Safety precautions
Using your Notebook PC
This Notebook PC should only be used in
environments with ambient temperatures between
5°C (41°F) and 35°C (95°F).
Refer to the rating label on the bottom of your
Notebook PC and ensure that your power adapter
complies with this rating.
Do not leave your Notebook PC on your lap or near
any part of your body to prevent discomfort or
injury from heat exposure.
Do not use damaged power cords, accessories, and
other peripherals with your Notebook PC.
While powered on, ensure that you do not carry or
cover your Notebook PC with any materials that can
reduce air circulation.
Do not place your Notebook PC on uneven or
unstable work surfaces.
You can send your Notebook PC through x-ray
machines (used on items placed on conveyor belts),
but do not expose them to magnetic detectors and
wands.
Turn o your PC dock while inight. Contact your
airline provider to learn about other services that
can be used and restrictions that must be followed
when using your Notebook PC in-ight.

Caring for your Notebook PC
Disconnect the AC power and remove the battery
pack (if applicable) before cleaning your Notebook
PC. Use a clean cellulose sponge or chamois cloth
dampened with a solution of nonabrasive detergent
and a few drops of warm water. Remove any extra
moisture from your Notebook PC using a dry cloth.
Do not use strong solvents such as thinners,
benzene, or other chemicals on or near your
Notebook PC.
Do not place objects on top of your Notebook PC.
Do not expose your Notebook PC to strong
magnetic or electrical elds.
Do not use or expose your Notebook PC near
liquids, rain, or moisture.
Do not expose your Notebook PC to dusty
environments.
Do not use your Notebook PC near gas leaks.
Proper disposal
Do not throw your Notebook PC in municipal waste.
This product has been designed to enable proper
reuse of parts and recycling. The symbol of the
crossed out wheeled bin indicates that the product
(electrical, electronic equipment and mercurycontaining button cell battery) should not be
placed in municipal waste. Check local regulations
for disposal of electronic products.

Touch screen panel
Your Notebook PC comes with a detachable touch screen panel
that works like a tablet PC to suit your mobile needs. The touch
screen panel is also equipped with its own features for work and
play which can be accessed using touch screen panel gestures.
NOTE: For more details on using the touch screen panel, refer
to the Touch screen panel features and Using touch screen panel
gestures sections in this manual.
PC dock
The PC dock provides additional input features to your touch
screen panel via its touchpad and keyboard functions. The PC
dock also supports wireless input for the touch screen panel for a
distance of up to ve (5) meters.
IMPORTANT! To know more about connecting or disconnecting
your touchscreen panel from its PC dock, refer to the Docking the
touch screen panel and Undocking the touch screen panel sections
in this manual.
NOTE: For more details on using the PC dock, refer to the PC dock
features section in this manual.

Left side
The following hardware features located on your touch screen panel
and PC dock can be used while working on your Notebook PC.
NOTE: The following hardware features on the touch screen panel also
work when using the device as a tablet.
USB 3.0 port
This Universal Serial Bus 3.0 (USB 3.0) port provides a transfer
rate of up to 5 Gbit/s and is backward compatible to USB 2.0.
Headphone output/microphone input combo jack port
This port allows you to connect the touch screen panel to
amplied speakers or headphones. You can also use this port to
connect your touch screen panel to an external microphone.
Power (DC) input port
Insert the bundled power adapter into this port to charge the
battery pack and supply power to your Notebook PC.
WARNING! The adapter may become warm to hot while in use.
Do not cover the adapter and keep it away from your body while
it is connected to a power source.
IMPORTANT! Use only the bundled power adapter to charge the
battery pack and supply power to your Notebook PC.
Micro HDMI port
This port is for a micro High-Denition Multimedia Interface
(HDMI) connector and is HDCP compliant for HD DVD, Blu-ray
and other protected content playback.
Air vents
The air vents allow cool air to enter and warm air to exit the
Notebook PC.
WARNING! Ensure that paper, books, clothing, cables, or other
objects do not block any of the air vents or else overheating may
occur.
Two-color battery charge indicator
The two-color LED provides a visual indication of the battery’s
charge status.
NOTE: For more details, refer to the Touch screen panel LED color
table section in this manual.

Touch screen panel LED color table
Color Status
Solid White The touch screen panel is plugged to a
power source, charging its battery, and the
battery power is between 95% and 100%.
Solid Orange The touch screen panel is connected to
the PC dock, charging its battery, and the
touch screen panel’s battery power is less
than 30%.
NOTE: This charging process is
automatically enabled even while your
system is on sleep mode or turned o.
Blinking Orange The touch screen panel is running on
battery mode and the battery power is less
than 10%.
Lights o The touch screen panel is running on
battery mode and the battery power is
between 10% to 100%.
Volume button
Press this button to increase or decrease the volume.
PC dock charging port
Connect the bundled micro USB to USB cable into this port to
charge your PC dock.
Right side
The following hardware features located on your touch screen panel
can be used while working on your Notebook PC. These features also
work when the touch screen panel is used as a tablet device.
Audio speakers
This touch screen panel uses SonicMaster technology to provide
hi- sound quality, with richer bass sounds, straight from the
built-in audio speakers.

Front side
The following hardware features located on your touch screen panel
can be used while working on your Notebook PC. These features also
work when the touch screen panel is used as a tablet device.
Power button
Press the power button to turn your touch screen panel on or o.
You can also use the power button to put your Notebook PC to
sleep or hibernate mode and wake it up from sleep or hibernate
mode.
In the event that your Notebook PC becomes unresponsive,
press and hold the power button for about four (4) seconds until
it shuts down.
IMPORTANT! The power button turns on the touch screen panel
only. Turn on the PC dock using its power switch so you can
activate its features on your Notebook PC.
Air vents
The air vents allow cool air to enter and warm air to exit the
Notebook PC.
WARNING! Ensure that paper, books, clothing, cables, or other
objects do not block any of the air vents or else overheating may
occur.

Front camera
The built-in front camera allows you to take pictures or record
videos using your Notebook PC.
Camera indicator
The camera indicator lights up when the built-in camera is in use.
Ambient light sensor
The ambient light sensor detects the amount of ambient light in
your environment. It allows the system to automatically adjust
the brightness of the display depending on the ambient light
condition.
Touch screen panel
This high-denition touch screen panel provides excellent
viewing features for photos, videos, and other multimedia
les on your Notebook PC. It also allows you to operate your
Notebook PC using touch gestures.
NOTE: To know more about using touch screen panel gestures
when operating your Notebook PC, refer to the Using the touch
screen panel section in this manual.
Windows® touch button
Touch this button to go back to the Start screen. If you are
already in the Start screen, touch this button to go back to the
last app you opened.
Rear camera
The built-in rear camera allows you to take pictures or record
videos using your Notebook PC.
Bottom side
PC dock slot
This slot is magnetic and aligns conveniently with the magnetic
PC dock tab to securely attach the touch screen panel to its PC
dock.
WARNING!
• The PC dock slot is magnetic Please keep out of
children’s reach.
• Magnetic elds generated by mobile devices may
damage data on magnetic storage media, such as
credit cards, computer discs or tapes. Do not place
your device next to such media.
• You should never expose your device to strong
magnetic elds as this may cause temporary
malfunction.
• Magnets can aect functioning pacemakers and
implanted debrillators. Refer to your pacemaker or
debrillator’s suggested distance from magnets, if
applicable.
MicroSD card slot
The touch screen panel comes with a built-in memory card
reader slot that supports microSD and microSDHC/SDXC card
formats.

This indicator lights up when the PC dock is turned on.

Solid White The PC dock is currently paired with the touch

This indicator lights up when the caps lock function is activated.
Enabling the caps lock function on your keyboard allows you to
automatically type letters in upper-case form (e.g. A, B, C).
PC dock release button
Press this button to safely detach the touch screen panel from
the PC dock.

PC dock hinge
This hinge supports the touch screen panel while it is
connected to the PC dock. It also holds the touch screen panel
in place while you adjust it into dierent viewing angles.
ASUS Console key
Press this button to launch the ASUS Console app launcher.
Numeric keypad on keyboard
Using the function key, you can toggle between using these
keys according to their original function or using them as a
numeric keypad.
NOTE: For more details, refer to the Numeric keypad on keyboard
section in this manual.
Keyboard
The keyboard provides full-sized QWERTY keys with a
comfortable travel depth for typing. It also enables you to
use the function keys, allows quick access to Windows®, and
controls other multimedia functions.
NOTE: The keyboard layout diers by model or territory.
Touchpad
The touchpad allows the use of multi-gestures to navigate
onscreen, providing an intuitive user experience. It also
simulates the functions of a regular mouse.
NOTE: For more details, refer to the Gestures for the touchpad
section in this manual.
Rear view
PC dock tab
The magnetic PC dock tab securely attaches the touch screen
panel to the PC dock.
Attach the touch screen panel to the PC dock by aligning the PC
dock slot on top of this tab. Once attached, you can adjust the
touch screen panel according to your preferred viewing angle.
WARNING!
• The PC dock tab is magnetic. Please keep out of
children’s reach.
• Magnetic elds generated by mobile devices may

Docking the touch screen panel
Align the touch screen panel on top of the PC dock tab as illustrated
below.
NOTE: The PC dock slot and the PC dock tab have magnetic parts. The
pull between these magnets help align the touch screen panel to securely
connect it with the PC dock.
Undocking the touch screen panel
Press the release button on the PC dock to securely detach the touch
screen panel from the PC dock tab, then gently pull out the touch
screen panel.
