2. SCANNER INSTALLATION
2.1 PRECAUTIONS
9 Keep the scanner out of direct sunlight. Direct exposure to the
sun or excessive heat may cause damage to the unit.
9 Do not install the scanner in a humid or dusty place.
9 Be sure to use the proper AC power source.
9 Place the scanner securely on an even, flat surface. Tilted or
uneven surfaces may cause mechanical or paper-feeding
problems.
9Keep the shipping box and the material in case you may need to
ship the scanner again.
9Use only the AC adapter (ADP-20LB, Rev: B, made by Delta
Electronics, Inc.) included with the machine. Using other AC
adapters may damage the machine and vo id the warr anty.
2.2 SCANNER UNPACKING
Please unpack the scanner carefully. If any item is missing or
damaged, please contact your authorized Avision dealer
immediately.
Remove the shipping lock:
1. Unlock the scanner by moving the lock switch beneath it to the
“Unlock” position. (Refer to the Lock/Unlock figure on the right
side.)

2.5 CNNECTING THE CABLES
Be sure the scanner power is switched off.
Connect the power cable, ADF cable, and USB cable as below.
Step 1: Connect the ADF Cable.

Turning on the Power
The power is controlled by a toggle switch on the side of the
scanner. To turn on the scanner, press the switch toward "1".

3. SCANNER DRIVER INSTALLATION
PC platform
To run the scanner at rated speed as recommended, you must have
the following minimum requirements:
9 IBM compatible Pentium
9 Microsoft Windows 98se or later;
9 One USB port installed on your computer;
9 20M bytes of available hard disk space for installation;
9 64M bytes of RAM ;
9 A video graphics array (VGA 16.7 m.) monitor;
9 A Microsoft Windows-compatible pointing device (e.g.,
the mouse);
9 A CD-ROM drive.

3.1 INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
Instruct your PC to identify the USB device, AV600U:
1. Turn on the PC, which is going to connect to AV600U via a
USB cable.
2. Connect the attached power cord and USB cable to the
AV600U (See Chapter 1).
3. Windows will now prompt a series of “Add New Hardware
Wizard” in succession to install the necessary software for
the new USB hardware. Follow these steps to complete the
installation.

4. When the initial “Add New Hardware Wizard” dialog below is
prompted, choose “Next”.
