Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS
certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The
HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage32.

Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe
resettothefactorydefaultsettings.SeeResettofactorydefaultsettingsonpage42.

Tosetthepassword,enteritdirectlyinthedialog.

Congurecapturemode

CapturemodedenesthemaximumresolutionandmaximumframerateavailableintheAxisproduct.Thecapturemodesettingalso
affectsthecamera’sangleofview.

Selectthedesiredcapturemodefromthedrop-downlistandclickOK.

Thedefaultcapturemodeis1080p@30/25fps.ToconnecttheproducttoavideosourceusingastandardHDMI®cable,
selecttheHDMIoption.

SetPowerLineFrequency

PowerlinefrequencyissetthersttimetheAxisproductisaccessedandcanonlybechangedfromPlainCong(seepage42)
orbyresettingtheproducttofactorydefault.

Selectthepowerlinefrequency(50Hzor60Hz)usedatthelocationoftheAxisproduct.Selectingthewrongfrequencymaycause
imageickeriftheproductisusedinuorescentlightenvironments.

Note

Powerlinefrequencyvariesdependingongeographicregion.TheAmericasusuallyuse60Hz,whereasmostotherpartsof
theworlduse50Hz.Localvariationscouldapply.Alwayscheckwiththelocalauthorities.

TheliveviewwindowintheproductprovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailablestream
proles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheliveviewwindow.

AboutH.264format

H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion
JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace
arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.
