AirPort Extreme
AirPort Extreme is the new turbocharged version of the cuttingedge technology that lets you connect to the Internet without wires, additional phone lines, or complicated networking hardware—from just about anywhere in your home, school, or office.1AirPort Extreme uses the next generation of wireless technology, 802.11g, to deliver nearly five times more bandwidth.
2
Key Features
Work and play at phenomenal speeds. Share large image files and enjoy multiplayer games at up to 54 Mbps—almost five times faster than the current standard—wirelessly.
2
All together now. Share a single Internet connection simultaneously with up to 50 Mac and PC users.1AirPort Extreme has ample bandwidth to go around.
Wireless printing. With the power of Mac OS X, all the users on your AirPort Extreme network can print to a USB or Ethernet printer connected to the base station—and they can all do it wirelessly.
3
Extremely compatible. Add Windows PC users to your AirPort Extreme network. The AirPort Extreme Base Station works with earlier AirPort Cards as well as other Wi-Fi certified 802.11b products—and so does the AirPort Extreme Card.
4
AirPort security. Harness the strength of 12 8-bit encryption and firewall protection so reliable, you can even use it to safeguard the wired computers on your LAN.
Flexible wireless networking. Manage your wireless coverage area: Add external antennas to extend your range,5use wireless bridging for base station to base station connections, or use the software Transmission Power Control to reduce the range of your network to a single room for added security.

Specification Sheet
AirPort Extreme
1
Wireless Internet access requires a wireless-enabled computer, a base station or other access point, and Internet access (fees
may apply). Some ISPs are not currently compatible with AirPort and AirPort Extreme.
2
Based on IEEE 802.11g draft specification. Data rates greater than 11 Mbps require an AirPort Extreme Base Station, an AirPort Extreme Card, and an AirPort Extreme–ready computer. To achieve maximum speed of 54 Mbps, all users must use AirPort Extreme Cards. Actual speed will vary based on range, connection rate, and other factors.
3
Wireless printing over USB requires Mac OS X v10.2.3 or later and a compatible printer.
4
The AirPort Extreme Base Station defaults to 802.11b compatibility mode when users of AirPort Cards or other Wi-Fi certified
802.11b products join the network. Maximum data rate for AirPort Cards or other Wi-Fi certified 802.11b products is 11 Mbps.
5
External antenna connector available on selected models only. For use with Apple-approved antennas only; antennas sold sepa-
rately.
6
Initial AirPort Extreme setup requires an AirPort-enabled Macintosh computer.7Compatible with AOL 5.0 or later in the
U.S. only. Simultaneous sharing of an AOL connection requires multiple AOL accounts.
8
Actual modem speeds lower; speed
depends on connection rate and other factors.
9
Weight varies by configuration and manufacturing process.
