound
Technology feature in the television
uses all connected speakers to create
the ultimate sound experience of
perfectly placed speakers.
To enjoy the advantages of this setup
several speakers and a Beo5 remote
control are necessary. If you have
only a few speakers or a Beo4
remote control, this setup is not
recommended and you should
choose the setup without Adaptive
Sound Technology described in the
chapters about first-time setup and
loudspeaker setup in the Guide
enclosed with your product.
Overview of first-time setup
The first-time setup of your television has up
to four main steps: registration of all
connected equipment, tuning of channels,
loudspeaker setup and sound adjustment.*
After the first couple of menus you are asked
to switch Adaptive Sound Technology on or
off. Continue with the procedure described
here if you select ON. If you select OFF, follow
the procedure described in the chapter about
first-time setup in the Guide.
You can make and name your own presets for
listening positions such as at the dining table
or in your favourite armchair. For further
information about listening presets, refer to
page 6 in this supplement.
If you choose to switch on Adaptive Sound
Technology function, you can still disable it in
one or more of the listening presets you
make. For fur ther information about
Adaptive Sound Technology, refer to page 4
in this supplement.
The setup procedure is activated
when the television is connected to
the mains and switched on for the
first time. You are led through an
automatic series of on-screen menus
in which you must register the extra
equipment you have connected, such
as a projector and loud speakers.
If you change your setup at a later date,
you can access the same menus and
update your settings. Remember that
you need to set the speaker types
and the distances in the SPEAKER
SETUP menu.
*NOTE! Tuning of channels is not part of first-time
setup in all countries.
The sequence of menus in first-time setup:
MENU LANGUAGE* … You can select the
language for on-screen menus. The text on the
screen changes as you move from language to

channels. For further information about tuning
TV channels, refer to the chapter about retuning
and adding channels in the Guide.

between a speaker setup menu with or without

information about Adaptive Sound Technology,
refer to the chapter ‘Loud speaker setup’ on
page 4.

through a procedure in which the highlighted

loudness. In addition, you can select two

each time you switch on a video source in your
television, and one to be used each time you
switch on an audio source connected to your
television. You can also select which LISTENING
PRESET should be activated when you switch on
an audio source. If you select the option
MANUAL, the preset used when switching on
the audio source continues to be active and if all
your sources are switched off, the preset used
before switching on the audio source is
automatically activated. If you select one of your
LISTENING PRESETS, the selected preset is
activated every time you switch on an audio
