CAUTION:
The vessel manufacturer must comply with the requirements
of CFR 40 1060.202. Any questions can be directed to www.

Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental
fuel system over-pressurization. Users must follow these
instructions to ensure vessel function and operation
EMISSION-RELATED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Failing to follow these instructions when installing the Attwood
Carbon Canister System Direct Fill in a piece of nonroad equipment violates
federal law (40 CFR 1068.105(b)), subject to fines or other penalties as
described in the Clean Air Act.
FEATURES:
The Attwood Carbon Canister System Direct Fill is sturdy, non-corrosive plastic. Bonding
and grounding are not required because they are non-metallic. The Direct Fill cap is water
resistant when secured correctly; turned until an audible sound is heard. They meet all
requirements for ISO 10080, ABYC, and USCG.
The Carbon Canister Direct Fill is not certified for diurnal emission control. The use of a
certified Carbon Canister for proper diurnal emission control is required to meet EPA diurnal
emission control requirements. The Attwood Direct Fill is equipped with over pressure relief
valve. This valve is intended only to prevent the accidental over pressurization of a fuel
system and is a safety device only, not for use as diurnal emission control devices.
MOUNTING LOCATION AND REGULATIONS
Select location that meets these conditions:
1. Conforms to all ABYC, U.S. Coast Guard, and EPA regulations. (See end of this document
for information availability.)
2. In an area where spilled fuel cannot enter the boat.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Secure Direct Fill by rotating assembly clockwise to 12 N-m (9ft/lb) torque then continue
clockwise rotation to next Anti-Backout tooth clicks past the Tab. The use of a strap
wrench is acceptable.
2. Pressure test tank to ensure connection integrity, per CFR 33 183.580, at a pressure
of 3 psi for no less than 5 minutes. Inspect all connections for leak by method other
than pressure decay.
3. If leaks occur, rotate the cap clockwise until the second Anti-Backout tooth clicks past
the tab. (prefered position)
4. Pressure test tank to ensure connection integrity, per CFR 33 183.580, at a pressure
of 3 psi for no less than 5 minutes. Inspect all connections for leak by method other
than pressure decay.
5. If a leak occurs, rotate cap clockwise until the third Anti-Backout tooth has clicked
past the Tab.
6. Pressure test tank to ensure connection integrity, per CFR 33 183.580, at a pressure
of 3 psi for no less than 5 minutes. Inspect all connections for leak by method other
than pressure decay.
7. If a leak occurs, rotate cap clockwise until the fourth Anti-Backout tooth has clicked
past the Tab.
8. Pressure test tank to ensure connection integrity, per CFR 33 183.580, at a pressure
of 3 psi for no less than 5 minutes. Inspect all connections for leak by method other
than pressure decay.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Care should be taken, when cleaning the boat, to prevent contaminating the valves and direct
fill. Cleaning with only mild soapy water is recommended. All connections should be checked
annually.
