Product Description/Functions
NOTE
The information in this manual was correct at the time
of printing. However, Arjo reserves the right to
incorporate changes or modifications to the
specifications without prior notice.
The MultiClean disinfection system addresses the concerns over
the effective cleaning and disinfection of bathing and showering
products for hospitals, nursing homes and other health care
environments.
When used with the Arjo range of disinfectants, the MultiClean
disinfection system delivers a solution of diluted disinfectant at
a preset concentration.
A wall mounted unit, the MultiClean disinfection system is
intended for use in bath and shower rooms. It is designed for use
with Arjo baths, air spas, showering equipment and other supplied
bathing accessories. (See Fig. 1)
The MultiClean disinfection system is not to be used as a patient
shower. (See Fig. 2)
The MultiClean disinfection system features a trigger spray
handle with a 2 m (79”) hose. The spray handle stores
conveniently and safely in a holder at the side of the unit. Two
controls on the main panel enable the user to activate the unit and
select between disinfecting and rinsing modes.
A lockable door gives access to the 3 l (101 fl.oz) disinfectant
supply bottle, isolation valve and concentration setting cap.
The MultiClean disinfection system is available in two models:
•Standard (Mains Water Fed)
•Pumped (Electric Pump Operated)
These are supplied according to installation conditions and local
plumbing code requirements.
The Standard system incorporates an in line back flow prevention
device (vacuum breaker DA device - USA/Canada, pipe
interrupter DB device - Europe), with a positive leakage to drain.
The pumped system is protected from the mains water supply by
an integral water tank with type AA air gap.

rinse with plenty of water. If eyes or skin becomes
irritated, contact a physician. Always read the IFU
and the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of the
disinfectant.
General Disinfection Instructions for Arjo
Bathing Equipment
Where multiple use of bathing equipment is undertaken, there are
real risks of cross-contamination from one person to the next. By
definition, the users of these products are high risk persons and
challenges from hostile micro-organisms should be avoided. Arjo
bathing systems rely upon a strict cleaning regime using the
MultiClean disinfection system. The following schedule has been
devised to optimise the hygienic cleaning of bathing or showering
products after each occupant has been removed and the water
drained to waste.
Usage
We recommend that bathing, showering equipment and
accessories should be disinfected/cleaned at the following times.
Start of day
Equipment should be disinfected and rinsed thoroughly before the
first use of the day.
After each use
Equipment should be disinfected and rinsed thoroughly after each
use.
End of each day
Equipment should be disinfected, wiped and dried after the last
use of the day. This is of particular importance to ensure that
soiled water/surfaces are not left to stand overnight.
Setting the Disinfectant Concentration
(10 steps)
1Unlock and open the access door and with the bottle
connector secured in place, place a bottle of Arjo
disinfectant/cleaner onto the disinfectant storage tray.
10
Continue with the steps on the next page.
Page 11
2Make sure all services are connected to the MultiClean
disinfection system.
3Open the water supply by turning the isolation valve
control to the open position.

Fig. 2
4Switch the unit on by turning the ON/OFF control to the ON
position.
5Remove the spray handle from its holder and direct it
against the bottom of the bath or an appropriate drainage
point, but always away from the user.
6Turn the function selection control to the disinfect setting.
7Press the trigger on the spray handle.
8Check the liquid value on the flowmeter setting so it is in
accordance with the settings table Disinfectant flowmeter/mix ratio table on page 11. (See Fig. 1)
If necessary, adjust using the adjustment screw on the bottle
connector - clockwise to decrease the value, anti clockwise
to increase. (See Fig. 2)
9Put the spray handle back in its holder. Close and lock the
access door.
10 Switch the unit off by turning the ON/OFF control to the
OFF position.
Contact Times
The contact time of the disinfectant can be varied depending on
the specific environmental circumstances. Arjo recommend that
10 minutes is the optimum contact time to insure best disinfection.
This should be practised at the start and end of the day and after
each time the bath or shower is used.
However, it may be appropriate for the contact time to be a
minimum of 2 minutes where risk of cross-contamination is
considered low.
